Mafia 3 looks worse than GTA V?!

It looks pretty bad. GTAV on last gen consoles almost looks better.

This isn't like GTA where I walk in a place with my weapons drawn.

GTA V on PS3 was a disgrace. GTA V should've never come out on last gen consoles, and the only reason it did is because R* knew everyone would double dip. And they know they can get away with anything (just like their chracters in their games).

What are you playing Mafia III on ? PC or console ? I haven't seen the game on consoles so I can't comment. But I can sure as hell say it doesn't look as awful as GTA V on last gen consoles.

Motion blur you can turn off

Depth of Field, I don't think there is any. This is an open world game so there is a limit to draw distance anyway.

Film grain, I haven't seen, apart from cutscenes. But there is this effect like in Battlefield: if the sun is really bright and in your eyes, you see like water droplets on your screen. Nothing to annoying though.

As someone who turns off DOF, Blur, Lens flares by default, I'm not annoyed by any of the effects I can't turn off in the settings. Bloom and sunshine is a bit much... but on the other hand it adds to atmosphere of the game I think.

Just like how AC: Unity and Ac: Syndicate are overly bright. At the end of the day they are still wonderful looking games to me :)

@R4gn4r0k: Nah, honestly, GTAV on consoles was pulling some shit. It was combining the draw distance of Just Cause 2 and city density of GTA4 into one. Whatever your PC genie says, it was rolling some dice. GTAV on last gen consoles looks brilliant, if you're happy to leave your 1337 NvIdia GeForce at the side.

I'm playing Mafia 3 on Ps4 and it lacks graphical fidelity and charm.

You're beating your head up against a brick wall. Ol Brain-Cell here simply doesn't have the brain juice nor the capacity to catch all of the nuance that Rockstar put's into the GTA games. It's like trying to get 5 year old who loves hot dogs to appreciate steak.

@freedomfreak: Everything looked like crap as soon as it moved a couple of meters away from you. Up close everything looked great sure, but I've never felt so much in a bubble as I did in GTA V on PS3.

The huge city akin to Just Cause and the density akin to GTA IV was there because it was designed for more powerful systems ... always was.

Go play GTA V on PS3/360 right now, play it side by side with Mafia 3 and tell me it looks better.

You know what I liked most in GTA ? Just stirring shit up... Starting chaos... Standing on top of a vehicle with a bazooka or grenade launcher and just blowing shit up...

Did you forget that doing so meant your game would run in the low 10s, on BOTH PS3 and XBOX 360 (though PS3 had it far worse). You can call me out on being a PC gamer all you want. Even as a console gamer this was completely unacceptable to me.

But GTA V is not a last gen port on current gen consoles. It was built from the ground up for current gen consoles and PC :/

Running Mafia III on an I3 with 2GB of RAM and a HD4000 graphics chip is the same as running GTA V on PS3. You can try it, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who wants an enjoyable gaming experience.
