I'm sure Microsoft is thinking on which studios to acquire or open next to replace the ones they closed. The studios closed weren't about money, that's for sure.

Microsoft already said they're trying to line up other jobs for those affected by the studio closures. Them closing these studios doesn't mean everyone is getting fired, there are a lot of talented people that can be repurposed.

This is just a low blow Sony PR stunt.

If anything it Ueda who hasn't delivered anything in a long time and team ico has been disbanded long ago. Now it's just Sony Japan working with udea's small studio to get TLG out this year.

It's not like they're buying the whole studio. They're hiring key people to work at SCEE studios under new directors.

Hiring devs =/= owning an IP.

Making bad games with your old team doesn't mean you don't have talent. The studio has some good artists and engineers. It doesn't help that Microsoft has been forcing them to make crap like Fable Legends.

Being under new direction makes a huge difference. It feels like some people here don't understand game development, there's no magic here.
