exactly! What bothers me is that they PAY for time exclusive of XBLA games. That is pathetic. No one buys a console to have castles crashers as a exclusive for a year.

[QUOTE="nhh18"]exactly!It is different though for japanese rpg, and that stuff. They want to expand there market in japan. XBLA no one is buying a console for it. It is the funniest thing to hear about a 2 week time exclusive for mvc 2. And that stuff. Anyone who disagrees is absoloutly insane. What bothers me is that they PAY for time exclusive of XBLA games. [QUOTE="nhh18"]Where did you see Sony paying for MGS4? And SE said FF XIV could possibly be coming to X-Box 360 in the future. If they ported it to the xbox 360 it would have sold an extra 3 to 4 million. 50 million dollar loan for an expansion that sold only 1 million. They basically gave away 10 million dollars if the second one sells similarly (which is unlikely).[QUOTE="CaseyWegner"]

The only reason is that sony probably paid alot of money to lock up that game as an exclusive. FF14 same for a time exclusive most likely. MGS4 was built for the PS3 and had alot of things that would've needed to be taken out or switched around. Kojima himself wanted it on the PS3 and insulted the 360 with his movie theather reference to the PS3. Even then with Blu-Ray Kojima was disappointed with how far he got with the PS3 so I think it's that he didn't want to downgrade his vision farther then he already did but putting it on the 360. Yes, Sony could have payed but there is no actual proof like with the GTA4 expansions. As for FF XIV, even though FF XI was later ported to the 360 (which some thought was out of place) it was originally only for PS2/PC just like XIV is now.[QUOTE="CaseyWegner"]

This isn't one (I think), they aren't paying any interest or any of that stuff. It is basically more of a settlement that 50 million $ for both gta 4 expansion packs exclusive and we get the profit 100% for the first 50 million dollars (probably 90% or 95%). There is no renagging for the money (I think). And it isn't going to make 50 million dollars. Flat out.[QUOTE="CaseyWegner"]

You gotta link for that MGS4 claim? And FF14 isn't exclusive to the PS3 to begin with - it is releasing alongside a PC version as well, and the devs have stated they would like to bring it to the 360, but have a current impasse in negotiations with MS.
I'm not gonna bash MS on their strategy, because it has worked well for them, and with a dearth of first party developers, they really don't have a lot of options. It's a business, and if any of the three want to pay up, well that's business. But let's not just make up stuff.

I don't need a link. There would be no reason other than fanboyism to believe that there wasn't a deal between sony and konami to release mgs4 exclusive to ps3. They could have easily ported it (and even if there were graphical downgrades which would be probably at a bare minimum) it would have still made a ton of money. I mean was there a deal for gta san andreas to be exclusive to ps2 even if there wasn't an announcement. I know sony lopcked that exclusive up.I like how $ony paysmillions to make things exclusive just so the 360 would not have it. Wow $ony seriously.

oh so rockstar is in debt to MS?It's called business. You think no other company has done it? And for the last time, MS didn't pay $50 million for GTA IV DLC. They gave R* an advance on $50 million. MS is getting paid back out of the money R* is making from the DLC.

halo 3 is not an expansion pack that is easily lost in the xbl marketplace either. Do you honestly think that a casual gamer is going to go through the xbl marketplace to buy gta 4 lost and damned 6 months later. Or someone is going to buy a xbox 360 and halo 3 at a store?[QUOTE="santoron"]

Of course there are reasons other than a payment for why Kojima wanted to focus on one console. For example, developing on one system allows you to focus your dev team on one set of problems, and to exploit the strengths of one machine more thoroughly. Do I know that is the one reason MGS4 went exclusively to the PS3? Nope, and I don't claim it as a fact. But it has every bit as much credence as your theory.

Final Fantasy 14 is not an exclusive or a system seller though... this will be penetrating the PC market more than anything, but i guess if the Console version supports mouse and keyboard you will have a fighting chance of a "decent" experiance with it. I loved seeing this message back in the day using the FF11 translater: (Looking For Players) (Dungeon Name Here) (Xbox 360) (Playstation 2 User) (No Thanks) haha classic.[QUOTE="Flamestos"][QUOTE="nhh18"]

[QUOTE="nhh18"]lost and damned is already off shelves. lost and damned is gonna be sold with ballad of gay tony....Sigh. I'm not going to bother. Microsoft made a 50 million $ investment. Gay tony, and lost and damned time exclusive for a year. Gay tony needs to sell 1.5 millionr or lost and damned needs to sell 500,000 and gay tony needs to sell 1 million. To make the 50 million dollars assuming that rockstar gets zero profit for the first 50 million dollarsr (which is unlikely and probabl not true). Expansion packs decline in sales (unless there is a sell-out rate 1:1 for gay ballad for the people who bought lost and damned which is not going to happen). So people should expect gay tony ballad to sell 800,000 k (which is probably going to be a case), and gta lost and damned at 1.2 million. Which means there is going to still be 10 million dollars left in rockstar pocekts.[QUOTE="spliffstar12"] lost and damned and ballad of gay tony is coming out on a disc so it will sell a lot morespliffstar12
I don't want to argue about this silly thing but here are some stats that you guys might like. The DLC of lost and damned sold 6:1 on dlc to shelves (which means it sold roughly 180,000-200,000 in shelves and 720,000-800,000 on dlc. There is no chance (I think) that microsoft will make any profit on this investment. And the gay tony, and lost and damned pack would be lucky to get 50,000 sold.
