This is gonna be one of the greatest game soundtracks made. The track I posted is one of Uematsu's best, imo.

Woah what?! I was looking forward to Lost Odyssey (and I don't even have an XBOX360!) as a proper RPG installation into the next generation, but I've never heard of Uematsu being part of the music developing gurus behind this game. Is this THE NOBUO UEMATSU, as in, the musical genius composer who made all the various epic tracks all the way through FFX?

Yes, it is.Dang, how could I let such a detail to slip past me! I usually stay on top of things in the video-game industry, but this...is unbelievable!
He composed the Main Theme for LO, right?
Man, Nobuo Uematsu is a god among video game composers...I was hoping he would participate in composing some epic tracks again, sometime in the future.
Anyone knows if FFXIII's music will be composed (even if only one track) by Nobuo Uematsu?

Ah, thx for the link deavincalhoun. So it's Yoko Shimomura as composer. It should be great, the music in the Kingdom Hearts series thus far were enjoyable (KH, KHII and KH : Chain Of Memories are the titles he worked on).

He's actually composing the whole soundtrack, not just the main theme. There are other tracks that sound really great too. There's a really intense piece I heard (link got removed though :( ) that you can hear a very small part of in the US trailer. While the game doesn't look mind-blowing, I'm excited for it because it seems like it'll deliver in both story and music. The gameplay is classic FF turn-based with a few twists, so it seems like overall it'll atleast be a good rpg experience.

This is the trailer I'm talking about. It's the first music you'll hear:

i just listened to the whole thing an i strongly believe this is one of uemastsu's worst
compared to ff7/ff6/ff4/ffx
man just wow not even in the same league right here
i think uemastsu has lost his touch after ffx blue dragon an now this sound terribad to his true classic songs that he made for square
its realy just disapointing all of mistwalker has been nothin but disapointments from me in everyway from the games to the stories to the music to the characters
epic failure they should just stop imo just stop an ms should ask square to make a game for the 360

Highly impressive. I wouldn't be surprised if gaming was helping to keep the composing of cla$$ical- type music alive. Movies obviously are, but gaming must be playing an important part.
It's also really impressive to see how much effort goes into the music we play to and how seriously the orchestra's take it.
In 2008 a lot of lemmings are going to be going about their work La La La-ing this tune like the opera singer in the clip
This is why I hate it when people call video games mindless trash.(Yes some games actually are) It really is an artSnowboarder99
Video games aren't art, but damn if this music isn't beautiful.

I really dont want to start a different topic, but games can definitely be art. This subject was brought up to me recently and I was talkingabout BioShock's artistic vision...This includes everything from the setting, narrative and themes. Also, manyJapanese RPG devs respect the idea that they can bring their artistic vision to their games...Lost Odyssey is also a fine example of that (if you read up on it). Now, whether or not it'll turn out to be a great game, is a different story but looking up at the people working behind it, you can see that they're taking the medium very seriously (mainly the award winning novelist, Shigematsu, and award winning artist, Inoue).
