Lost Odyssey Vs Final Fantasy XIII (2)

Now that FFXIII is out. Which one do you think is better. Did the direction they took forFinal Fantasy XIII was what JRPGs needed to feel fresh again? or does the classic formula might have worked better....maybe making FFXIII a better game than it is. Lost Odyssey on the other hand is a classic JRPG and seemed to have worked as well. I know the name and brand is a very important thing, name anything "Final Fantasy", and inmediatly people will expect A LOT from it. On the other hand, if lost odyssey was named FFXIII when released, maybe the story would have been different for it in terms of sales numbers.

Both are quite good, but which one would you prefer? What would you have wanted on one that the other had?

I give the nod to FFXIII as I preferred the story and battle system, however I loved the openness of Lost Odyssey.

I'll go with LO, it was a lot more engaging than FFXIII

I couldn't get into LO no matter how many times I tried. It just seemed boring. FFXIII, on the other hand, I flew through. It only took me about a week to beat it. Which is very fast for me considering I'm usually a very slow RPG player.

I give the nod to FFXIII as I preferred the story and battle system, however I loved the openness of Lost Odyssey.

The story is definetly better on LO, although both had the same RPG feel, the characters on FFXIII were more **** overall. LO makes me think of how much I missed towns and openness, I prefer LO because reminds me of the classic FF games.

Never said it was better, I just said preferred.

Also, the battle system far from plays itself, lest it automatically Paradigm shifts on the fly.

I wasn't too happy with FF 13 at first then the game got a whole lot better and then it get really amzing.

I have never played Lost Oddyssey, but even if I hated the gameplay and story, I would still play it through to the end because it comes on so many disks.

I think that Lost Odysee has a much better story but I kind of like FF weapon upgrade and battle system. If FF was a LOT less linear and had a better story ('Ice, L'Cie, whatever) then I would enjoy it more. I think they're both solid 8's.XanaduTheBand

FFXIII is my fave game this gen, so yes, I liked it better than LO.

I thought Lost Odyssey was the better game, better story, more traditional JRPG openess (i.e. can actually go to towns and back to many places). I will admit that I thought FFXIII had better characters. Kaim in LO was an awesome protagonist and Jansen was a very enjoyable character, though I can't really say I liked any of the others (especially the kids grrrrrrr). In FFXIII I thought they did a great job with Lightning, Fang, Sazh and Snow (wasn't a fan of Vanille or Hope). The Battle system in FFXIII was pretty good as well though one thing I hated was not being able to control any other characters, especially when they went off and started attacking another god damn target when you needed them to be attacking one.

lol at this. Final Fantasy XIII all the way. I couldn't get passed 4 hours of that other game because it was just so bad.

Both are good jrpgs, but Lost Odyssey has the slight edge imo for its story and storytelling.

The little bac stories that you read are amazing and so well done.

Sadly LO. LO was a great game but it wasn't in the same league as FF9 etc. FF13 is just ... a really poor game. Excellent graphics, much like LO, excellent battle system, much better then LO, but terrible story and terrible pacing.

FF13took me20 hours and 18 of those hours are walking in a straight line.

Well I got bored playing both titles to the point I didn't finish either title. I'll go with FFXIII though I did like the ATB system used in the game. As for LO it would of had the better story but it goes downhill after disc 2 (also the main villain killed it for me).

It being bad is an opinion. Much like it being good. So it's both as bad as people say, and as good.

FFXIII. I like it a lot more actually. Lost Odyssey was solid, but I found it to be a bit on the boring side. I don't know what it was. The two kid characters were also the most annoying piles of drivel I have witnessed in a game.

i didn't play FFXIII yet but for the record, LO is one of the very few x360 games that i wished i could have on the PS3.

I liked LO better.
