MAG has sold 500k WW

According to this post from Sony MAG has sold half a million copies since release.

"Over half a million of you have already chosen your allegiance in MAG, and have played over 270,000 games in the Shadow War."

Not bad, considering it's got both a lot of competition and it's a brand new game that many thought would fail. I hope to get it as soon as I can get the money for it and a headset.

Haha that's funny because just as I got ME2 my RAM started dying. Luckily I had a lifetime warranty on them, and I had a spare 2gb stick.

Well it's not really sad, because the Cows hyped it and then changed their minds after the beta. It stands to reason the sales wouldn't be astronomical.

500K is pretty good for a new IP that didn't have strong marketting and mostly went under the radar.

wow then it must have sold alot in europe then.

Another thing to think about this is total WW sales to date. The game may have had a slow first week because there were no reviews posted.

Seriously though? A new game that MANY doubted has been out for 3 WEEKS and this "terrible" game has managed to sell over 500,000 copies? Oh god, next week they might be bankrupt! Give me a break. If I could sell half a million ANYTHING in 3 weeks I'd be ecstatic. Give it time.

Also, side question: At what point to you does MAG cease to be a failure in the sales department? 2 million? 5 million? Are you gonna be like Death in Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey and keep pushing up the amount of accolades the game needs to receive before you acknowledge it as being a respectable game?

Why are people saying good these are good numbers? we dont know what sony were expecting this to sell. To them this might have been a big fail or a big success. I just find it hard SW posters can determine whether a game sold well without have any information.yoyo462001

solid numbers for a solid game.Actually its done bettter than SW expected its pretty weird.

MAG came out towards the end of January and has already done half of what you predict in about half a month. You giving it the whole year sounds a bit strange. It is much more likely that it will have gone past a million by the end of June but even that seems to be pushing it.

I definitely recommend giving it a chance, it really grows on you.

does anyone know what will happen to MAG servers once the game loses popularity and it becomes to expensive to run them (as they get no monthly subscription from players as pc gamers would)
