Artists are not equal in ability or talent. Sony first party has better artists Imo. I don't see how anyone can argue between them.
Does that mean it will always remain so? Only an idiot or Sith believes in absolutes.
Phase exchange cooling, correct?
Tom's Hardware said that calling it liquid cooling was "technically correct" but splitting hairs is fun on SW.
There is liquid in side the cooler/vapor chamber. However, that kind of cooling is not what people are referring to when they normally talk about liquid cooling.
Tis true. My underlying point was that the solution they used was more costly to produce than the standard air-cooled heat-sink in consoles. Their economy of scale, more or less, dictates that making such a move was worth the expense. Sony doesn't have that luxury, and it's obvious the Pro was further along in production anyways.
Heatsinks with vapour chambers have been used in PC's and Laptops for years (both CPU's and GPU's) and they are far from expensive and certainly not any kind of of special tech developed for the Xbox One X. Most people who build their own PC's call it air cooling.
This costs about £25
Lol.. I can imagine the laughs from the person that came up with that shirt slogan knowing they had one of the shittiest games lineups in Xbox history.
That was such a fail slogan that year. They were making that claim for a collection of Rare games, a cancelled game, another Forza, a last gen remake and a timed exclusive. Halo 5 was the only significant release. That was just plain shameful. Why do people keep damage controlling for this company?
@the-a-baum: times change. In 2013 most devs were still doing ps3 games and, yes, at that time, power mattered, now is 2018, ps4 has lots of exclusives, switch has lots of exclusives and Xbox is a 4K multiplat and retro machine. Times change, the bar is set high, Microsoft failed again to notice that.
It's embarrassing that MS spent all that money R&Ding this thing only for it to die on the shelf. They probably spent a billion in development just so two million butthurt people can buy it for the entire console run. That's how you know MS has too much money and no common sense.
They had no choice, at least it shut people up on the idea that MS has the least best graphics. But then Sony moved the goal post. Heck, it forced Sony to release the amateur, I mean, Pro.
Sony really jumped the gun on the PS4 Pro though. I think they should've waited a year to beef it up more to compete with the Xbox One X. I guess they wanted it to coincide with the PSVR.
Sony targeted $399 during 16 nm process tech era i.e.
PS4 Pro has the following
PCB with 256 bit GDDR5 memory bus + unknown bus width DDR3 memory bus (this is for CPU).
GPU size around 232 mm2, selected VEGA IP focused on Compute Unit's Rapid Pack Math. GPU's ROPS remained "old school".
-------
X1X has the following
PCB has 384 bit GDDR5 memory bus.
GPU size around 285 mm2. selected near VEGA IP focused on ROPS with expanded 2MB L2 like (render) cache. This is use for tile cache rendering like on NVIDIA Maxwell/Pascal GPUs.
Only MS has learn their lesson from NVIDIA.
It's embarrassing that they went through all this trouble and the best looking console games are PS4 exclusives. No one is talking about Sea of Trash or other Xbox exclusives. Sony and Nintendo are running the show while MS stands in the sidelines. Their problem has never been power it has always been games. They invested heavily in games at the start of the gen but all of them were mediocre and never caught on. The only reason people laughed at their power at the start of the gen is because they ere charging more money for weaker hardware and they were gonna launch with DRM. If they had games and didn't botch their launch no one would have cared if they had slightly worse graphics than PS4.
The most powerful console of the gen has never meant shit. OG Xbox was the most powerful and got hammered by the PS2. PS3 was more powerful but it didn't stop it from staggering at launch. Neo Geo was more powerful and yet the SNES still destroyed it. The most important thing a console can bring to the table is its games. An affordable price is also very important at launch too. MS just doesn't get it and Xbox is run by a bunch of idiots in suits that are completely out of touch wit gamers. They should have not launched the X, they should have dedicated all the time and resources to making their 1st party good again like Sony did at the end of the PS3's life, so that they can have momentum going into next gen. Now they've released the X and it's flopping with the additional stigma of Xbox having no games. It's going to make it very easy for Sony to steamroll them again with the PS5 in 2019/2020.
SNES has max display color is 32,768 (using color arithmetic for transparency effects)https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Super_NES_Programming/SNES_Specs
Neo_Geo has max display color is 4096 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neo_Geo_(system)#Display
SNES has weaker Ricoh 65c816 (similar to Western Design's 65816) CPU when compared Neo_Geo's Motorola 68000.
SNES's GPU is pretty good with crap CPU.
For the life of me, I still don't know how they revealed this thing two years before it launched but couldn't be arssed to have an exclusive that would put the graphical questions to rest. I'd say the Scorpio launch was one of the most botched hardware launches I've seen if it weren't for some of Sega's shenanigans and, of course, how the original Bone launch went.
They thought Forza 7 would be enough to persuade people...but then GT Sport released in the same holiday time frame as Forza 7.
Despite Forza 7 looking really good and in native 4K 60fps, you'd be hard pressed to convince anyone it was something you needed to go out and pay $500 to experience when GT Sport was sitting right there beside it on PS4 looking every bit as good.
Digital Foundry even gave GT Sport the edge in overall graphics running on a Pro and that, as they say, was that.
MS didn't have ANY other games to rekindle the graphics argument after Forza 7 and then Sony released Horizon Zero Dawn and then the XB1X powah narrative became restricted to hardcore game forums like this for xbox fanboys to bring up but no one outside cared anymore.
@tgob89: the bigger problem is that racing games are way niche nowadays.
Sony and Nintendo rely mostly on 3rd person blockbuster story driven and casual family platform games respectively. Those two have bigger appeal than a racing game.
As usual, M$ doesn't know how to compete.

Which year was that exactly?
I mean, they've said it so many times this generation now that it's kind of become like a reoccurring theme.
It's like every year you expect MS to release another Forza game and then pronounce that "this year" will be the greatest in Xbox history.
@PCgameruk: What's the point of this thread? One X is the most powerful console, not really sure what you're getting at.
It's kinda sad that Microsoft put out the most powerful console in history and couldn't be arsed to put out the games to show such power... yet Sony keeps releasing games that look better on a base PS4 than any game available on X1X
No, I haven't noticed them removing the slogan, and I see no reason at all as to why they should be embarrassed for it.
What's more embarrassing, imo, is making a console without supporting it properly. Very few studios make games for Xbox. MS has enough money to buy lots of good studios to make games for them. But they don't. It's like they still kinda want to remain a contender in the console market, but at the same time kinda don't. It's weird.

They spent billion on RnDing off the shelf parts. You people needs to realize that SOny and MS don't do any RnD for the hardware, it's AMD that did it and responsible for the hardware. Sony and MS just decides which component they put in their plastic box and how much will they be charged. Gone are the days of custom console hardware.
I miss those days....

Sony is sure glad to moved from it. They wasted billions on crap piece of technology.
Microsoft has put out a ton of dumb ass slogans.. remember this one? lol
Not any where as dumb ass as Sony.
Which slogan would that be?
Well there's this one "this is for the players" when Sony made BC only if you pay to stream it, introduced paid MP, then upped the price, no cross play. Yeah all that sounds like it for the players now doesn't it lol.
One X is the most powerful console, but let's face it, there's nothing on the One X that looks as good as God of War (graphically)

As a Sony console owner, I'm pretty god damn satisfied with the output. I don't need to play with Xbox guys when the console I own has a really active and large userbase. They're the only one that can claim #4ThePlayers when the competition is #4TheDrySpells
@i_p_daily: The ps3 launched with full BC and enhancement to the largest library of console games in history and got dragged for being a few bucks more expensive than the RROD box.
Now, this generation, you get to wear the "but but but bc" pants and guess who gets the same results? Mysteries of the universe abound, but do please keep banging that drum.
@Shewgenja: 200 dollars more expensive is a "few" bucks more expensive for equal or worse hardware? Then you should never bring up the x1x price again, as it's only 100 dollars more expensive and actually has better hardware. Heck 1/2 of a "few" then should be pretty much nothing and should never enter you arguments again, right?

Lmao. Very true.

That's debatable.
I don't think "The worlds most powerful console" is nearly as embarrassing as their two year long campaign to drag the PS4 over not being "True 4k" when 6 TFlops is painfully inadequate to push native 4k resolution in most games. Sometimes, XBox gets some unnecessary shit, but they totally deserve the dragging they are getting lately.

I think so MS wanted to sell the X on graphics alone, so much so they were relying on multiplatform games and developers to push out 4k games without needing to release exclusives IP's. They don't have the games, losing out on multiplatform games and their powerful console is being outdone graphically by a cheaper console with plenty of games.
Id say they've done more damage to themselves than any competitor could have.
Most people do not care about how powerful Xbox One X is. That's why fortnite and minecraft are some of the most popular games in the world. Xbox does not have compelling software, that's why people are talking more about a single game: God of War instead of an entire console: Xbox one X. Although the Xbox One X is more powerful, the PS Pro is still capable of technically outputting 4K just like One X and most console gamers don't care or don't see the difference in power between the two. What they do notice is the games and Playstation pretty much undeniably is slaughtering them in this department. When you can play most xbox games on PC and Playstation is more popular and has more compelling software, that means that most of the world does not care about Xbox and they are only for a small niche of the target demographic

Digital Foundry didn't compare FM7's wet weather against GT Sport.
