Looks like MS has thrown in the towel against Sony

Looks like MS knows that they have lost this Gen. now they are just trying to get people to buy the Xbox One so they can save some face.

How is them being motivated to please the consumer throwing in the towel? They're not trying to appease Sony, they need to appease the existing and potential user base, that of which they're excelling at greatly.

They said they aren't MOTIVATED by beating Sony, but by GAINING CUSTOMERS. Their goal as a business/brand is to gain customers. As many as possible. Preferably more than the competition. BUT THAT ISN'T WHAT MOTIVATES THEM (or so they say...).

They can say whatever they want but when they did hold the lead last Gen. you didn't see these articles. I'm sorry but as a business they want to outsell Sony because for every PS4 that is sold odds are it's one less Xbox One in that persons home. The Majority of people don't buy more then one console.

Because he knows that it is going to be very unlikely that the Xbox One will ever catch up to the PS4. He is basically admitting defeat and that their main focus that motivates them is gaining customers back. The Xbox One isn't going anywhere it's just time for the Xbox Fanboys to finally admit defeat this Gen and move on and enjoy their system. Maybe next Gen. MS will be motivated to sell systems so they can get more exclusives and deals like they did when the 360 was in the lead.

PC is not a platform held by any single company. The money it makes is fragmented across various component factories, branded PC boxes, multiple digital storefronts, etc, etc, etc...

There is nothing to put in first place because no single entity represents PC or benefits financially for the money the environment generates.

If you were going to say one "single entity" represents PC, it would be, ironically enough, Microsoft, considering something like 90% of all personal computers on earth run Windows. Microsoft has a stronger hold on the home computer market than any console manufacturer has on the console market.

So since it's not Nintendo leading it sales, sales matter again?

Golly, I didn't see that coming even with SONY leading the gen and being current sales leader.

1- Console manufactors make deals with component companies but they own every single branded box sold. They make money on EVERY single game sold (besides 2nd hand market), they make money on selling and loaning dev kits, they make money with online services. A HUGE percentage of profits run through the platform owner.

PC does not have a platform owner.

2- I mean gaming PCs. Windows is not made for gaming, its not big because of gamers and I doubt PC game profits have shit to do with how much MS makes out of its OS every year. C'mon now! Really?

I am a huge sony/playstation fan and hated the xbox one before launch and during the first year. They fixed that shit. It is a great product now with a great sales guy who is in touch with his audience at the helm saying all of the right things. I like their direction. Kudos to microsoft.

It's just sad how the PS4 won due to Don Mattrick. If it was like the PS2 where they pumped out game after game that justified the sales then it would be great.

When Sony was getting spanked last gen, Sony just buried their head in the sand and ignored the entire world, and it took them at least 3 years (4 if you're counting since its reveal) to stop pretending things were business as usual at HQ. You couldnt've pointed a gun at them and made them acknowledge the PS3's place last gen.

MS owns up to it's mistakes in two months, takes its L like a man. Sony plugs its ears in denial, and pretends its winning.

What else can be said other than.... Xbox Won. :P

Really quite being such a fanboy. MS know that they will not be able to defeat Sony in console sales this Gen. Phil knows it now if only the blind fanboys would wake up to the fact. Phil is probably the best thing to happen to the Xbox brand, I bought one myself after they did the 180. The facts are though that the Xbox One is going to remain in second place. So now with they make a PR statement how it's getting new gamers that motivates them and not console sales. Funny because unless those new gamers buy an Xbox one they don't get anything.
