I lol'd at the "Scoreboard Microsoft" thread. Kinda sad how seriously people can take this board. We shouldn't be starting stupid fanboy wars over the PSN situation.

Well I'm not one of those fanboys and yeah I agree with you. It's ridiculous lol. There's no network whatsoever that is immune to intrusions. Anyway, what does SMH stand for? sethman410

lol if xbox live was in psn's shoes right now, you cows would be having a field day and laughing with glee. so don't be so butthurt.
id bet xbox live is alot more secure then psn
more paying customers = more money to invest in the service itself
not saying its immune, but its alot less likely
I keep hearing how live isnt immune to hacking yet im still playing reach with no problems and have been as long as i can remember. The longest i can remember going without live was maybe 5 hours due to maintainence back in 2009.bigboss5akBecause Anon is not targetting XBL with massive DDOS attacks. Not because XBL is immune.
It is funny, but what did you expect? Fanboyswill argue for weeks about differences in pixelation on zoomed in images. Of course lems were gonna drag cows through the mud over this.
But yes, paying for a service means nothing. If Live was the target, MS would be going through the same mess. Maybe that mountain of money made off Live would have helped themalleviatethe issue faster, but they are not infallible.
I cannot help but SMH at the fanboys on this forum who seem to be under the delusion that Xbox Live is some godly impervious service that is immune to the current problems facing PSN right now, just because you pay $60 for it. You guys do know the EXACT same thing could happen to Xbox Live tommorow right? StrongDeadliftI highly doubt that Xbox Live DDOS/or hacked would end up so bad to the point where I go to Microsoft.com (MSN) click on support or contact us, and a message shows up saying that the server is down and to try again later. Sony is indeed having this problem. I will never get those 4 free PSP go games wil i?
Didn't some kid just hacked the live account of the head security for Xbox live? His name is Stepto or something.id bet xbox live is alot more secure then psn

Can you elaborate?[QUOTE="TheAcountantMan"]
Theres no need to hack XBL tho.
Microsoft is a good company, they're not like Sony.Danm_999
If it weren't for Microsoft, all of us won't be computing the way we are today.
Sony is a video game company (i know theyr make TV's and radios etc, but i dont buy or care about their "other" electronics), who restricts freedom, removes features.
Microsoft is the opposite, they made it so millions of people could get connected, brought computing worldwide, and made it affordable.
And continue to do so with their Xbox Live service. (i play on Steam but do own an Xbox 360 and pay for Live which is definitely worth it)
Remember when that Code/Point/live generator popped up around sometime last month?
That took about a day or 2, to get patched, nothing is un hackable, thats true, but if MS get's hacked, they'd be good to go by the next day, they're pros.
If it weren't for Microsoft, all of us won't be computing the way we are today.TheAcountantMan
That makes them an influential company, not necessarily a good company. Good and bad are moral terms.
Suppose the alternative to Microsoft's operating system would have been superior. Does this make them a bad company?

Microsoft has also been responsible for several incidents where they've stifled freedom and creativity though.
They've been accused, with pretty convincing evidence, of plaguarising Google search results.
They've been accused of banning Xbox Live profiles where the user has expressed open homosexuality, while failing to do so for homophobic or openly heterosexual users.
They've been accused of anti-competitive practices spreading misinformation and abusing patents with competitors like Linux.
They lost a major anti-trust case to the US government, and a Federal judge claimed ""proved, time and time again, to be inaccurate, misleading, evasive, and transparently false . . . Microsoft is a company with an institutional disdain for both the truth and for rules of law that lesser entities must respect. It is also a company whose senior management is not averse to offering specious testimony to support spurious defenses to claims of its wrongdoing."
So here's what I'm trying to say. Neither Microsoft or Sony are good or bad; they're companies, and they something both do good and bad things.

Yea right
Your link proves that even Xbox live can go down. That was for a week. PSN has been down for 5 days now ( Wednesday through Sunday). I think it will be the same for PSN as well.I cannot help but SMH at the fanboys on this forum who seem to be under the delusion that Xbox Live is some godly impervious service that is immune to the current problems facing PSN right now, just because you pay $60 for it. You guys do know the EXACT same thing could happen to Xbox Live tommorow right? StrongDeadliftFirst of all, what happened to PSN is not a DDOS attack. No-one is DDOS attacking PSN at this point in time, nor did they ever (Anonymous may have threatened to, but they never actually carried out any DDOS attack of consequence on PSN.) In any case, DDOS attacks are difficult to sustain and relatively easy to beat with minimal loss of service (given the right infrastructure.) Put simply, you fight distributed attacks with distributed infrastructure, which Sony has. What happened was that some hackers found a way to get free content from PSN; content that was supposed to be paid for. Not content sharing, but outright theft. All the things Sony tried to do to stop them failed (largely because of the root key compromise in February; no matter what Sony did, the hackers could simply negate using modified firmware that Sony simply could not detect.) So in order to prevent widespread content theft from PSN, Sony went to the nuclear option--it took down PSN. Sony is now working frantically around the clock to find a comprehensive way to stop the hackers from getting DLC for free, but such feature overhauls are never quick or easy, and there are always problems that push the timeline back, especially considering we aren't just talking about PS3 here. When PSN returns, look for firmware upgrades for every device that accesses PSN or Qriocity--this means PS3, PSP, Xperia Play and numerous Sony Blu-ray players, TVs and network streamers. Secondly, XBL has a similar distributed and redundant infrastructure, so it won't be taken down by a simple DDOS attack. XBL also has a much more robust e-commerce security platform, plus their client devices (Xbox 360s, Zune software, Zune devices, Windows Phone) remain fundamentally secure, so there is little chance of XBL suffering the same problems PSN is currently having. That said, XBL is not immune and anyone who thinks that is a fool.
To OP,
You just don't get it.
It's not because we pay for Xbox Live that's preventing all that intrusion to happen.
Main reason why you'll almost never, if not barely see these kinds of problems occur on Xbox Live is simply because Microsoft has a better infrastructure in place and is more strict on how they manage everything.
It's basically a unwritten code they have that says better safe than sorry.
I'll give you some examples, do you notice how Microsoft only allows proprietary products to be used on the Xbox 360?... The PS3, on the other hand, allows you to use a keyboard, mice, PC controllers, bluetooth headsets, printers, on and on etc....
Or you notice how most of the times, it takes longer for a patch to be released on the Xbox Live than on PSN?
I'm just glad Microsoft has these strict policies.
Can you elaborate?[QUOTE="Danm_999"]

Seriously, Microsoft a notorious horrible company.
They over charge for their software. Don't provide enough security for said software, have knowingly released faulty products. Have used their monopolistic weight to crush competition(even taken to supreme court over monopolistic activities), frequently spends more money advertising products then designing them, charge you to use online components of games, I mean... I just...what brought on such stupidity
There is even a bloody wikipedia page completly devoted to critism of Microsoft.
