I love my Switch, it is one of the best consoles Nintendo has made IMHO. Of course I wish the games were cheaper, they were faster in porting Wii U games to it, had a little better battery and a little more power. There is one thing that feels like it is just missing but I know it's coming and that is netflix, youtube and a browser.
Now here comes the problem, Nintendo is taking a page out of Sony's book and they want you to buy your games all over again. Just like Sony asks you every gen to buy your old games again for their new system, Nintendo is going that route here I fear.
Notice how they don't have a Virtual Console which just boggles the mind until you realize what they are doing. The reason they don't have a Virtual Console is because they are getting rid of Virtual Console. Not getting rid of old classic Nintendo games, you will be able to buy them again with their online service that is launching next month.
They are just getting rid of the Virtual Console so that means anyone who has a massive catalog of VC games can't demand that Nintendo doesn't charge them for the ones they already own because technically VC won't exist. VC will remain with the Wii, Wii U and 3DS. You will have to subscribe to the Nintendo Switch Online service launching next month if you want old NES games. More will be added regularly they say. Maybe next they will add SNES, N64 and GameCube games but at what cost?
Why can't Nintendo just add the Virtual Console to the Switch with as many old NES, SNES, N64 and GameCube games as possible and let us keep the ones we already own and buy as many as we want? It seems the only reason they won't include the VC is not because people don't want it, it's because they don't think they can make enough money off of it to be worth the effort.
