Isn't 7/10 good for FF these days?

The literacy of Japanese developers stopped at The Sorrows of Young Werther. So much happened those some 250 years in-between then and now in literature.
Well...accept it people, JRPG is almost dead on consoles.
Tales in Xillia is the only good JRPG released in recent years.
*cough* Ni no Kuni *cough*
*cough* xenoblade: chronicles *cough*
From the GS review, the game is time constricted? wtf were they thinking? Fvck this game
Yeah I absolutely hate crap like that. After what 20-30h (?) you may have to restart the entire game? Lol wtf were they thinking?

Ni No Kuni is bad. The worst combat I have ever seen in a JRPG. Linear as hell. Secondary missions, a snooze fest. Humor for 7-year olds. No voiceovers in the entire games except in cinematics. Broken Hearts missions, what are they for ? You can't even choose which heart piece to give. Zero freedom in this game. ZERO.
You can clearly see how shit No No Kuni is if you play good old school jrps such as FF6,7,9, Shin Megami Tensei games, Xenogears, etc.
Xenoblade: chronicles is the best JRPG of last gen, but it's a Wii exclusive.
By some reason JRPG are dying on Sony's platform, if we rembember how many JRPG had been released on PS2.
@jhonMalcovich: ni no kuni scored a 9 here didnt it?
At any rate, ive been turned off of turned based rpfs ever since ff on nes, until I played nnk. That game was terrific.

I... disagree. Ni no Kuni had its share of problems but it was somethin very special. It had a charm and heart I dont see much on JRPGs these days. Oh, and I've played many old school JRPG's in my time.
Yea the time thing my diminish my fun as well depending how its handled. It seem GS reviewer was really effected by this cause ouch that review.Oh wells not everyone is going to like it.

xenoblade combat is fun and world itself was interesting. To bad the characters and story was boring of course that just my opinion.
Day 1 purchase PSN version!
couldnt care less about random people reviewing a game i want to play.. i just wish i had the money to buy the Limited Edition i mean $140 after shipping? da fuq!?
Correct me if I am wrong, but aren't you the one who is always stating and asserting how IGN is the superior reviewing website and we should go by their reviews anyway?

Lol, absolutely not.
Recent great JRPGs on consoles include Xenoblade Chronices (a game which you yourself couldn't stop praising, btw), The Last Story, Pandora's Tower, and Ni No Kuni. Plus this year, we are getting Persona 5 (the be all and end all of JRPGs) and X.
They may not be as thriving as they used to be once, but there's still some great console JRPGs kicking around.

Gamespot is like the HR department of the video game industry. And look at the 2 staff members that feel the need to fight the objectifying of women in their reviews and coverage. Kevin and Carolyn...Interesting. I wonder what Jess thinks about it.
7/10
Flop confirmed
'Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII is a strange end to Square's trilogy. Its fresh combat system is a great success, and the well-designed world provides more than enough reason to play through the end of Lightning's journey. At the same time, the incredibly inconsistent tone and underwhelming plot caused any story-based satisfaction to completely elude me. Lightning Returns is a good game, but one that forgets that a big part of what make the Final Fantasy games so memorable is how they created characters we could care about.'
I didn't see any hype.
BUT the scores are literally all over the place
Joystiq gave it a 4/5
GT: Gave it a 6
Gasempot gave it 5
Eurogamer gave it an 80
Game Informer gave it a 7
7 from Game Informer, 7 from IGN. Sounds like a good game for people that were looking forward to it. People that weren't should avoid as originally planned.
Yeah 7 is by no means a flop.....silly SW.

It was a joke, yo. About how any game less than a 9 is shit.
Of course, I fully expect Lightning Returns to be shit regardless of any scores it gets based on the first two games, but that's a different matter altogether.
See CureVylash, this would make more sense in the Gamespot thread not the thread with a score of 7. Poor Charizard.
Btw, that was a joke.

@jhonMalcovich: Tales of Xillia, tales of graces, ToX/, Tales of Zestiria, Tales of Veperia, Nier, Drakengard 3, xenoblade, Persona 5, Dark Souls., Dark Souls 2, Demons Souls, Witch and the 100 knights, Valkyria Chronicles, Godless Paradox, Disgaea D2, Ni No Kuni, Resonance of Fate, Eternal Sonata, Star Ocean 4, and so on. Just because youre not paying attention, doesnt mean they arent there

Yeh. But Xenoblade Chronices, The Last Story, Pandora's Tower were Wii exclusives, and Wii is dead now. It's like saying PS2 had amazing RPGs. But what about today ? The amount of JRPG and their quality was drastically reduced. PS4/X1 have no jrpg scheduled for 2014. WiiU has an X, but it's just one game. Compare this to PS2 era when there was at least 40 JRPGs released on PS2 alone. If you try to make a top 10 JRPGs on PS3, you will have trouble to even find 10 games for it.

Wii is dead, but it was an active platform till 2012 and the leading console of its generation. It had three excellent console JRPGs.
As for this year, we are getting Xillia 2, X, and most importantly, Persona 5. I already agreed that it's not PS2 era level, but to say they are dead is disingenious.

now you are just talking nonsense to "prove" your dumb point, the games he mentioned are very recent, some of them hardly have 2 or 3 years at most, so yes they count to "jrpgs in recent years" no matter what bs excuse you want to use to arbitrarily dismiss them, ps2 obviously had more jrpgs since it was the ending of the golden era of jrpgs and no one is arguing the quality and quantity has declined but is nowhere near dead as you in your ignorance claim.

You realize that the PS4/X1 haven't even launched in Japan yet, right?
i give nines didn't hand out a 9?
holy shyt that must be a terrible game.
an ign 7 is like a 4 or any other site.

It makes perfect sense.
Seems like X-2 then? People hate on that game but I stand by my opinion that it has the most fun combat of any FF game. The story also hurt my logic glands, but dangit it was fun to play. Of course I absolutely hate every single character in the 13 series so I won't be touching this though.

Please don't go equating the value of literary works that come from japan with Square-Fucking-Enix.
jesus christ..
I can't wait for it to come out, after that the crap that was the FF XIII series can finally be flushed down the toilet and we can move on to better things
onto emo pop band meets akward version of Kingdom Hearts. oh boy.... such a future :P
What trailer have you been watching? I didn't see anything emo or pop band in any videos. Please don't tell me because someone wears black he is emo, that just none sense.

I would say that it can't get worse than this but it can always get worse....
Yeah you are right, it can. Hopefully it won't

They are mostly stuck in literary Romanticism (that's not the same as usual connotations of the word "romantic" in spoken, lay English) and its key ideas, both about heroes themselves as well as problems surrounding them. I don't have a lot of time at the moment, I have an appointment with a doctor, I'd be more than happy to elaborate on it even more, but I hope you caught my drift so far.
13 was garbage from what I saw 13-2 was also garbage, and from most the reviews so is this game. I don't play FF for combat I play it for the story and characters and it seems to be missing in every single one of the games in the 13 series. Sucks Final fantasy resembles nothing of what I used to love about the series in my younger years.

It acutally seems split on reviews. I dont see it leaning towards one or another.

I wasn't crazy about X-2 But it does seem to be akin to that due to the schemata.
The story this in so far is very blahsey even for me. But I am finding it fun to play.
