what did Uncharted sell in japan ?Hadoken_Kid
Uncharted sold 7k copies in Japan, but it is clearly a western game. Saying that Uncharted doesn't sell in the east is like saying Cooking Mama doesn't sell in the west, it's obvious.

but if a "great" exclusive for japans "home console" doesnt sell well, what will?

and isnt it obivous that 55k in first week for an installed base of less then a million good ?

Maybe Lost Odyssey is clearly a Western RPG? Or maybe Japan doesn't like any RPG that isn't Square-Enix!

I never said anything about the selling of Lost Odyssey, I was just responding to your post. In fact, I'm willing to bet that the ratio for 360's:copies of LO are pretty good.

It's a great Western game; I don't see anyone in America going nuts over dog racing simulators.

but you responded to a post i made in corlation to LO, which is impying 55k for LO isnt a bomb and if anyone says otherwise then Uncharted is a bomb too, it's obvious

But that isn't what I believe; you came up with a bad defense for something you apparently did not want to hear: you pulled the fanboy card and attacked another game's sales. In case you didn't notice, I said that the ratio for 360's:purchased copies of LO are pretty good.

uncharted is a japanese rpg?
No, but Folksoul was...it flopped harder than LO despite being released to a much larger installed base :)
Uncharted is a western shooter. A Japanese rpg bombing in Japan would be the equivelent of a Madden game bombing in the US.Whatever, let Japan keep buying mario party, final fantasy, and metal gear. America and Europe will glady enjoy new ips, such as mass effect, lost oddysey, uncharted, assassin's creed, and bioshock.chicagog19
You're missing the point. This ain't about who's better--Japan or America.

Folksoul was made by who? LO was made by the godfather of jrpgs and Final Fantasy.[QUOTE="chicagog19"]Whatever, let Japan keep buying mario party, final fantasy, and metal gear. No i am not. My point still stands, lost oddysey bombed because the Japanese will not play anythng wihtout mario, metal gear, or final fantasy in the title. Think about it, How many new ip's have you seen have reached the top ten in sales in japan.

Cooking Mama sales:
US: 650k
JP : 70k
Oh snapu!
Lost Odyssey sold 55,000 in three days with a userbase of 500,000. How is that bombing?
Uncharted would have had to sell 300,000 copies in3 days in the US to sell the same proportions. How many copies did uncharted sell in the US during its first week again??? How many copies has uncharted sold in the US period? Probably less than 300,000 copies and its been out for how many weeks, 3?
final fantasy killer has arrived LOL...
From the previews Ive read this game is so much worse than Blue Dragon. Poor Xbots Sakaguchi is just milking Microsoft's money... by making quick ff and dq clones.
Oh btw Uncharted sold 17,000 copies. It sold 7,000 copies on its first day.
another resounding success for the PS3. I find it strange cows laughing at 360 software sales when the PS3 rarely registers a blip in Japan.http://kotaku.com/gaming/only-in-japan/simple-2000-the-japanese-software-chart-king-wii-fit-333135.php

Sure it didn't do as well as Blue Dragon in it's first week but 58,000 is still not bad at all. I am rather ashamed of Japanese 360 owners for the fact that goddamn halo 3 sold better it's first week.
I am also rather sick of hearing the same old crap from Americans whining that "Japan hates the 360 'cause it's American!" You have no idea what you are talking about. If you LIVED there and saw what M$'s advertising is like ("DO DO DO!"?!?! seriously WTF!!??), you may understand. If you saw how their marketplace is crap compared to most other countries, you would understand. Lastly, if you knew that they do not like the system due to it's unreliability, the way M$ treated Japanese XBOX owners and the amount of violent Western games released to their market that do not appeal to the Japanese gameplayer, you would understand. I have no doubt Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey would have sold 3 times as much on the PS3 but people are not going to run out and buy a system for one game. A few games have helped sales this past year but nothing substantial. People would be much more willing to go and buy a PS3 for 1 game because they know there will eventually be others they will want because it is the PLAYSTATION. There is no guarantee with that on the 360 as there are not enough big Japanese games that are on the 360 only. I will be interested to see how Trusty Bell and Ace Combat 6 do on the PS3...
Back on topic, I got the game today and I am loving it so far. It is nice to see how it evolved from the demo version as there is no 3 second texture loading in the final game thank god. I have no idea what the person at IGN or where ever it was was on about when they said it runs badly. The only frame rate stutters is during the loading when going into a battle or exiting a monorail. I have seen no popup or texture loading at all so far and I am 5 hours in, just past the first boss. I am being brave and using the Japanese voices, it is, naturally, much harder to understand than something like Blue Dragon (and unlike BD there is very little furigana, grrr) but I am getting by with about 85-90% so far. I must say though, i am sure I would wimp out and play the game with English text if there was an option. I am not good at all the army related kanji.
