over spring break, got a chance to play MAG and I am perplexed at how much hate it has received since its release. well, actually thats a lie. im not perplexed. its a PS3 exclusive, so naturally it will be put under a microscope and held to standards that no games on any other platform are held to.
I just dont get why people cant appreciate its merits
1) its gunplay is solid. its at least on par with call of duty. in fact, its practically the same. so, I would think that it would be pretty palatable for a wide audience. there really is nothing wrong with the controls or game mechanics themselves
2) the level of customization. It gives you so many options in customizing your character and it has a very intricate leveling and point system. I see many people on SW who obsess about customization in online FPS games. and yet, they dont appreciate it at all here
3) the massive 200+ player battles. many PC gamers say that consoles cant compete in the size of their games. then this game comes along and they instantly pan it. interesting.
4) it has very in depth, tactical gameplay. it is a surprisingly smart game.
5) its graphics are pretty good and I have barely come across any lag. maybe if I played it longer I would get more lag. of course, I put in 6 or so hours, so its not an extremely laggy game.
with its massive scale battles, customization, and tactical gameplay, this seems like the kind of game that would be extremely popular among PC gamers if it were on the PC with better graphics. I guarantee that if this game were on the PC it would not have gotten the massive backlash that it received. or hell, if it were on the Xbox, it wouldnt have gotten half the scrutiny and nitpicking. it would have garnered far more 8s and 9s if that were the case.
People should give this game a fair chance and not believe all the blind hate surrounding it. dont jump on the bandwagon.
