Since R:FOM and CoD3 were launch games, that's a pretty weak argument. I don't know exactly what to attribute the steady PS3 sales to (a lot more steady than I expected them to be). I guess consumers want the multimedia capabilities or are return users from the PS2 generation. Price and game lineup isn't exactly stunning at the moment, so perhaps it's just public perception that the PS3 is the best console because of price, delay, size, etc. I've really got nothing to attribute it to. And still no Europe in the mix. They should be getting butchered by 360 (though Wii is butchering both, lol!).

Techincally Microsoft is number 1 in the current Next Gen department. I'm sure the Wii will catch up, in terms of systems sold anyway. Third parties need to change their attitudes for the Wii to win in game sales.
Wii numbers were only 100,000 more that's not that impressive for 360 being out a whole year ahead of it. On top of that that is only 1.2 Million a year more it would take Wii almost 9-10 years to surpas 360 in the US at that pace.rexoverbeyWhat the? The 360 hasn't even sold 10 million worldwide, let alone 10 million in the US. It's user base is around 5.5 million or so. Nintendo already has close to 2 million users in the US. If these trends continue, US sales of Wii will surpass the 360 by the end of this year.

I think I've now seen 3 different posts, about 3 different systems "winning" already.
Oh, and since we're on the subject, how close does "Cooking Mama: Cook Off" come out to "Halo 3" ?
Obviously the Wii is putting up some staunch competition in the games department.
And anyone who thought 360 would out do two long established companies in Japan hasn't paid attention to gaming in the past 10 years. But since I'm in North America, it doesn't really matter.

It has hit 10 million worldwide. Those are the sales figures their inenstors are using. Buisiness profesionals who have been doing this for years knwo ALOT more then a fanboy on a msg board. Microsoft doing so well should NOT be a surprise. ps2 only had a 2-1 sales lead over xbox1 in the USA.

See my profile for a full explanation of why the Wii's success will harm the industry. I agree with your analysis of the sales currently occuring in this industry.
But I don't see why you champion high sales as a positive event, when the Wii's success will cause a sharp decline in the quality of games avaliable for the Wii.

360 just can't miss with Mass Effect, Halo 3 and Bioshock, Lost oDyssey and Ninja Gaiden 2, the competition has nothing even close to those for some years

It's 10.4 million SHIPPED. Of course that's what business professionals will use since they have investments in MS, but it's not 10.4 million SOLD to customers, which is what is important here in this forum. Heck, even the number of consoles sold to customers is important to investors because if they don't sell to customers, the company can't SHIP more units to retailers.[QUOTE="reilo"]Aren't you the same guy that said he would leave the board if the X360 outsells the DS?fahadq8

PS3, PSP and PS2 are doing awesome in sales.
All of you keep on saying no one will spend $600 on a PS3, yet its sold over 2 million, and its not even released worldwide yet! Ha!
The PSP had awesome sales also. With the price drop coming in march-may, it will sell like hot cakes.
PS2 continues to whoop *** like theres no tommorow.
Sony FTW.
I spent $60 on a game that's been lasting almost a month now so far, playing it every single day. That is much more lasting appeal than a 6 hour game. That seems to be more bang for your buck than almost all of those games, except for a few exceptions. So lets see that comes to.... $420 worth of games that you can easily get bored of from what I've heard. We have a lot of exciting games coming up. We just launched a few months ago. What did you expect hundreds of games right out of the gate? Yeah, you only look at the now, rather than look at the what will be. It's like pushing off studying for a test, because you just wanna focus on the now. I bet you're failing a class right now, right? Sorry to hear that. I'm too busy playing with my PS3, gtg.PS3 fans are playing resistance because it's the only game available that's worth anything.
360 fans are playing: GoW, GRAW, R6V, Oblivion, CoD 2, Dead Rising, Saints Row.... you know, just to name a few.

This is terrible, right here. Terrible. System Wars is full of arrogance. If Xbox 360 had sold 10 million by the end of last year, at the moment they'd shipped 10.4 million, then that'd mean they'd have 1.9 million to sell for half a year worldwide has MS have stated they're only shipping 1.5 more million until the end of June. Nov counts as two month's sales, Dec as 4 on average. By that, by the end of the year, Xbox 360 has been out for 22 months (or less because it didn't launch everywhere in Nov, AND didn't launch at the start of Nov anywhere). At the same rate, Xbox 360 needs at least 2.7 or 2.7 million more units until March; more than the 1.9M that'll be available in that time period. That'll teach you not to speculate on shipment numbers! Finished speculating? At best, Xbox 360, to this very day, has sold no more than 9.5 million. EVEN TO THIS DAY! The data from Europe has shown sluggish data, and MS said it's about 50% of NA market for Xbox 360. Let's say that's bumped up to 55% of NA for goos measure, and add it to NPD and MC sales, then that doesn't even touch 9 million. But I believe NPD and MC undertrack oftentimes, and believe XBox 360 has sold more than 9 million, but not by much, of course. Sorry to kick a person while down, but Wii is sold out, and as stock supplies increase, its month-on-month sales above 360 will continue to widen. Currently at 140,000 more, which is modest compared to what it WILL, I suspect, but let's be VERY modest and say it won't. Xbox 360's best case scenerio, if Wii doesn't increase in popularity like DS did, is to get its ass kicked. Worst case, it'll just happen sooner. Please Log In to post.
