Lower Priced PS3 Coming: Hon Hai Precision To Deliver PS3 Consoles To Sony

Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd., one of the world`s leading manufacturers on electronic manufacturing service (EMS) basis, recently joined Sony`s supply chain to deliver Play Station 3 (PS3) consoles, according to industry sources.

The sources noted that Sony has set a shipment goal of 10 million PS3 consoles for the first quarter of 2008. This means fierce competition in the global market for game consoles and will lead to a boom in the sector making consumer electronics.

Insiders in the sector said that Sony has cut the selling price of PS3 consoles, and, at the mean time, planned to launch low-price models, with ASUSTeK Computer Inc. and Hon Hai Precision to supply the models.

Sony still won't move more consoles than Microsoft.

The 360 will always be cheaper than the ps3 and as of right now has a much more appealing library.

It's a cheaper console marketed toward everyone.

MS has failed to capture that audience. 360 and PS3 are mainly for hardcore gamers and it will continue that way.

even if the ps3 gets to $400 its not like the 360 wont drop it another $50, same thing will happen ps3 will get a bump then the 360 will get a bigger bump. Imo the ps3 will never have a price advantage of the 360. Also its not like they have any killer apps this year to sell systems, i mean Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, and UT3 might move some but compared to the amount Halo3 will move its nothing.

Also any PS2 owner will tell you what made the ps2 so great was the games, specifically GTA,MGS,FF, and GT and guess NONE of those games are coming out this year!!

Its going to be a reverse of last gen..

xbox drops price to match PS2.. PS2 drops price.. and that will just keep happening.

And if SONY does keep dropping the PS3 price to match 360.. they are going to end up like Microsoft last gen.. without a cent of profit.

Thats the way I see it at the moment anyhow.
