Madden 360 **OUTSELLS** PS3,PS2,PSP and Wii combined

shouldn't have come off as flame-bait, no. I really wasn't aware of current console sales figures in the region. I really did think the PS3 console sales were around 50% or so of 360 sales in NA. Just an assumption more than anything else. Numbers look a bit better to me with that info. Something like 1 in every 10 PS3 owners have picked it up compared to around 1 in every 6 360 owner.

And yes, the PS2 numbers are suprising low, IMO. only 1 in 80 PS2 owners have picked up Madden '08. that's unusual, given most gamers have not moved nextGen.

Blame Nintendo. If the Wii could handle current gen multiplats it would have gotten the PS3 version but with the added controls.

Since it can't, it got the PS2 version with added controls.

this proves that madden is still a very powerful name and that "100 million ps2 owners" is not what it's cracked up to be...

my heart still belongs to nfl2k series, but this is good news for the 360...

you KNOW this game sold at least a few 360...:)

I played it for the first time last night. So damn complicated (I haven't played a Madden game on purpose since like...2002). I still beat my brother (who owns the game) 54 - 7 (I used the Eagles...he used the Colts) 8)

But all that shifting and audibling and stuff? Almost gave me a headache just looking at it. I can see how lovers of the series would enjoy the enhancements, though.

Good point. I thought Madden Wii sold well last year. Maybe it left a bitter taste in people's mouthes? As I recall, Madden '07 on the Wii wasn't very good, amirite?

It is an interesting outcome. Madden is an american game and America is MS' strongest market so the good sales on the 360 were expected. The poor sales, particularly on the wii, are a little more difficult to understand.

Personally I'm glad the sales are so poor, I wish the 360 version's sales were down as well, so EA would get the message "Yearly incremental updates aren't worth our money" but *shrugs* thats just me.

One thing to watch tho is how well the sales go over the following weeks, if the PS3, PS2 or even the Wii versions continue selling decently for a few weeks and the 360 sales drop off sharply after the big start, it could even out a bit.

Get used to seeing these type of numbers for multiplat games. I've been preaching since Day 1 that THIS is what makes the 360 the King this gen. Sheep can jump up and down about the Wii passing the 360 in total console sales, but when the 360 outsells the Wii 15.5 to 1, that is huge. They both have the exact same install base, but - guess what? - Wii owners don't buy games like 360 owners do.

Sure, there is a huge rush of devs to the Wii right now, but when they see numbers like this start coming back, I can almost guarantee you that they will re-focus back on the 360. It sells games. Period.

The next generation of consoles is here. The PS2's time in the sun has come and gone. People have moved on to the next gen and it's becoming more apprent with thesesales figures.Last year's Madden challenge (a very large tournament) was played with the 360 version of Madden.This years version of Madden is far better than Madden 07 or 06 ever were and the 360 has the best version. Hell, just check the scores.

Could be but I remember a stronger marketing push for the Wii version last year and if you look at, say, Red Steel's sales you can kinda see demand on the Wii is kinda marketing sensitive. Red Steel was in your FACE and it sold a million (correct me if I'm wrong) even though it was a launch game.

For context, Red Steel isn't a great game but it sold well, many other games that aren't very good sell horribly and they don't have that great a marketing push.
