I got a few questions about the game because I am thinking about getting it.
How long is it?
How would you rate it?
I am a big rpg fan and this really reminds me of Final Fantasy judging by the commercials.

Ive heard nothing but good things from people who've played it.
If you are a JRPG fan get it
I read around 40-50 hours long? I won't rate it until I finish it.
It has the feel of Final Fantasy games. This game tipped me to buy the 360

Well it has pretty much the same developers. And the composer.
Well. *points to sig*
If you liked the SNES/PSX-Final Fantasies, you will enjoy Lost Odyssey.
Noone will be fooled. In the last 2-3 months. More and more people haven't given a **** about GS reviews. their credibility has gone down the friggin toilet.

Hironobu Sakaguchi, the head of Mistwalker, was the "creator of final fantasy". I'm not sure he has quite the recources he did with Squaresoft, or he would if he were still with Enix, but he's got his head in the right place

To do everything would take 65-80 hours, if you go all the way, and each area, encounter, boss etc is so unique, you will wonder why JRPG's were not like this so many years now, one of the best JRPG's i have ever played, period
The story is alos by miles the most meaningfull, emotional and well presented story than ANY game to date maybe, i would say more than even Mass Effect
IMO this is not the kind of game you think before you buy, you just go out and buy it
I have beaten the game already, took me around 45 hours to do. After you beat it, you can load the save file and start a New Game+.
Right now, I reloaded one of the older files, right before the last dungeon to collect all the secrets, that game is at around 68 hours in.
Very good game and very good story. Definately worth the buy. 9/10 in my book.
The story is quite touching at parts, especially the dreams. I was really looking forward to this game for a long time, and it has exceeded all my expectations. Story, characters, gameplay, and music are all excellent IMO.
Oh, I'm not far into disc 4 and I have been at it for about 46 hours.

Not to mention Feel+ were the developers, Mistwalker is a production team. Sort of like Level 5 developed Dragon Quest 8 with Enix as the production team. Feel+ is made up of many of the developers who made Shadow Hearts.
If you enjoyed RPG's in the late SNES and early PS era, then you will greatly enjoy LO.
Its an old school title that is just awesome.
I'm on the very beginning of disk 4 and 58 hours in...that's a bit slower than most but I'm desperately trying not to miss any items/sidequests/dreams :P.
It's the most addictive jRPG I've played since FFIX and completely blows X-2 and XII out of the water imo.
Bottom Line: If you're a fan of the early PSone Final Fantasy games and were disappointed with the changes Square made for FFXII...you'll love the absolute crap out of Lost Odyssey.

FF12 was a bad game in one of THE must buy 360 title for me, along with games like Mass Effect, Bioshock etc
its a great game a very underatted...Like jrpgs then buy it now. The characters arent that great or story besides the dreams but the gameplay is very very good. The game isnt that long, im about 34 hours and im on the last dungeon, but i will do sidequest at a later time.blazinpuertorocYou must of skipped 1000 years of dream to get 34 hours into the game if ur at the last dungeon. Anyway, Lost odyssey is a good representation of cliche jrpg. If you like those snes jrpg with cliche characters, and boring as plot then you'll enjoy this.

Lost Odyssey has great characters, with a semi-interesting stroy but awesome character development. Actullay I really enjoyed the story, not so much because of what was happening, but because of the way its told. Anyway you gave Eternal Sonata a 9.5, enough said.

how am I a cowOnly cows can't come to terms with LO being a great JRPG. They also LOVE to use the "But look at the reviews. It sucks!" argument. And if you're not a cow, then you're just being weird.

MGS3 gets a 10? LOLOLOL!

i wish i was 15 also those were the daysI love two Final Fantasy games. FF6 ( 3 for the SNES) and FF7. For years I have waited for them to make a game that was this style and they simply have not. Square kept pushing for new designs and mini-games, character styles, themes and such. I am not one to be against innovation unless the new ideas stink. In the case of FF games most of the new ones were crap. The only one I mildly liked after 6 and 7 was 10.
So to my answer. Buy the game. It is worth every penny and I swear you will not regret it.
This weekend I was at 15 hours and by Monday I was 45 hours into it. Im a relatively normal person with a social life and friends but this thing just sucked away all my attention this weekend. It is simply that good. The plot is intelligent and engaging. The characters have great personallity that will have you caring about what happens to them and laughing at their antics( Jansen especially). Im on the third disc and this week I have laid off playing it a little because Im afraid Ill finish it too quickly and I don't want it to be over too soon.
I have waited for a JRPG that had this theme, style, plot, and gameplay....no lie...for ten years. I was skeptical going in especially with Gamespot's bad review but It left me really scratching my head and wondering what is wrong with the reviewer who did this and his superior that approved it. It has had some flat out awesome scenes and heart pumping battles.
I don't listen to GS's reviews at all these days. I just come here for the forums and some of the news. Pretty much everyone around here knows that there explanation for game ratings doesn't really cover there real criteria for game ratings. There are lots of politics involved and this game is far better then they said.
Don't waste your time on this thread. BUY LOST ODYSSEY :)
