[QUOTE="bigboss5ak"]I keep hearing how live isnt immune to hacking yet im still playing reach with no problems and have been as long as i can remember. The longest i can remember going without live was maybe 5 hours due to maintainence back in 2009.StrongDeadlift:roll: I think you should learn what a DDOS attack is bro. Basically if me and 1000 other people sit around and call your cell phone every minute all day every day so anybody else who tries to call you will get a busy signal. Lol @ thinking paying money makes XBL immune to this. Stop drinking the Microsoft coolaid. You pay for XBL because Microsoft MAKES you. Either you pay up or you don't play online. You don't pay because you want "teh bettah service"(and I'm not denying that it is better) but you pay because you have no other option. Microsoft does not care about you. Microsoft basically says "b****, either you give me your money, or your ass doesn't get online! Pick and choose".. And the ONLY reason they do this is because there are tens of millions of people who (like you and me) will bend over and say "yes master,we'll pay...we'll pay!" like the b****es that we are. Stop acting like MS cares about the welfare of your online experience. They charge you because you are willing to bend over. Nothing more.
According to the rumors hackers got access to the admin accounts (and it really does sound like this is the case if they are rebuilding the system), TBH this sort of thing would never happen on XBL. In terms of security this is nothing short of incompetent, people will definately get fired over this.
I cannot help but SMH at the fanboys on this forum who seem to be under the delusion that Xbox Live is some godly impervious service that is immune to the current problems facing PSN right now, just because you pay $60 for it. You guys do know the EXACT same thing could happen to Xbox Live tommorow right? StrongDeadliftyep you are right xbl is not immune because you pay, xbl is immune because ms has not removed half the functions the original system came with.

Theres no need to hack XBL tho.
Microsoft is a good company, they're not like Sony.TheAcountantMan
rofl, yup, charging people to unlock a part of a game they paid for, there so generous!
Logs on to xbox, logs in to xbox live, o guess who's service is up xbl, not psn.

no I'm pretty sure he doesn't care.
it'd be a different story if it had went down and you were paying for the service.
and even worse if it was at a time a CONSOLE SELLER was launching (Halo 3 anyone?).

Thank god there are barely any console sellers on the PS3 then.

I'm not going to even give a valid response to this because it'd be practically impossible.
anyway...contact me when a console seller is launching and people can't even get unto a service they're paying for .
Halo 3's fun right?
Difference is, if or when such an attack happens to XBL, it wouldn't take Microsoft 4+ days to fix it. Unacceptable really.Anjunaddict
Microsoft has been doing online gaming since the 1990's, and has been DDoS'd and hacked an uncountable amount of times.
the comparison isn't there..

That caused problems with XBL, but the service NEVER shut down like PSN has been for 4 days now. That was against individual players not against XBL itself....once again: the Xbox Live has been DDoS'd in the past -

Except not only you but every one of ushave no specific kowledge about this incident and the amount of time needed to solve a problem is entirely dependant on what it is.

Attack or not, I lost a good chunk of my friends list during the 2008 fiasco that lasted more than 4 days. My co-worker couldn't get online for damn near two weeks. So get this biased garbage outta here. Console fanboys are truly delusional..

Well I personally had no problems, and could play online over that period. Obviously it was unacceptable for Microsoft to not have predicted the surge in players, but the service never actually shut down like PSN has been. In the end, we got a free game out of it. I wonder will Sony be as apologetic, even if its just to PSN+ subscribers.[QUOTE="kobedaGOAT"]

So congrats on mysteriously " having no problems" even though every major gaming publication went in depth on the major issue. AKA the service was basically shut down for millions of people. But hey, the "its free so don't complain" excuse from the Sony side and the "It magically didn't affect me or it was barely down even though tons of gaming sites stated otherwise" from the MS side surely puts thing in proper perspective. No wonder these gaming companies treat consumers like crap...
