I respect your opinion. I loved Twilight Princess though. It took everything that was good about Ocarina and Majoras mask and combined it.
I've off and on heard this claim, have yet to try it though, have been thinking about picking it up on Wii VC just haven't gotten around to it.lamprey263
Do it. You won't be dissappointed.
for me MM is the best game ever made period, let alone best zelda gameGunSmith1_basic
I gather that by your avatar :P

LOL, no it didn't. TP's dungeons crushed Okami's.

more unfounded hate on twilight princess, what a surprise.
TP is just as amazing as the other 3 zelda's and is much better than okami.
TP obliterated okami in dungeons and exploration, as well as combat and boss battles.
I agree 100%. OoT is amazing to be sure, but MM is on another level.
It's like Goldeneye and perfect dark.
Takes what they did well, and improves it ten fold while adding tons of great new things.
MM = pure art, 11/10

nope. Okami seems to have the better reception, in fact IGN gave Okami GOTY in 2006. okami is even rated higher here at GS. TP does nothing new, it was a rehash of OOT with an inferior story. I found th eboss battles in TP to be weak as well. I take Orochi over them anyday. What's this then? No mention of Majora's Mask in this week's game history segment, 'Games of the Apocalypse'? You basically relive an apocalypse hundreds of timesGunSmith1_basicWell, yeah, if you suck at the game ;p

tell you what, since TP and OOT aren't similar in the slightest other than the core game design,
why don't you tell me how it's such a dissapointment to the series, a rehash with no redeeming qualities ect. ect.?
boss battles were easy, but their design was great. as were the dungeons - in fact, TP may have the best level design of all the zelda games.
so yeah, explain to me in detail about how TP is such a failure, then I'll reply.
No way. MM is good, but OOT is definitely much better than MM, IMO.
It doesn't have a timer (since when does a Zelda game have a timer in the main game? That only happens when you're playing a minigame or something), it's story is very relevant unlike MM, you don't have to wear masks to transform, etc.

Well since I hate on TP alot, I will post my thoughts. TP had great dungeons, probably the best in the entire series, possibly one of its few redeeming qualities. While the bosses looked cool, however their simplicity and easiness made them not fun to fight at all. Ganondorf felt tacked on and was unneeded. Zant could have been fleshed out more and made a better character. The soundtrack is the worst among the 3D Zeldas. Wolf parts were bad and repetitive. World was huge, but empty beyond belief(OOT had this problem as well, but the world was nowhere near as large). The Dark world thing was done before in the series in ALttP, and it was done better there. Well thats all I have for right now. Overall I enjoyed the game, but it disappointed me.
Personally I will say that I haven't played MM yet so I can't judge it, but I have played OoT and to me its the best N64 game without question. Then again I like Wind Waker is my second favorite game in the Zelda Franchise.
Uhh...did we play the same game?No way. MM is good, but OOT is definitely much better than MM, IMO.

MM's story was highly relevant. More so than OoT. You're fully well aware of the situation in Termina of how the moon came to be, the potential havoc the mask could release, why you were on a three day limit, etc. The story in Majora's Mask is the most profound story in the franchise.
And since when does a Zelda game have to always rely on the design of previous games? What's wrong with shaking up the franchise with something daring, challenging, and most of all, original?
The timer was far from being an issue. It kept the player on his or her toes. Encouragement to make efficient use of the time and examine the day-to-day routines of the people in the Clock Town.

these are some legitimate complaints, And I have to agree with some of them to an extent.
the bosses were definitely easy, no doubt, but the way you took some of them down were certainly the most unique in the series. there's many examples, like the 4th boss which had you riding the spinner during the fight, which was really awesome, or the seventh which used the double clawshots in a really cool way. those were the most notable examples, but all of them were great.
this is something I can undestand someone would say, but I'll tell you why he wasn't tacked on to TP. because of what happened in ocarina of time and the two different timelines in it, *Ocarina of Time had two endings, one where Link was a child, and another where he was an adult.*
in the adult timeline, after the seven sages locked away ganondorf in the sacred realm - the next game in this timeline was the windwaker. after many many years, ganon broke free of the sacred realm and came back into hyrule. the gods then flooded hyrule in an attempt to stop ganon, but they failed. so the next link had to stop him, (wind waker) and that was the end of ganon from that time.
in the child timeline, after the sages sent ganon to the sacred realm, link placed the master sword back into his pedestal and became a child again. he and zelda then told the sages about ganondorfs plan, (which at this point in time hadn't happend because link never picked up the master sword) and the sages attempted to execute him. - this is where TP comes in, which is part of the child timeline. there was a cutscene of that happening in TP, after you find the mirror of twilight after the 4th temple, and the sages explain all of that. in short, ganondorf didn't just come out of nowhere and was part of the main story in TP in the beggining - so ganondorf wasn't tacked on.
here's the article on the split timeline
on the soundtrack, I will admit that it's not quite as good as the other's because it's midi and not orchestrated, but it's still outstanding.
for some examples, this or this, are just a couple of them which are really great because I know I'm making this post horrendously long :P but come on TP had a beastly soundtrack.
I'll cover the rest in another post I know I'm writing a ton for this one :P

yeah that's true. then again a ton of other things in the other zelda games could be explained much better but I'm not complaining at those, so why should I complain about TP?
not true. the wolf segments were basically an introduction to each area, how you got to see area's in that perspective of everyone being a spirit but you, and how I saw things and went *oh how will that work out when I turn back to a human?* besides, the wolf segments were very short (except lake hylia) and the twilight area's had fantastic atmosphere.
which is another area where the game does fantastic in, the overall feeling of the game - the dark themes and gritty atmosphere.
I know what you're saying there as well. but there wasn't anything out in the main fields for a reason, to give you that sense of wide openess like OOT had. you know, riding your horse for long stretches. there was *plenty* of side things to do, like the minigames all around the game. fishing was so deep I could spend an hour just doing that.
and like I said the level and dungeon design in the game is second to none in the series. TP is every bit as good as MM, WW, or OOT :) in its own way. every one of them does some things better in some area's, where the subjectivity comes in is when someone favors one aspect over another.
EDIT: okay I'm done writing for the night :P
Your opinion is wrong. Ocarina of Time is THE best game of all time, much more best in the Zelda serieswiifan001sorry, but the original Zelda and Link to the Past can make the claim as best Zelda title as well. Game Informer called the original zelda the best game f all time. In fact IGN really got it right in 2007...Super Mario Bros. for the NES.
