Ouch. I thought the combat in the demo was pretty fun...but Lightning just never clicked with me.

General rule of thumb regarding GS and JRPGs: If the score is under a 8.0, add 2 points for accuracy. Therefor, Lightning Returns 5.0 + 2.0 = 7.0 game.

I hate to tell you I bought my PS3 for XIII, at least I didn't end up buying a single FF game last gen. ;( Here is hoping XV turns out fine, otherwise I know I'm one game closer to XVI.

the comment section is becoming incredibly hilarious with the XIII fanboys using the excuse that FFX was linear too. XD

FFX which had item shops, side-quests for weapons and summons, you could backtrack, the characters actually had personality and motivations, you could use every single character on every fight, the sphere grid gave you options unlike the pointless linear crystarium, etc. FFX and FFXIII are worlds apart, and this is coming from someone that didn't even like neither game. To me after XIII, FFX is like the worst FF game to date but the gap between these is pretty wide.

Pretty sure? That means you don't know. The combat is really good, so that means you have played it. So which is it? Have you played it or not played it?

And did you finish the entire game? Because to say bullshit youd have to had extensive time playing the game and beaten it in order to form an honest opinion. Unless you just are assuming things and not actually played it.

Fucking FF13; God that game was so fucking annoying.

1.13 had items shops for weapons, and had weapon crafting. I do not remember FFX having shops for summons.

2. 13 has sidequests

3.You can backtrack in 13.

4.The personalities in both games were scripted and stereotypical. Xiii at least had one character that actually had a story someone could almost connect with.

5.You can do that in Xiii. I have no idea what point you are trying to make here.

6.The Sphere grid IS the Crystarium, just removed the pointless wait times. The are related to eachother, even the creators said that. Both are stupid.

Both games are bad but to say they are really different outside of setting is insanity.

I am not surprised. IGN review sounded pretty harsh and I was surprsided when the IGN's reviewer gave it a 7 in the end. So I immediately knew that GS will destroy it. Besides both reviewer mentioned weak story telling, and it's an automatic deal breaker for me in the games like Final Fantasy.

LOL......wasn't using those. GS is an outlier review site. For the most parts it's reviews are off from other review sites. So add a couple points and you get in the ball park with what the score should be. FF games aren't going to be everyone's game du jour.....but 5? That score should belong to a game that's poorly made. I'd say the 7s I've seen are more in line with the game.

3 shitty games in a row in the span of 4 years. Final Fantasy name is in shambles.. Forgive me if I'm not jumping for joy over FFXV.

Not sure why that game gets so much praise. Sure it's very old school in it's design but it's about on par with Final Fantasy 1 in terms of story and characters. Not to mention is super grindy. It's no Final Fantasy VI, VII, VIII or XI, that's for damn sure.

Was never going to buy it after trying 13.

It's the battle system. Light years better than any other FF game ever, turn-based at least. FFXII leads the pack in that department.

Was going to get this game today but in last second my brother decided to buy the game so i'll let him buy it, play it then i'll get his copy and by this way i'll save myself $60 to get Tales of Symphonia collection lol

Stubborn ass SE. Years before FFXIII even released they were hell bent on shoving this "Fabula Nova Crystallis" bullshit down our throats. Instead of releasing a game, observing the reception and then deciding where to go from there, they just assumed that they had some brilliant universe that everyone would love.

Kind of funny when you think about it. All the well received FFs that they released in the past as well as other strong RPGs under their belt and they do little to nothing to expand on them. Which would be fine... but then they turn around milk the worst received game in the series to date.

It's like they think if they just keep pushing it on us we'll learn to love these pos characters and this nonsense universe.

Eh I'll probably pick it up and enjoy it when it makes its eventual port to PS4, hell if I'm hooking my PS3 back up for anything other than Persona 5.
