and why the hell aren't you PS3 users buying GAMES? I mean damn...Madden always sold most on PlayStation consoles. And what of the PS2 version? barely half a million with the kind of install base it has in N.A.? WTH?

EA doesn't have to advertise Madden. Everyone who owns a gaming console in America knows Madden comes out mid August. Period. Presuming these sales figures are relatively accurate, the lack of PS2 sales in particular is baffling. PS3 sales are also very low.

Alright everybody look at that Wii number. How is it that only 50k were sold when there are 10 million Wiis on the market? Simple, the audience who bought the Wii has little to no care for Madden. That means Nintendo has sucessfully opened a new market for themselves. This is good for Nintendo, bad for us gamers.

I actually don't think it was flame-bait. He is simply asking why history isn't repeating and why Madden didn't sell more on the PS3 then it did. Dreams-Visions is a good poster (IMO), so I doubt he meant it as flame-bait even if it came across as such.

So you're basically saying that EA is wasting all their money advertising Madden? Man, EA should listen to you for advise on how to build a successful football franchise.

Seriously, at least watch some Madden commercials. The 360 version is the one that is advertised the most. At the end of the commercial, it's always the 360 logo that appears. I don't care if you don't believe that EA has to advertise Madden or not. The fact is that there is such a commercial running.

Then either people don't know or they've migrated to the 360 version. Either way, there's still a lot of sales to go cause I think Madden sells around 7 mil or so? It could also be that the Madden Challenge is held on the 360. Most of the hardcore Madden crowd will usually go for that version.

So at the moment, I would guess that the casuals haven't gone out and bought their copies yet. That's my guess.

again, people don't need Madden advertised in the States. Madden day is damn near a national holiday. lack of advertising doesn't explain the lack of PS2 sales in particular.

Just an assumption more than anything else. Numbers look a bit better to me with that info. Something like 1 in every 10 PS3 owners have picked it up compared to around 1 in every 6 360 owner.

And yes, the PS2 numbers are suprising low, IMO. only 1 in 80 PS2 owners have picked up Madden '08. that's unusual, given most gamers have not moved nextGen.

I've not said advertising doesn't work to drive sales. I'm a Marketing Director. I'm simply saying that in this case, while marketing should *help* the 360 version sell itself...it shouldn't *hurt* the sales figures for the other versions to this degree. People who buy madden buy it almost religiously. It's like they're not so interested this year or something. Idunno.
