Ok so yea, about 6-7 weeks ago I signed up for the Gamestop, Game informer magazine subscription because I really like Game Informer and use to subscribe to it a few years back. So yea, 7 weeks have passed and still not one magazine in the mail. Keep in mind when i signed up for this magazine, the sales rep told me it only took 4-6 weeks for me to receive the Magazine.. Well after the other day I decided I wanted to buy God Of War 2, So I was already at the mall with my buddy and thought id stop in gamestop to pick up God Of War 2 and while I was there I could also ask them why the hell I still havent received my GI magazine. So I go there and tell them I want a copy of God Of War 2, so the sales rep goes to the back and he comes back with just the God Of War 2 disc in his hand and  the instruction booklet, from there he actually goes out to the sales floor and gets the display box from the shelf for god of war 2 and puts the disc inside it!! Now keep in mind he actually grabs the box that says "for display use only" on the cover!! AND HE WAS GOING TO CHARGE ME FULL PRICE FOR IT!!

I THEN ask him about my GI subscription and he just says "oh it takes 7-9 weeks, so just wait a couple more weeks" He didnt even offer to give me a copy of the new issue they had at the store AND PLUS on top of that he was going to charge me full price for a OPENED God of war 2 IN THE DISPLAY BOX and DIDNT EVEN OFFER TO WRAP IT!!! Im tired of EBgames.. THEY PULL THIS CRAP EVERYTIME, WHen I went and bought Fight night for PS3 when it came out, they did the same thing!! Went and pulled the display box off the shelf and try to sell it to me at full price!! So at that point i told him to forget and i took my business to circuit city

OH and by the way.. its now been 8 1/2 weeks.. STILL NO MAGAZINE

lOok I have a gi subscription.

It clearly says, allow 6-8 weeks.

So allow for 2 months....something you clearly haven't done.

If anything, on page 3, you can call GI customer service and find out more...it's easy man.

And GI isn't alone, it takes time for any new subscription to go forward for any magazine.

Oh man, they tried to pull that crap with me before too.  Tried to sell me the display box at full price!  They said it was the last one, I said keep it.  I went and bought the game (don't remember which one) from wal-mart after that.

you also know EB game employees can check out the new games too. If a game has been released after 2 days of release they can rent new games. No LIE. I work there. Basically we are going to gut the games anyway. So take fight night round 3 for example. When it was realeased i could take a perfectly un opened copy open it gut it and take it home with me to play it and bring it back and still sell it as new.

Geez you guys are whiners.  Who cares if it's the display box?  As long as the disk and the instruction booklet is in new condition there is nothing wrong.  What were you planing on doing?  Just sit there and stare at the box?  No.... You were going home to open the box and play the game.

Yeah, just what I want.  I pay for something new, I get a box that 100s of people have been handling, wiping boogers and lord knows what else on it.  No thanks, I want to open my new game myself.

99 percent of the display copies on the shelf are never used until they're sold. There were, as of yesterday, 497 different new PS2 games on the shelf at my store. I can count, on the fingers of one hand, how many of them have ever been checked out by an employee. And Ironwarrior? The shirts and pants you wear? I guarantee you they were pawed more often by prospective customers than any game EB/GS sells. Hell, I guarantee you own a pair of pants that someone tried on in the store before you bought it. If you're worried about customer funk, then you've got bigger worries than fingerprints on a clamshell case.

thats nice and dandy at your store, but it still doesnt justify a company selling a opened gutted sitckered up game taht a 10 percent chance it was played already on someones sytem at home for a new price. I am saying is if it is opened they should sell it at a used game price. Hell I am a manager at my sotre and i agree taht it is wrong. Just because you work for a company doesnt mean you need to suck thier ****

What it is with Gamestop and EBgames...everyone seems to hate it. We have similiar stores in the place where I live...but I usually go to my local gameshop. They have everything there Super Nintendo , Sega, Dreamcast games, N64 games, PS1 games...you name it.

That doesn't make any sense at all....you know there are actually people who collect games. You're selfowning if you pay for it full price and display box is scratched or whatever.

Yeah, I was getting a couple new games from them a little while ago and the clerk was like

"well here are some used copies of the games, I'll just ring you up."

"I don't want used copies."

"But they are cheaper and you can return them if you don't like them"

"Yeah, but the discs are marked up and the price difference is only a couple of bucks."

"So?"

*leaves store*

But really, it's not a big deal as long as it works pretty good and no major damage to the disc so you get a fair experience how it was designed.

yes used is the way to go, I like the idea of being able to bring the game back if you dont like it. But if it's a game I really want I will usually pay full price for it and show my support for the developer of the game.

Well they are business they provide a way for games to change hands at the marketplace. Maybe it was the only copy of the game they had.

Well them developers have all kinds of agreements and contracts with the publisher and don't necessarily make money of the game sales.  And no place for used games would send a lot to the trash or force a lot of people hold onto a game they dont play or dont care about when somebody else would want to play it.

yeah i got the display box for Dead or alive 4 and they charged me full price but it was in perfect condition and on the receipt he wrote that it was the display box so if i brought it back they would know why it was opened. i have had no problem with it ever not a single scratch so i didn't mind. it was the last copy i couldn't find it anywhere.

Ok, but EBgames constantly trying to sell me opened versions of games and charging me full price!!

You are an idiot. They have all the right to charge you full-price, it isn't like the game has been played with and the ONLY times it has been touched is when it was removed from the box and when it is placed back in the box. WHAT THE HELL do you think could have happened in between? The chances of it being harmed and the disc being unplayable is VERY unlikely. Also it is 6-8 weeks for a new subscription to arrive, it has always been that way with any magazine subscription. Lastly, they can't give you the magazines they have on the floor because THOSE are for consumers who are purchasing subscriptions (just like how you received a magazine when you got yours) is it fair for them to not give their other customers magazines. You have got to be the most selfish person I have ever seen.

If you're worried about customer funk, then you've got bigger worries than fingerprints on a clamshell case.

The only time I see anyone make a mountain out of a molehill, is when I tell the game employ that I don't want to buy an open version of the product, and drive over to best buy. They scream , they cry; its ridiculous. "Its my money and I can spend it how I want."

Lastly, they can't give you the magazines they have on the floor because THOSE are for consumers who are purchasing subscriptions (just like how you received a magazine when you got yours) is it fair for them to not give their other customers magazines. You have got to be the most selfish person I have ever seen.

Well somebody pays money for a new item, most people would expect it in pristine condition. It's neither unreasonable nor selfish. Selling something that looks used as new is despicable.

Ok, but EBgames constantly trying to sell me opened versions of games and charging me full price!!Mikazukinoyaiba

Hes not being an idiot or selfish. Its his money and there is no law stating that it has to go to Gamestop or EB.

The whole "it is his money" arguement isn't even valid for his complaints. He is being unreasonable, i is like going to McDonalds and asking for an entire cow. But you are right that he doesn't have to shopt at gamestop or EBgames, so he could just go shop somewhere else if he wants to take such small issues with everything, I am sure he'll find problems with other places as well.

I'm soryr, I don't quite recall when he described the condition the disc he received is in so how do you know what it looks like? IF he truly was a used game being sold as new I'd agree, but has it been used or does it even look used?

I've had so many bad experiences with EB/Gamestop.  Now I just buy from other places not affiliated with them.

P.S. this topic should be in the General Forum

Pristine=unopened, no fingerprints, whatever. When buying something, I say it's pretty logical if something looks used, people will assume it's used and if it's just the seller's words that it's new, I would believe not many will believe him. That's why I said that. If the seller knows the item is new but he has open it for whatever reasons, then at least go the extra mile to repackage it back to make look new again. This way removes all doubts and makes consumers happy.

Well to him it's not a small issue.... ***MAJOR IDEA MAJOR IDEA*** I just realized something, at EB/Gamestop its there policy that if you buy a new game (UNOPEN) and take it back within 1 week UNOPEN with the receipt you can receive full credit. However, if you purchased the same UNOPEN game and try to return it the same day with the receipt, but now OPEN you can NOT receive full credit. But by their own admittance there is no difference between an OPEN new game and an UNOPEN new game. THIS IS HYPOCRISY BY DEFINITION. (+10 points for ME)
