Madden is madden on every console but the Wii. If you played madden on the ps2, you can play it on the 360 and ps3.
Grats to you.
then why are all the major tounaments on the 360 version?lazzordude
Tournaments rely on popular convention in order to set fair standards and is no indicator whatsoever in regards to which version is actually better.
However I'm English and have no opinion on Madden whatsoever. I'm just sayin'.
then why are all the major tounaments on the 360 version?lazzordude
Well first off the '09 versions aran't out yet so that statement is simply wrong. I'm sure that the tournaments will be on the 360 or PS3 version though. The reason for that is simple because most people are all about graphics. That does not mean that they will be the best versions though...just the most purchased.

Just because it's the most purchased and played version DOES NOT make it the best version. If you think that's the case then your simply wrong.
Wow, there're alot of uninformed people on here. "Call Your Shot" mode is the single biggest Madden innovation since it first went online back in 2003, and the only console that can do it is the Wii.svetzenlether
Oh my god! I mean, I only subscribe to two gaming magazines and read countless gaming sites, not to mention posting on GS - alot - . I must not know anything!
I know all about Madden. I still highly doubt it will be better on the Wii. Before you try calling others names, you would do well to realize you are posting on a message board with quite a few posters who are knowledgeable in gaming.

Funny, the entire defense of the Wii as a system revolves around its sales success. Good to know people are finally beginning to realize commercial success doesn't equal quality.
There is no feature that the Wii is capable of adding that other systems are not - however the 360 & PS3 version can have sound (discrete surround), graphics (720p+), online (real infrastructure vs. friends codes), multiplayer (greater system power and online capabilities), add-on content (hard drives vs memory cards, and again online infrastructure) and features (system power) that the Wii version is incapable of.
Of course, by your "opinion" the DS version could be the best because it's "new and completely different" - and no fact is required to back this type of thinking (ever, it would seem). Let's give it up already, the Wii was cute, Nintendo came clean and said "it's a toy, not a gaming system" and putting it in the a position where it's essentially in a hardware war with far more expensive, powerful systems is like entering a toy poodle in the Kentucky Derby... Fluffy's going to get squished, and feelings are going to get hurt.
I'm not saying you shouldn't enjoy your Wii, but let's get real for a second, the claim that the Wii someone generates "better gameplay" has been shown to be fallacious repeatedly - and it's getting *so old* for all of the gamers involved to listen to the few people left on the Wii defense force rehash this crap. Let's leave it to Nintendo and EA to re-release the same ideas year-after-year, ok?
The Wii one will definitely be something new to experiance with the Call Your Shots mode and everything else, but if you're into the hardcore Madden experiance then get the 360 or PS3 version. Simple as that.
I myself will be getting the best of both worlds this year.

Seriously, this is getting old. We all know you feel like a jilted lover with regards to the Wii, and you have countless walls of text for anyone to peruse through that either doesn't know or ACTUALLY cares enough. The main point in this is one feature in particular, "Call Your Shot", that, while the other consoles COULD do, would have such a terrible interface due to the controller that it wouldn't be worth it. This IS the most innovative feature in a Madden games since online play first became a feature back in 03.
To address a couple of your other points, Madden on the Wii won't require the use of friend codes (thank god, because you're right, they DO suck), and as far as a better package due to system power goes, I've played ALOT of different versions accross multiple platforms including the Wii and 360, and in every version from 2001 on, the animation still looks more like a video game and less like a TV broadcast, I can kick the crap out of the Texans with pretty much any team, and I get my backside handed to me on a regular basis when I try to play online. These have not changed with the benefit of added processor or GPU power, and I doubt they will.
[QUOTE="Stevo_the_gamer"]What? Wii's Madden 08 wasn't any better - what makes you think 09 would be any different? :roll:Zhengi
Well, Madden 07 Wii was the best version that year, so I don't see how your argument is valid at all.
Didn't the Wii version come out months after the other console versions? What? Wii's Madden 08 wasn't any better - what makes you think 09 would be any different? :roll:Stevo_the_gamer
read the IGN review first. The Madden 09 for Wii was a major overhaul if Madden could ever have one. Yes its missing some generic modes the PS3 and 360 versions have but it does have Call Your Play which is the single biggest innovation in the series. If they could expand that to everything I might actually buy Madden.
These have not changed with the benefit of added processor or GPU power, and I doubt they will.

The Wii has simply given EA another system to split features across - lending them the ability to suck Madden fans dry by removing features from some version, encouraging them to buy multiple versions. As far as lack of AI improvements, the unfortunate truth has been that every version of Madden has been broken to varying degrees - they change from year to year (the people saying they don't have never played Madden) but there are always glitches, always exploits, and a skilled player can always annilate the AI, unless some kind of heavy cheating is employed by the game (which isn't really strategy, it's just frankly cheating).
But that's not the fault of the PS3 or 360 - that's EA's fault. The bottom line was that it's idiotic to put the Wii into what is basically a hardware competition. The Wiimote isn't going to stand up to systems that cost far more money and have heavier-hitting hardware, it wasn't meant to, Nintendo sure as hell isn't trying to - and you're simply betting on EA shafting 360 / PS3 owners more than they shaft Wii owners.
Kind of a dumb competition, really.
do people not understand that Madden 09 will PLAY different than the other maddens? if you want an insight then go play PES 2008 and even upgrade that. I am not a sports fan in general but even i know madden 09 will be much different than 08 :|
BTW madden 08 Wii>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> madden 08 PS3.
Ive played madden on the wii,
and it just straight out sucks,

I thought 09 wasn't out until Tuesday...

Wow. Just...wow. Did somebody from Nintendo run over your dog or something?? I'll keep this strictly grounded in Madden, since that's the thread's topic, and I'll say it again, because you seem to have not read one of my points: Call Your Shot mode could've been put in the 360/PS3 version of the game, sure, but due to the nature of each console's controller, the interface would be so frustrating (anyone remember the sheer gamepad-tossing frustration of the spraypaint mode in the Warriors??) that it wouldn't be worth it. It'd probably end up largely unused, kinda like the passing cone. The ONLY viable console for this feature is currently the Wii, and it's because of the Wiimote.
Yeah, it's a trade-off: the other versions get the shiny high-res graphics, the hardest of the hard-core online players, and the in-game Tom Bradys and Brian Urlachers acting a little bit more like their real-life counterparts. The Wii version, in the meantime, can't compete with the others in those respects (although it does what it can), but like I said earlier, the Wiimote gives it a major advantage the others don't have. It's not a question of EA shafting one set of owners over the others, it's a matter of good programming on EA's studios' part by catering to the strengths of the 360/PS3 and Wii.
I have Wii and 360, but i would buy it on 360.
So i guess that means it's fact that the 360 version is best aswell
then why are all the major tounaments on the 360 version?lazzordude
Adaption. People who play in tournaments are the same people who've bought the game for the past 12 years or whatever and they are used to the same old controls, the same teams, the same plays and manouvres. If they were to use the Wii version it'd be like they'd have to learn the game again. Same as if a new Counter Strike came out on the PC but is used the keyboard to aim and the mouse to move they would still use Source for tournaments because it's what everyone is used to and good at.
What? Wii's Madden 08 wasn't any better - what makes you think 09 would be any different? :roll:Stevo_the_gamerWe don't need your biased views in this thread.
Going by the reviews of the games since 07, and the previews of 09 I think its safe to predict that Madden Wii could score better, and be proclaimed better.
Just a prediction.
Has anyone seen the coverart for the Wii version vs the 360/PS3 versions? On the PS3/360 Favre is doing an action pose like throwing a pass. On the Wii cover, he looks puzzled, almost like he has to use the bathroom. Sorry, but the Wii will be by far the more casualized version. Most of the enhancements will be on the 360/PS3 versions. I'm willing to bet the PS3/360 versions will have an imediate roster update...AlphaGamer469
Never judge a game by it's cover?
I've got a PS3 yet I'm planning on buying the Wii version. The Wii version is just so cool. The ability to design plays on the fly is just plain incredible. Graphics are fine and all but I'm really excited to try something completely new and different. Firelore29
You are gonna regret buying it for the Wii when you see it on a PS3 or XBOX 360! I am not just talking graphics by the way.

So Wii Madden 07 must have been really good.

Same old Madden on the 360 / PS3. Something really new and quite fun on the Wii. Plus I will actually be able to play the Wii version with my wife. See she sucks at video games but I can set her controls to all play mode and she can just waggle her way down the field while I get to design my plays as I go...it's great.[QUOTE="too_much_eslim"]whats this call your shot mode? How is it any different from hot routes.too_much_eslimYou press a button right before the snap and it zooms out of the field. Then you click on a wide receiver and draw the route he will run. You can routes for each of your players then run the play. Check out the first video shown on the IGN review:
