Lost Odyssey.....

... I was just wondering if this game brought anyone else back to the JRPG genre, the way it did to me..... I hadn't touched a JRPG since FFX.... until Lost Odyssey came along and decided to give it a try..... I forgot just how much fun it can be, to turn your group into an UNSTOPPABLE GROUP OF DEATH DEALERS... muahahahaa!

Lost Odyssey, has plenty of little extras to find and collect.

Anyway, I know you've heard it all b4, but Lost Odyssey really is under-rated... the frame-rate does drop occasionally... but really thats the only fault I can find with the game.....

Actually it re-affirmed my hate for the JRPG genre. The story was so slow, cliched and ham-fisted that I barely made it past the 1st disk.

I saw the scene where a character dies in the game and it was HORRIBLy directed. I only felt like laughing at it. And pretty much everything good you said about can be done in pretty much be done a tons of RPGs from Japan...

Underrated? Nah.

No I did NOT just say that. And no i haven't played it. I had the chance to, but wasn't interested in the slightest. I know the game isn't that good. And I was talking about a scene in the game and what you can do in basically most RPGs from Japan that LO doesn't do any different.

Whats right and undeniable is that the main story in Lost Odyssey is badly written and directed. And I'm not even saying JRPG-clishee-badly-written-and-directed, in many parts it's even worse. Every single one of the dreams is a better piece of storytelling and writing of dialogue than the entire main story. Now as you might've guessed from my sig, that doesn't stop me from immensly enjoying it, but cedmln is right about the direction, and even though he hasn't played much of it, I can't say it get's better on later discs.

The story, though promising at first, is rather meh, but the whole packaging is an awesomeness that hasn't been seen since the PSX-FFs.

12 is good. Majority would say its better. I didn't beat but I will when I buy a playstation again. LO seems like LOD can't wait to rent and play it on my freind's 360.

Yup i agree, that was one of my fav if not my favorite in the whole game. Something really special about that shoemaker one

THings i liked about this

The story was very good

The characters were likeable

The game was far more challanging than most JRPGs where you can level grind to god like status- Its not a hard game, but it atleast does a level cap until the final portion of the game.

The bosses look cool

It is visually impressive

Great sound design

Dream sequences are deep and very well done.

I loved it. But thats just my opinion.

JRPGs i did hate Final Fantasy 12 for being a disgrace to Final Fantasy(the combat sucked, the story and characters sucked)

Folklore- The game is boring. How the heck did IGN bring themselves to give this a 9?

Blue Dragon- IT deserved a 3. WHY is Artoon allowed to make games?

Dragonquest Swords- A Wii "extended fanbase" jrpg. jg4xchamp

Artoon made Yoshis Island on the ds and it got very good reviews.

Which one? the one with Mack, Jansen, The Queen and the other little girl? or the one after you meet back with Kaim and Sarah? i was able to beat both. I lost interest in the mossy temple place.

Yeah I love it for that same reason, it took me back to the PSX Final Fantasy games when the series was in it's prime. Havn't touched it in a while but picked it up today and got sucked right back in and slapped the crap out of the Disc 3 Ice Monster.

I dig old school JRPGs. But alot of lemmings didn't like them before... that's strange.

LO is cool, but sometimes it's way too melodramatic, even for a JRPG. The dream sequences are not cool at all. Other than that and the framerate it'll give you your fix of an old school JRPG.

I think alot of lems who only owned an XBOX last gen forgot what an excellent JRPG is like. So LO, a just above average JRPG, is looked as underrated.

But of course there will be some hardcore JRPG fans that simply LOVE LO.

I'm not a Lemming, I've owned a PS1 & PS2, just don't care for the PS3, and I have a Wii and Gaming Rig too.... so if not owning a PoS3 makes me a Lemming then so be it...

but.... Lost Odyssey is the best JRPG I've played since FFX.... maybe there were others that came and went in between.... I wouldn't know, because I stopped playing JRPG's after FFX... but for me Lost Odyssey is freaking great.... it's everything I loved about the genre + more.

Personally I think LO is the most underrated game this gen. As a big Jrpg fan, this is the best this gen has to offer so far, and I like ES alot. As blasphemous as it may be to say, the ending of LO is almost as good as the ending of MGS4.

So watching Godfather 2 from the middle without watching Godfather 1 cemented my hate for the series :roll:

They are well written, just too melodramatic like alot of anime for me. I thought it was too long and over the top how they describe certain things. Take the first one for example about the little girl passing away. Describing her underdeveloped breast/chest was pretty funny.
