If this comes out true, than media molecule might get the first game to outscore ocarina of time.

- LBP 2 has less of a focus on platforming altogether and it's more of a platform to actually create games with
- There is an all-new level creator and it is not just a tool to create platform games.
- As examples, the game 100% encourages the player to create game types and wants you to make a shooter, a racer, puzzle games, Space Invaders clones, even RPGs
- A player can even customize a HUD. The example given is a health bar for a fighting game.
- A Media Molecule developer has created a fully-functioning Command & Conquer Clone
- Media Molecule loves that a lot of user-created levels in LBP1 were homages to ****c games and laments that so many manipulations of the creation tools were necessary to do them. Sackboy won't need to be "hidden behind the curtain" when you make games with LBP2.
- There is a new super-important creator tool called "direct control seats"
- (from previous point) In LBP1, lots of people made rudimentary "hold R1 to accelerate" vehicles. Mark Healy created a car out of rubber wheels and a bottle, then placed a direct control seat in it. He pulled up an interface that resembled a PS3 controller and assigned commands to buttons.
- Example given was assigning Sixaxis tilt for forward and reverse, horn on the X button.
- You are no longer limited to the game's stock sound effects. You can record your own sounds and voices, attaching them to characters or objects. Magic Mouth from the original LBP is gone
- Direct control seat's control scheme is instantly accessible and you can attach it only to the part of the vehicle you want it to control.
- Example was given about the 8/16-bit remakes/tributes having to use the signature gameplay mechanics of LBP. That is no longer true in LBP2. A creator can place a direct control seat on their own platforming protagonist and complete it with a customized control scheme.
- Example of the previous was Yoshi's Island. If a player creates the perfect recreation of the SNES-era jump they can share it with anyone in the community.
- There is an in-game microchip that functions as a calculator and it is a direct response/homage to PSN user Upsilandre (seriously, he's mentioned by name)
- Enemies in the original title could only be programmed with super-basic commands and most resembled marionettes.
- Users will be able to take a template for an enemy called a Sackbot, tweak the AI and dress it in any way they choose.
- Creators can choose the weak points on the Sackbot, determine if it is scared of heights, and even program acting routines.
- A disco scene was set up by Media Molecule and two employees recorded together on a single Sackbot. They moved its arms and bobbed its head in a dancing routine. JUST the AI was copied and pasted onto twenty different Sackbots. Each Sackbot was given its own unique look.
- There are now movie editing options as well.
- Every LBP2 player will receive their own profile on LBP.me. It will display your activity feed as well as previews of their own stages
- There will be user-created integration in QR codes as well. They can be printed on advertisements, business cards, and automatically load a level when held up to the PlayStation Eye. There is no special menu to do this. Any time the PS3 is turned on and running LBP 2, you can wave it in front of the Eye.
- If you are not near your PS3 you can take a quick photo with your smartphone to see an online preview of the level and add it directly to your level queue.
- For creators of multiple levels, you will be able to string your stages together so that they flow from one level to the next.
- Sackbots can be drastically increased or decreased in physical size.
- Sackbots can be controlled by direct control seats as well.
- There is a new gadget (like the MGS paintball gun). It is a big-ass grappling hook.
- Media Molecule says explicitly there are multiple more gadgets coming.
- All DLC from LBP1 transfers over to LBP2. Including downloaded content packs, costumes, etc.
- There is a major overhaul to the story level as well. There's the same 3-plane perspective for the story mode and the levels so far have a similar run-jump-grab platform ****
- Storyline is not country-based like last time, but is based in periods of time
- Here is a list of levels and summaries so far:

Wall of text, copied from a website, and most of these ideas are total crapRatchet_Fan8
Can make your own game. Yoshi Island, Command and conquer, contra, castlevania, megaman. The game sounds like it might be the greatest game ever if this is true.

Are you serious? You are going to see people make command and conquer rts, yoshi island levels, megaman, super mario bros levels, sonic the hedgehog, etc. This is what made my day that you can customize your controls. Basically means that any game is going to be made. I don't understand how someone would not be blown away. This is the first time I was like thinking a game cannot become better.

I tend to buy games hoping the devs have made somthing for em to play, not simply thrown me into the wilderness with a bunch of tools to create my own fun.

There's a reason they make games, and i play games. Primarly 'cause they're good at making games, and im not.

That is quite the list. Almost too good to be true. I like the vehicle controlidea. If most of that isnt true I at least want to see.

Better Water Tool: They can keep the current water tool, but give us one that is just amaterial that we can put wherever we want.

Gravity Tool: Give us a tool to change gravity.

Combat System: I think a new combat system that included lots of weapons, with the sackbots they mentioned would be rad. You could have evil ones or ally ones.

Maybe go through and simplify what they can in the create mode.

And the biggest thing is they need a way of removing levels that are just complete garbage that people made to get a quick trophy, or stupid h for h levels. Maybe if a level is ranked 2 stars or lower after so many plays it gets taken offline until it is fixed up to be something better. Not only is it annoying when i just do a quick play and get thrown into a crappy level, but with over 2 million levels out there I have given up on my own creations because i'll put several hours into creating a level, then come back a couple months later to see its only been played by 3 people.

Why would i want a bunch of ametuers to make a game for me, when paid professionals should be? If LBP2 is anything like the first, i'll be spending hours wading through garbage to find one harf decent map that isnt a soon to be deleted mario clone.

That sounds incredible. I was a bit unsure how they'd make a sequel that wouldn't just be LBP with a few new tools, but this is awesome.

Pretty cool that all the LBP DLC will carry over.

Wow if all that is true LBP2 is gonna be huge for LBP1 fans and for those that would like even more creative control. It really is amazing to see all the great levels created on there. LBP is also my sons favorite game, I can not get him interested in anything else, even on the Wii for more than a few hours. I really like the fact that LBP has inspired him to get very creative. Him and his friends he has met online have a blast playing and creating all kinds of cool stuff together.

So I guess your assuming LBP2 will just through people in an empty space and if you want to play something you will have to create it yourself or wait for someone to make something? You know LBP had a story mode as well right? But yea, you must not be very creative or appreciate creation if you think LBP sucked.

You don't need to be creatiev to appreciate a game ... I think LBP sucked, cause it had weak platforming, poor controls and overly floaty physics. It's an opinion dude, get over yourself.

Understood. Yea its definitely not like playing mario and it takes some getting use to. The momentum is tough to deal with untill you get the hang of it. Once I beat the story I was pretty much use to the sackboy handling and controls.

You act as if LBP didn't come with a ton of developer made levels to play. As for wading through garbage, there were, and are, multiple ways to find good levels. Most hearted, most played, highest rated; if you find a level you love, you can check out other levels from that user, and check their favorite levels. Sounds to me like you have no idea what you're doing, and that's no one's fault but your own.

I'm honestly not excited. LBP needed better gameplay but it will instead focus on user created content. Now, that's awesome, but it also means that the user created content will consist of worse versions of already excellent material. Simply put, the gameplay will not be what it needs to be to create excellent game experiences. They will be cool little bites of fun, which is all fine, but not enough to get me excited.

I think Zero Punctuation summed this up pretty well. There are developers whose job it is to create games. Give me the tools and, well i will create crap. Someone out there might create a level worth playing, but it will be lost in a sea of crap.

Simply put, the gameplay will not be what it needs to be to create excellent game experiences. They will be cool little bites of fun, which is all fine, but not enough to get me excited.

Read it again. Everything they did in terms of user generated content was with gameplay mechanics. The reason why yoshi island was used as an example. You could alter the gameplay mechanics of your character. Basically he could run as fast as sonic the hedgehog, he could jump and shoot similar to contra, or he could swing a whip similar to castlevania. The reason why people complained about littlebigplanet was the jumping mechanic, and controls. They basically found a system that allows you to control anything the way the creator wants it. Basically any 2d game can be mimicked with littlebigplanet 2. Which is the reason why I am bewildered by comments like this.

I think Zero Punctuation summed this up pretty well. There are developers whose job it is to create games. Give me the tools and, well i will create crap. Someone out there might create a level worth playing, but it will be lost in a sea of crap.GeneralShowzer
Then play other players levels. The quality is based on the lowest denominator. Obviously some levels are going to be better than others. Is every youtube video great? Are some youtube videos great?

Why do I want to play a game that imitates other games that will ultimately be worse (yes, they will not be as good as the REAL games) than what it is mimicking? The fact is, LBP needed a solid gameplay foundation but has settled on letting the community make it for it. Like I said, that's cool and all, but the end result will be fun little experiences that ultimately don't add up to a substantial game experience, imo.

You could create any gameplay foundation if this is indicating the reality. If you want to make a game with mario jumping mechanics. you could. You could create your own gameplay mechanics. Basically if this ambition is correct, you could play whatever type of game you want. It could be completely original or be similar to old 2d games. The fact is littlebigplanet problem was that it had a a limited core gameplay mechanic. People wanted to make super mario bros. level except sackboy really didn't control well on a super mario bros level. Now you could create the same exact version. You could create brand new stages for sonic hedgehog. There will be fan made 10 stage worlds of sonic the hedgehog (as if it was its own game), contra, etc. This makes the game pretty much one of the greatest games ever.

"- As examples, the game 100% encourages the player to create game types and wants you to make a shooter, a racer, puzzle games, Space Invaders clones, even RPGs" that part is just insane. if it works properly.... BEST GAME EVER 10/10

Nah those elements could have been made in littlebigplanet. They actually existed in littlebigplanet but poorly done. The fact is that those sucked in the original version. This is what makes it a huge beast

"Media Molecule loves that a lot of user-created levels in LBP1 were homages to ****c games and laments that so many manipulations of the creation tools were necessary to do them.

A creator can place a direct control seat on their own platforming protagonist and complete it with a customized control scheme."
