Things that I'm not liking the sound of so far:
1. Soundtrack not done by Jesper
2. Possibility of more linear levels
The rest doesn't concern me much since it ties to difficulty. And even some of those don't concern me--like guard patrol patterns: You're only allowed to see a very small amount of it. If that were true for the main targets of the game, I'd could kind of see the problem, kind of.
Things I do like:
He expresses that the AI in previous games were crap, and I totally agree. After the AI became alerted, they were really just a bunch of targets waiting to be killed, whose only function was to shoot at you blindy without any interesting patterns in the mix. The horrible AI was the very reason why I found the stealth elements of the game to be lacking, they didn't even feel necessary at some points because of the horrible AI. If you wanted to, you could easily make a blood bath out of most levels, which took tension out of the game. The AI was at it's most interesting when it was performing easy tasks, where the player had to study patterns. So yeah.
1. Making improvements in the AI
So far the things I don't like beats the things I do like by 1. But to be fair, if they mess around or screw up with the sandbox quality of the series, that number 2, will actually count more like 10 points on top of it.
Give me better AI in an awesome sanbox environment, that breeds a lot of tension for the player=me extremely satisfied.
This game will flop hard. They are not putting much into the project according to a danish article I read. Its too expensive and this is possibly the last hitman game they will make.In 2011 they have fired every 5. employee because of cutbacks and high DEV cost.
And the gameplay demo was cut in strips like a trailer and didnt look good even if pre alpha.
Theywanna fly on the hitman movie and earlier hits ala tomb raider before reboot.
Another 7.0-8.0 game with recycled crap and some new animations.
I don't understand the fuss over the cover system. I can understand the removal of Bateson and Jesper Kyd, I can also understand how lame it is for the game to have smaller sandboxes (which must mean less options) as well as a higher amount of action. But inclusion of a cover system?
I mean, I can honestly say that a sinple wall hugging system is something the previous games really would have needed. They greatly enhanced your options in MGS and Splinter Cell games, and I always felt like it made Agent 47 a much more awkward hitman.
Right now its in the early stages so people are getting way too up in arms. I'm not excited to hear these changes, but unless you've played it yourself you can't say it will definitively be terrible.
