Major Flops of 2009: A Speculation Topic

some of the most hyped games of this year are God of War 3, Modern Warfare 2, Bioshock 2, Uncharted 2, and Alan Wake.. however, history tells us that at least one of these games WILL flop. it happens every year; a game that gives us little reason to doubt its greatness will indeed piss most of us off. so, anyone got a hunch on what will be this year's Spore, Too Human, Lair, Haze, or Dark Sector? my money is on Bioshock 2, simply because.. there's no way they pulled off what they're promising in a mere 18 months. plus, it's a new team, and 2k is running the show from the verybeginning.

I didnt like the first bioshock, so I pray its bioshock 2, im at least going to play all of those other games.

Hard to tell...mmmmmmmmmmmmmm...maybe Bioshock 2, but the previews looks great, maybe Uncharted 2...nah, i dont think so, maybe Alan Wake, but i dont know much about the game...nop i dont know if any of these games will flop.

Hey, I thought Spore was awesome.... Anywho, I hope its Alan Wake, I don't even care about that game. And BTW, I wonder why Halo 3: ODST isn't on there? The expansion to the game that sold more copies than there are human beings will probably get a LOT of hype.tktomo01

Alan Wake is being developed by the same company that made Max Payne. I'm not hyped for the game, but it has just as much "guarantee" of being great as any of the other big hyped games of the year.

Didn't like it. Too short. Seen it all before. Got really poor at points aswell. It was at it's best with the American and flashback (First part anyway.) sections. Outside of that it felt pretty uninspired. Couldn't stand the multiplayer after a while, I only really played it if I was playing with mates, but so repetitive I just got to the point where I would hide under trucks and plant claymores. Most the players are terrible aswell meaning it's ludicrously easy.

I liked CoD 2, alot. Short, but it was alot better than any of the other ones. CoD 1 was and still is overated. That was a long time ago though, I don't even know what my ratings are anymore. I havn't checked them in about a year.

My bet is on Bioshock 2 because the first one was fueled by its story. GoW, Uncharted, COD all have the same formulas - excellent action gameplay. Not saying Bioshock 2 will be bad, but it's going to need an even BETTER story than the first, and I don't see how the devs can pull one out of their asses, while Modern Warfare 2 we can basically brace ourselves for a another solid shooter, regardless of the story.

It was ok. I thought the story was quite well done. It's about as good as you could expect, but as an overall package it just didn't add up for me. Not really as tight as CoD 2 in terms of pacing and actual fun. CoD 2 just had more variety and some truely spectacular moments. By comparison CoD 4 felt simply average. I also prefer the WW2 setting to be honest, I prefer the sense of drama and desperation.

probably alan wake will flop if one of the titles u listed flops. microsoft has a way of always disappointing. cant wait for alan wake but if it flops like too human i will not be surprised at all.

Alan Wake is the least possible, the team made Max Payne

hard to see any of those games flopping really, all except alan wake being sequels to good games. the only thing to say alan wake could flop is the fact that it is a new IP but with the amount of time spent making the game i dont think it will. If i had to say one of those games i think bioshock 2 has a chance of being a dissappointing title.
