[QUOTE="Lethalhazard"]Think what Zipper has planned, I don't think you will be able to throw a grenade all the way across a map in MAG lol. Thank god, lol.I'm not impressed by it thus far, but I'll wait for reviews. I just think (up to) 256 players in a game will be too chaotic. Sort of like Call of Duty servers with ~30+ people baking gernades and throwing them everywhere. It's just not fun. But hey, if they manage to pull it off, my gratitude will be to them. Just like when I was skeptical about Battlefield 2, and ended up loving it.

Protip: Don't insult someone's intelligence if you have difficulty with spelling.
It can be a system seller, but it needs to establish a broad appeal over gamers, consistent marketing and advertising, and pull off everything it promises well without the complaints of other great games like R2 or KZ2. But the best cows can hope for now is that it pushes up game software sales and console unit sales. It could be the next Halo, or the next great PS3 title, or another flop. I've got no doubt in my mind that Zipper can pull it off, but what about the flaws that people complain about in other PS3 games? I know 360 games have their flaws, but the PS3 can't establish its fanbase with half-working games. Anyway, I'm just hoping it will be a great game for me to enjoy.:DNYrockinlegendMe too. I don't care if it drives sales or anything else that I have no stake in. I am concerned that there is no SP. I always want a SP campaign.

To be fair, spelling is in no way a good indication of intelligence.

On topic. Im looking forward to MAG. Best game ever? I doubt it. Will it be fun? lets wait and see
[QUOTE="SecretPolice"]Did it deliver on the near insane hype for years that cows claimed it would be ? The 2 year old 360 FPS ( won't mention the name :P ) still beats it down ! That's your opinion. However, it's fact that KZ2 met hype here on GS. It was hyped AAA, it received AAA. You can't spin that any other way... why your spinning it? your only using one sites review and one sites hype which is spin.[QUOTE="PoppaGamer"] KZ2 didn't deliver? :lol:RotaryRX7

Internet hype doesn't always correlate to the real world. That's really dependent on the respective title's history, fan base, marketing, etc.
[QUOTE="Episode_Eve"]"From a personal perspective, I've got to say that I came away impressed. I'm a long-time Battlefield player and love first-person shooters as a whole, and MAG nailed it in all the right places for a competitive shooter. A solid framerate ("at least 30fps at all times"), no lag, responsive controls, a great command structure, and a persistent world where your actions contribute to your faction's ultimate goal of ruling the world, makes for what could be the top shooter of the year, on any console. Modern Warfare 2, I hope you're listening -- this is the one to beat." ---------- This has got me very interested :). Will definitely take up some of my KZ2 time :P.nervmeisterWhat source is that quote from?

The impressions pretty much seem to be average/medicore shooter gameplay with a huge amount of players. The massive amount of players dosen't really mean much if the gameplay isn't fun.

It's funny because most posters are focusing on the TC's subjective comment about "best game ever" (and KZ2 lol). When the content of the article should be in discussion.
True, but you have to blame the TC for that.
You see, I just watched the video on the main page and I have to say this game is looking epic. I don't just think this game is going to be a 256 player lagfest, I get the impression (based on the success of the Socom series) this game will have quality. Sure they're borrowing somewhat from BF2 but who cares, they adding a whole lot more aswell. I just dont want to see the few hardcore cows out there hype this game to hell and back.
Every new PS3 exclusive is some kind of king, queen or god. I think a few (notice I said few) cows round here need to keep a sense of perspective.

It's too late. The hype has already begun . A promising exclusive from a proven developer would be hyped to hell on any system.zelda OOT is the best game of all time FACT and MAG isn't going to topple it from it's number 1 spot.I just read the preview article for MAG on Joystiq where they had hands-on time: http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/29/joystiq-hands-on-mag/
They basically say that its the game for Modern Warfare 2 to beat.
I think it will be better than Modern Warfare 2 because of it's ridculously large scale (256 players online!).
I love the SOCOM games too and this sound like it will be like SOCOM but more accessiable and on a giant scale.
Basically, this is shapping up to be the greatest game of all time in my opinion.

Personally looking forward to MAG, luckily i got Resistance2 & KZ2 to satisfy my fps needs for now :P (guess MAG will be the new home for SWAG once the game gets released...;) )
Yes, yes, lets hype this for years as the phenom game to beat ummmm ......... then when finally launched after all the hype ......... KZ2 anyone.

horrible it is :) KZ2 haters still cant get over it...
I still hold Socom 1 and 2 as the best console online multiplayer games ever...So it would not be hard for me to believe that Zipper can do it again. From the latest vids I've seen with gameplay footage in limited spurts, the game looks to be coming along very nicely.
And damn, 256 players.....How awesome does that sound.....And as awesome as it sounds, I believe the sound of it won't be a patch on actually booting it up and playing it.
Imagine seing teams of 50-60 or even 100 people storming you at a capture point or something similar. If done right, this game could give you that sh1t yourself feeling, and lets get it on Rambo feeling all at the same time.
This game is looking the goods, killer app, and a game that people will buy PS3's for.
Harry_Balzac
What really intrigues me is the persistent nature of the faction wars. I've not really seen anything like that outside of an mmorpg. The fact that winning certain points or parts of the map will earn your faction benefits sounds really interesting and gives players at least a limited sense of working towards something. I can see this game having a lot of fans.

It's only horrible to those who spinorjust don't know what they just don't know.:o Also you get no hating here as I said KZ2 would get the AAA and it did but it was just barely, ya know unlike all those threads much like this one claiming it would be ........ The bestest, most awesomeness, never to be another game that can even compare with graphics surpassing Crysis on super high, selling almost gazillions etc. etc. etc.Yup Horrible comprehension is Horrible comprehension or just plain fanboyism but I'll let you both decide which one fits you best.:P

Planetside was an MMO shooter, and it sucked, so I feel your thesis has flaws. And since when is the 'more the merrier' rule in effect for games anyway? How do they split up the teams? I know Resistance 2 was supposed to have like massive huge battles, but the reviews all said that the game basically separates groups so that you're always in smaller skirmishes so that it's playable and enjoyable. 256 multiplayer that always keeps things in 16-32 player groups seems like a waste when you can buy other FPS with great 16-32 multiplayer that also have a robust single player campaign as well.Senor_Kami"I know Resistance 2 was supposed to have like massive huge battles, but the reviews all said that the game basically separates groups so that you're always in smaller skirmishes so that it's playable and enjoyable."
That's skirmish mode. Each group of say, 8 is given an objective. Defend here or, kill X person and the points rewarded total up for the entire team so it's happening all around. In other modes, especially in the Player games that have 60 players it's a Team on A side A and Team B on side B game and a whole lot of murder inbetween. One of my favourite experiences from this generation is from R2, running in a group of 30 taking on another group of 30.
There are multiple modes in MAG but one of them doesn't sound too unlike Skirmish from Resistance 2, except that from the sounds of things, as the game progresses the amount of people to any one given objective will change so it'll start small, end up with 64vs64 for one point or whatever where in Resistance 2 I remember the people per objective remaining more or less constant.
