Major problems with PS3 3.0 update?

Yes this news is a day old; but I would like some verification on some of the problems cows are facing with this 3.0 update? Is it really causing problems like game freezes? Is there really a lot of advertisements spread all over the place? Are the icons large and annoying? Are the fonts really big, and unappealing to look at? I'm trying to find out more about this fai... I mean "fantastic" update. Can someone please let me know? :)

anyways I haven't had any freezing problems since the patch, the icons are perfect now...no more sitting 3 feet from my tv to read the font, and well it was a good patch through and through.

Yeah...SOCOM freezes, but that is because Slant Six is a failure of a company.

Oh no did someones clock freeze or did the sparkels lose their sparkle?

No problems on my end. I'd like the option to turn off the little scrolling ticker in the corner in the next update. No big deal though.

I heard the game that has the most problems is uncharted, I haven't played that game for a while but I lend it to a friend of mine so probably he'll have something to say to me in the next few days. As for me, so far I have only been playing batman aa since the update came out and I've had no problems whatsoever.

Lies! This update is actually a great improvement! Everything from boot time to game performance has been improved. And if you don't like it you can change the theme and font to classic. really simple stuff. people who complain are doing so because they're bored.

I went ahead and downloaded it last night and played Arkham Asylum for over 4 hours. Everything ran smooth as silk for me. I was able to log right on with no problems either. By the way, I also happen to like the new look. Don't understand what all the fuss has been about, personally.

Vast majority? Hyperbole for the lose.

There's always going to be someone who has a problem with new software. That's why there's always patches being made.

I haven't had any problems with it, But there's always a fix, so all your attempt at flame-baiting does is take up space.

Only thing I don't like is the stupid scrolling text thats on the XMB. I hope they add an option to turn that off at some point.

All we got was moving backgrounds and a "whats new" for PS store. Only problem i notticed was that trying to write on GS forums is impossible since it wont let me write :D

3.0 is fine. Go worry about facebook.

I only have 2 problems with the update.

1) Friends List Boxes arent customizable.

2) To Many Shortcuts, Whats News is enough.

My point = People dont understand that the friend list boxes is just the beginning to a revamped friends list. What I think is that Sony is going to scrap the Profile Cards and make it right on the XMB. It'll look something like this. The icons will slide out when you press X and it'll have several slots like the Profile Card (L1/R1).

I haven't had any problems recently.

The only problem you've presented is Uncharted freezing on some people. You should read your first link since it's a problem BEFORE patch 3.0 was released... oh yea and how many of those 500 posts are about people having problems with Patch 3.0?

I think you're making yourself look foolish, this update has done more harm than good. I think you're just to afraid to admit it. I would like to see some evidence from you that there are many people that are satisfied with this update. Well, it's less than a day after Sony's PS3 Firmware 3.0 update has been released and already there appears to be numerous reports of some PS3 games freezing post-update.

According to Examiner.com (linked above), at least three PS3 titles thus far seem to be adversely affected.

To quote: "One of the biggest games being inflicted by this freezing bug is Uncharted. Numerous forum goers on GameFaqs are complaining about the freezing issue. There have also been a few reports of the UFC and Bioshock getting similar symptoms.

Whether this is just limited to Uncharted isn't known, but it could very well cause some minor problems to other titles, too. Let's hope Sony finds a cure for this minor inconvenience soon."

A few others are reporting that NFS: Undercover now freezes when playing online and COD4 froze when in a lobby.

So nope it's not just Uncharted, more games are having problems. And since it's only been a day, I'm sure there are more problems to come.

i had two problems: batman froze my ps3 when i quit, mind u that was while the game was loading, i had to close the ps3 by the back button cause nothing was working

second my controller wouldn't turn on ps3

everything work perfectly now after but it's sure scared the living crap out of me

I just started replaying that and the only problem i noticed was the trophies took slightly longer to load, and one cutscene took a few extra seconds before working.

I havn't noticed anything like that when i've been playing. Also the article that you just gave us just showed that they are a "minor inconvenience" so why bother getting worked up about this? - Or are you just looking for some ownage, lemming?

i havent done it yet cause i heard if gave some probs so was waiting a couple of days to see feedback from gamers/friends.. so far none of my friends encountered any probs..

i have no problems with the update but if some are havin issues am sure sony will fix it much quicker than it took ms fix its RROD issue which some still have problems with and lets not forget all the people that had ther xbox360 bricked from the nxe update
