I can't believe lemmings. Even after the 360 has had failure rates that some are reporting to be in the area of 40%, and even after M$ (FINALLY) admitted after 2 years that every single one has a design flaw, they STILL stand by their company. Some people have reported having to turn their console in 3-4 times to be fixed/replaced. How can anyone stand for that?

I don't understand this. If Nintendo ever released a system with an inherent design flaw and astronomically high failure rates, us sheep would drop Nintendo like a bad habit. Where are lems so blindly loyal? Is it Bill Gates' power of mind control?

Oh wait, and Sony fanboys don't stand beside Sony after a disapointing start to the PS3's life, the rediculous price tag, and all of the insultingly ridiculous comments farted out of the rear ends of every top Sony CEO?

This from the guy who said that Sony and MS don't have a single game to compete with SMG and Metroid Prime 3?

Who cares if it's free. How long is it gone for when they fix it? However long it is, that's time that you can't play your games. You people must think Bill Gates is a god or something.

Design flaw does not equal a failure rate. Just because it has a design flaw doesnt mean its broken, it just means it has a chance to. Anyway its all about the games not the system, but yeah if MS made me buy a whole new system because the 360 failed then I would be pissed but they fixed my 360 for free a while back and it took a week at most to get back to me so it didnt bother me at all.

before i start, no, im not a lemming, im multiplat (almost, dont haev a ps3...yet)

because the games are fun, i had 2 ps2s die on me and i kept getting them replaced, why? because he games are fun and actually, not everyone has the problem, the console deaths is a minority of the people and i beleave the rate is 30%-ish

they just spent a ton of money to extend the warintee to 3 years for every console for the #1 problem they have, the rings of death, and their online support is the best of any console, its not a matter of brainwashing, and honestly, dont lie, you would not drop nintendo, nintendo saved gaming from death, its a company that can do no wrong, sony messed up so bad with the ps3, and nobody cares about that, its all about the failure rate that gets fixed for free for 3 years, i beleave sony made the bigger mistake.

I can stand for it because I get a new Premium complete with HDD and wireless controller everytime mine breaks. Also I quite like the game lineup. Which I would assume is why most people don't just sell their 360 and replace it with another console. People are loyal to good games, not Microsoft.

Can you post a link to where you heard that news? And I want a link from a credible source (i.e Gamespot, IGN, any actual news source like CNN, BBC) not from CRN. The same site that released the 33% failure rate from the data of one EB manager.

I see video games must control your life. It's called patience. Turn it in for it to be fixed. Watch movies, read books, hang out with your girlfriend, workout.

I can name hundreds of things I like to do more than play video games

And what do you honestly expect them to do? Throw their $400 investment in the garbage? If MS is offering free repairs, what is there left to complain about? Sure, the hardware sucks, but that's a done deal; griping about it won't resolve the issue any faster. Let that mistake bite them in the ass next generation when less people are willing to buy the next MS console right out of the gate. Just because people are happy for a 3 year warranty versus, say, no warranty and a foot up your ass for the trouble doesn't make them "blindly loyal".

The only thing that was frustrating dealing with brainwashed drones was when they tried to convince me X360 hardware didn't have a problem. Until MS came out and changed their numbers from the supposed 3-5% defective number, it was all propagada according to them. Or they would say....it's the customers not knowing how to take care of their hardware. When they would say that I would always think how stupid they were because they are basically self owning themselves......as that statement means that X360 users are somehow less intelligent than PS3/Wii owners lol.

I'm no lemming, and I will argue with anyone who downplays the seriousnessof this problem, but I'd like to add my two cents.

I bought a PS1 and PS2 both at their respective launches. My PS1 died twice due to the laser issues and I still have my original launch PS2 which occassionally has given me the DRE but a quick cleaning has always fixed it.

Speaking as a gamer and a consumer, I do NOT believe that companies intentionally make shoddy hardware. And while problem do occur and it is angering and frustrating, it is stupid to take it personally as if the company is intentionally trying to screw you over. Sure, Sony had to be sued to admit the problem, but they DID fix it before the lawsuit was over. Sure, MS lied and said they only had a %3 failure rate. It sucks that these things happen but I have to wonder if it is a chicken-and-egg issue. Customers are now self-entitled, knee-jerkers who the second something bad happens they start screaming bloody murder about the company. It gives companies an excuse to lie to avoid overly-exadgerated bad press.

Yes, these are major problems and i would argue the 360 issue is a MASSIVE problem with no easy fix. But it's not like they did it on purpose and it's not a personal slight against YOU the gamer. So long as they still provide a great gaming experience and great games, people will support them. Just like people support a local football team even during a bad season. Just like I supported the PS1 and have nothing but fond memories of it even though it broke twice.

Not really. If Nintendo did release a bad product that was unreliable, I would demand they investigate it right away and replace my unit with something that will not break. However Nintendo has a long standing history of making quality products so I am not too worried and have never purchased an extended warranty for my consoles made by them. The only device I have had break on me was a DS Phat which broke because I was stupid enough to try and hack it. So I learned my lesson from that experience but it was well over a year old when it did break. My PS2 works flawlessly and so do my GC and Wii and I have not once had to get them fixed.

Right and sony fans standing by the stupid disc read error crap with the ps2. or how the PS3 is 600 bucks so sony can shove a bluray player in ur house. or how they have a "price drop" just so they can push out the 60 gig out of the way, and start selling 80 gig PS3. or how there online stinks. or how they launched with really nothing worth mentioning.

and nintendo fans how they stand by a company that ticked of 3rd party during the 64 run. had no online on the gamecube. launched the Wii with no online games but promise of online. launched crappy online games like Pokemon battle revolution. Sold out on stage at E3 to the non gamers. not casuals. non gamers. U know the same nintendo that thinks friend codes is them being serious about online. Oh yeah Sheep arent the most brainwashed out there. No they fail to relise how bad Nintendo sold out to begin with.

Microsoft has spent money on getting 360 its own exclusives versus the other 2 consoles. MS could care less if those games go to PC, because that just gives more PC gamers a reason to stick with XP or move onto vista. they offer the best online content and service versus PS3. they dont shove HDDVD in the console to make a point. They offer u the choice to get it if u want. NO legit source has given a number like 30%. Did ign, gamespot, 1up, gameinformer, gamepro, etc report that statistic yet. NO. why because there is no credible source to go by yet. IS it faulty yes. is it 40% no. Is it 30% probably not. 20% PROBABLY. but the 360 offers the best games, the best online content versus the other 2 consoles. PC is miles ahead of all 3 consoles so bring up the PC all u want, its not like PS3 or Wii cant match up to it either.

The denial was as immense as it was stupid. It was either some vast internet conspiracy conducted by Sony shills or users putting ham in the discdrive and tossing it in the oven or whatever. And the occasional "the ps2 had DRE's, pwned" and "mine works fine, pwned!"

Well, truly we don't have anything to worry about in that department. :P

But, you know, as long as they fix it for free, I don't see the humongous deal. But then, I haven't seen the Rings of Death on my 360.

No one can deny that the 360 has had allot of technical problems.Although it has not happened to me, it has happened to people I know. But considering that Microsoft will fix it for free and that the 360 in terms of games is the best console right now I don't see why people shouldn't get it.I'm on my 3rd PS2 because the first two got disk read errors so don't imply that this has only happened to Microsoft. And the different is that MS is now fixing the 360s for free, Sony never did that for me.

But I own all next gen console so I'm not as bias as some people that try to justify their purchase by putting down other consoles. And right now, the 360 is the best console.

If Nintendo ever released a system with an inherent design flaw and astronomically high failure rates, ussheep would drop Nintendo like a bad habit. Where are lems so blindly loyal? Is it Bill Gates' power of mind control?

Number_1_Gamer

you're just talking out of your @$$ because you know you won't.

so you just want everyone that likes and owns an xbox 360 to just say screw this and get another console? what about the people that have never had a problem before like me (i've had it for about a year), and everyone that has had a console fixed will be given their money back. since it's a 3 year warranty i feel safe at least until that time is up even if i do have to send it in once. plus it has all the games i like so i think i will be keeping my 360 i have a hunch 99% of others will as well.

But....my launch console hasnt failed, and thats all that matters. The failure rate can be 300%. I could care less untill it affects me.

I'm loyal to great games that suit my tastes and needs. But hey, you're a Wii fan, so you probably don't know what that's like yet.

[QUOTE="Newnab"]I'm not saying it isn't a great game, but the fact is, it didn't score AAA here. The backlash from crazed Nintendo fanboys was incredible. There was porn in every thread, death threats to the reviewer... It was just ridiculous, and you never see that sort of thing from 360 or PS3 fans. At least not yet.Tsug_Ze_Wind

Waittill Halo 3!

I can't even imagine the after math if Halo 3 didn't get AAA or whatever it is hyped, I remember going on a hanful of sites when the TP review came out, and they all wanted Jeff's head on a stick.

MS listens to gamers first and foremost. They aren't trying to shove a movie player up anyones ***, and they aren't trying to get geriatrics to play their console. They built a true successor to last gen consoles, and are driving the gaming industry in a good direction.

My 360 has never had a problem, I've had it since Nov 2005. Now I've got a free 3 year warranty to go with the best console of this generation.

Which is sad, really...would playing a AAA game instead of a high AA made it that much more enjoyable for them or something?

look threads like this are stupid, cuz the same can be said for cows and sheep, and if your gonna drop something just because of some problems, well your gonna have a rough time through life cuz this happens with alot of products out there, and ever single xbox dosent break ok?

[QUOTE="DSgamer64"]Not really. My PS2 works flawlessly and so do my GC and Wii and I have not once had to get them fixed.Tsug_Ze_Wind

Well, truly we don't have anything to worry about in that department. :P

But, you know, as long as they fix it for free, I don't see the humongous deal. But then, I haven't seen the Rings of Death on my 360.

Fixing it is not the problem though. Microsoft decided to sugar coat the whole problem by extending the warranty to 3 years, yet they are too stupid to get off their fat American rear ends and do some investigating into the manufacturing processes. I hope to god that M$ released the 65nm die hardware soon into the 360, maybe it will fix all the hardware flaws. I was considering getting one but knowing that there is at least a 30% failure rate, I am not going to bother until it is fixed and I doubt that will happen any time soon.

The beauty of it is. If something does happen, Im covered for free. Guess I can game on while others look at movies or play 1 year old 360 ports....

Well if I had to replace my 360 several times I WOULD be pissed. But I haven't and in fact most people haven't the numbers are overblown and even so Microsoft is doing repairs for free and are admitting they have a problem. Sony didnt do that with the failure ridden PS2. Also Nintendo, never had a problem with any of their systems which is just another reason Im loyal to them as well.

Well, the review was pretty crappy....we may have taken it a bit too far though.

I still believe that that review was controversial for the sake of controversy. What would be a perfect game to repeat such controversy with? Halo 3.
