[QUOTE="hazuki87"]

Not much more ridiculous than somebody buying a Mac in my opinion. Not that Windows is a good operating system (its not) and not that MacOS is bad or worse (its better) but Mac charges an absurb ammount for the same hardware you can buy on NewEgg on a PC you build and customize yourself. Then you can put whatever OS on that you like. Mac users bother me for that reason, they more often than not, are paying for the Apple logo so they can go sit in Panera or Starbucks and look like a tool...

not directed at Mac users in here specifically but a large part of the Mac userbase.

RCade3

I got a macbook pro solely because i was told it was the best for video editing, something i'm looking into doing professionally.

yeah... if you want to do sound/video editing Macs are the best, they also have edge in 2D graphics(not because of superiority, pcs are equal already, Macs are just standart for people in this industry). for every other professional use Windosws is better

[QUOTE="blacktorn"] Oh no you've turned into a overhyping macfan already :Pmusicalmac

Keep in mind, there is a difference between an over-hyping mac fanboy, and someone who knows what they're talking about. :)

I've used Final Cut HD bunches, and I've used Premier bunches. Final Cut gets the nod from me.

Avid editing software owns both though

Well..FCP is best choice for amateursandindie but if you're thinking about doing it professionaly... well better learn Avid

, it's not only a bit more powerful, but since it supports both Windows and Macs it will offer you bigger versality.

Still...Macs have both, so I guess they win :D video and music editing are bassicaly the very last true strongholds where Mac isn't loosing in professional tasks.

Yeah, but you can't run all mac apps on windows nor all windows app for Mac, it has to be designed for both. Like for instance, what if the 360 had a blu-ray drive. then because of the disc space on blu-ray developers can put both the 360 and ps3 on the same disc. with your question: "Can you play PS3 games on 360? Or wii ones on ps3?" PC and Macs are the samething. You can't always play pc games on macs.

[QUOTE="khamsaiumn"][QUOTE="musicalmac"]My take is that computers are computers, and I don't think we should distinguish between Mac or PC gamers. They're playing the same game.AdrianWerner

But that means a game console is a game console therefore we shouldn't distinguish them. PS3 and 360 play the same games in similar fashion.

Can you play PS3 games on 360? Or wii ones on ps3? Exacly

Now Macs even have the same parts inside them as PCs. You can install Windows on Mac and OSX on PC, they're both personal computer systems.

Anyway obviously Windows is better choice. it still has ten times more games for it than macOS and even the games Mac is getting are released with huge delays most of the time.

You can install Windows in Intel Macs and it will run almost as good as on PC and you will be able to play almost all games, just like you can install OSX on PC and play the few Mac-only games on your PC. They're bassicaly the same format now for games

Macs hardware is PC, only the OS differs

you dont notice every piece of hardware in your computer.. most of the time you spend within a price range and get what you pay for. pc and mac are not too far off. ive had both, im into sound design i use a mac. if i were into pc gaming ide have windows. fortunatly for me i have a ps3 to do that on, controllers over keyboards any day. anyone who doesnt like that macs are popular now...? more pc's for you. because weather or not you think it does, a nice interface and a good smooth running OS matter. not to mention the convieniance a 24'' imac to work with.

Im getting a Mac... not for gaming though. But I will play Starcraft 2 with it ^_^
I like OSX and am very annoyed at MS. Even their Windows Mobile freezes up on pocket PCs, its just horrible.

With the new Macs having Intel CPUs, I don't really see much difference in a Mac or PC these days, except for the OS itself. Most of the people who are gaming on Macs are dual booting Windows anyway.

Personally, I'm not a Mac person. I dislike the OS, and Macs stillcost more than a comparably equipped PC.

But couldn't you say that about the PS3 and the 360. They use similar components in the systems. Such as Memory, harddrive, processors, etc... When you install windows on mac you are essentially using windows and not mac to play the games. If this wasn't important than why would EA release a differenct cover for the Mac games and not just use the ones that are already for windows PC. Much like hacking the PS3 to use the linux to emluate windows and playing windows apps. I think we should distinguish the two, and i only believe it relevant when the Mac eclusive games become stronger. So in the mean time it's a little too early.

systems mean hardware, not software though. It's would be like distinguishing Linux gamers as separate group. Or making Japanese 360 owners separate group from Us 360 owners

I'd consider a Mac if their price-to-performance ratio wasn't so horrible compared to a typical IBM clone. In regards to Mac gaming, I think that early computer games such as Wolfenstein 3D, Starflight, and System Shock actually looked BETTER on the Mac for whatever reason. However, when it comes to the modern day, Macs are quite lacking on the gaming front. You can install Windows on one now and kill the game compatibility argument, yes, but for the same price as one of those PowerMacs(2500 US$), I could build an IBM clone with a much better graphics card, a great sound card, and comparable CPU power, thus enhancing the game experience. And, besides, I can just use said IBM clone to emulate a 680x0-based Mac to play the games that did turn out to be better on the Mac. (I don't think that there are any PowerPC Mac OS games worth noting, so the inability to emulate PPC-based Macs shouldn't be an issue.)

We are aware. Thats just adding an additional cost of another OS on hardware that is already pricey compared to equivalent hardware for a PC. Plus, how many macs are upgrade friendly? And when they are the upgrades are more expensive.

Mac is great for whatever it does. PC gaming is already expensive if you want a quality rig, Mac just makes it even more expensive and yet more restrictive in hardware.

mac is junk, it's like using the os without any control over it. It does everything for you and leave you helpless if something goes wrong. And installing ram on the new mac book pro is a pain
