[QUOTE="-Serpahim-"]I think those "classic" world maps and "classic" gameplay were forgotten by JRPG devs beause they are so dated and are borderline retarded as oppossed to the new options available to day. Remember, they changed for a reason.kevy619
sure... Dragon Quest isnt popular in Japan at all now...
i never said it wasnt popular in japan...dont jump to conclusions. I'm saying that like all other genres, they are progressing and maturing. So its natural that they will move away from the old and learn to do new things. And overall thats a good thing. I mean look at GTA...after San Andreas they knew they had to do sumthing new because it was gettin monotonous...but thats not to say people didnt buy GTA:LCS.

Well all that "dated" stuff as people like to put is still fun imo... Much better exploring the world map than going through some linear path like on FFX and turn based was much more fun than FF12s press X sit back do nothing combat.
FFX was as linear as KOTOR or Mass Effect. You have a main story and the game leads you to the missions but you were free to explore where ever you wanted. Sure it wasnt GTA but in no way was it just a linear 1 track game like Uncharted or Gears. Just because you dont have multiple endings doesnt automatically make a game linear. FFX was just like FFVII except instead of the world map walk around, you just pointed and clicked where u wanted to fly then you could explore the region.
As for FFXII your complaint is baseless. Yes, you can make a macro if you want, but you dont have to. If you want to play the game like the age old RPGs, you are free to do so with stopping and you selecting every single action that everyone does. The game mereley gives you the OPTION of making Macros and in retrospect it gives you much more control over what your characters do especially when playing in realtime instead of turn based. So dont bash a game for the options it gives you or we could bash all PC shooters because you can potentially play them with a controller thus making the aiming crappy.
