[QUOTE="Lazy_Boy88"]Well no multiplayer mode is prettymuch an insult that deserves a couple points off. Can't you sheep even admit that considering the DS version had one and that there are no online games on the Wii, that Nintendo should've included one.
Lazy_Boy88

No. MP3 should not have multiplayer.

If he knew anything about the series he'd probably agree. Multiplayer in Metroid is like multiplayer in Bioshock.

No I do know what I'm talking about. I have the DS Metroid and played it online a bunch and with friends. It was pretty good and fit the game well, especially if you bothered to get good with the controls. Quit trying to defend an obvious deficiency of an FPS in these modern times. Nintendo needs to produce an online shooter and this is the perfect opportunity that, like usual, they just piss away. Nintendo just has no ambition to produce anything of greatness and that's why I do not favor them, although yes many of their games are fun. It's just that when you're making games with simplistic last gen visuals I would expect there to be MORE CONTENT if it still costs full price. You sheep are the ones that let them get away with this crap by buying games with sub par content at full price. And seriously where the hell is our Pokemon MMO? Any other company with that franchise would've jumped at the opportunity because it fits it so perfectly.

It's not like Bioshock at all. Bioshock is an epic modern game on platforms flooded with online shooters. MP3 is an epic Gamecube game on a system where ANY online shooter would be good and with gameplay that would fit multiplayer perfectly (unless the controls just suck..). There is just no excuse to not have it and you people need to quit letting Nintendo get away with ancient game design.

metriod is an adventure game with heavy emphasis on puzzles and exploration. maybe they could make a separate fps game with samus in it, but this game is not a multiplayer kind of game.

So...because it's on the Wii, it's 'ancient game design', but it's alright for a 360?

I mean, you could argue that Bioshock has gotten away with 'ancient game design', as just about every other FPS on the PC/360 has online multiplayer (even System Shock 2 had online co-op!).
I wouldn't agree with that, though - great single-player games don't need tacked on multi-player modes, imo. Both Metroid Prime and Bioshock are great sp games, so they're fine as they are.

Metroid multiplayer is not needed. I don't see whats so special about playing online with a bunch of idiots, there are plenty of other games with Multi anyways

[QUOTE="agentfred"]Did you only read the 1up preview?GGNoRematch

I don't read Gamespot or IGN previews.. they never give any critisizim for previews

They don't? Taken from the Metroid Prime 3 preview...

"Using the default control scheme, you can freely move the reticle around the screen in this manner, but to turn, you must move your sights all the way to the edge of the screen. This occasionally made for some inconsistent turning."

This maynot seem all that bad...but Gamespot hardly ever gives any indication of any negativity whatsoever in previews...then I read the MP3 preview...

http://www.gamespot.com/wii/action/metroidprime3/news.html?sid=6177057&mode=previews

Also, the whole preview (at least to me) has a "blah" feel to it. There is no real excitement or anything like that. Compare this preview to the BioShock preview, or even as far back as GeOW. Those previews seemed overwhelmingly positive. This preview is just...well...kinda there.

I agree. If I wanted to deal with 8 year olds cussing at me and calling me racial slurs, I'd become an elementary school teacher.

No. MP3 should not have multiplayer.

What I'm hearing from Sheep:

"MP2 had a sucky MP which also resulted a sucky SP; The devs aren't able to make them both, so the game shouldn't have MP".

Then you should probably turn up your hearing aid. In order for Metroid to have a decent multiplayer they would have to either change the entire game, or make a completely different game and add it on. If you think that MP3 should have multiplayer then there's little chance you've ever played one.

Even R&C had some sort of MP (a crappy one I might add, but it did play just like you'd expect it to). A game with a lot of focus in shooting might as-well.

You keep bringing up this Preview and all though it was totally glowing it was still rather positive. Of the very few negative comments made in the preview they were all followed up by very upbeat and positive comments cancelling them out. They said excited a bunch of times as well as many other positive descriptors.

That quote you have there was followed by "There are other control schemes available however, which allow you to adjust how turning is handled." Its not the greatest thing on earth but it was saying that the system was not doomed, just the standard, default, setting everyone would start out with did feel a little clunking for them at times.

This isnt to say AAA is guarunteed but its also makes it no more apparent if the game will be getting an AA score either.

And I argue that with the new review system, this will go down under "The Bad" in their review and might lead to a slighly worse score. Remember, Gamespot has deadlines to meet. They sure as heck don't want to tinker with control settings on games to find the right feel. This just slows them down a little. Also, they may look at the broad picture and put this under "The Bad" in their review because of all the other gamers playing this game. They will have to mention it to let people know that the default control settings are NOT the optimal settings. And because of this, I really do think that Gamespot will find this to be a negative, even if the other settings are more optimal. Why?

1. They will see it as a slight developer error for not putting the optimal settings on the default setting.

2. They will need to mention this in the review to let gamers know that there are better control schemes available for the game. It is good there are other schemes right? To us, yes. To Gamespot? Sure, but it is still annoyance because they need to find the right settings to suit themselves and then let everyone know which one is the best in the review.

3. This game has been touted for awhile as being amazing with all control aspects. Apparently, it is not. Apparently, the default setting is not all that great. The expectation for the controls of this game may take a slight hit in the review. I think expectations might have have gotten too high and a little out of hand. I'm sure it will control great, but it won't be perfect like it has been hinted at (from other sites) for months.

Take all this into account. Also, this is Gamespot and they are damn nitpicky about things. I'm trying to look at it from their possible perspectives, not my own. Never underestimate how harsh Gamespot can be on games at times.

I seriously hope you arent right cause if they do that I will lose all hope in GS. Marking down a game for having options is asinine. But I really dont think they will do that, despite it being GS here. The remarks about the standard setting being bad with turning was "made occationally for some" so even then, to me at least, it seems rather minor, not even taking the other sensitivity settings into consideration.

Also youve said tinkering before a ton of times, and there isnt any tinkering involved, its 3 button clicks and done, people have been changing the settings at demo stations in GameStop, there isnt any heavy lifting involved with changing the sensitivity in MP3. So thats not an excuse for them.

Plus Jeff should not be reviewing this game, he just did Bioshock, Brad seems most likely to be reviewing MP3 since he did MP2. So I doubt we'll have another case of "I didnt like the guiding arrow."

MP Hunters was focus on multiplayer from the start. The main Prime games aren't. Plus it's a adventure game.
