If the PS3 was actually successful I doubt there would be so many here trying to convince us that it was.

Lets look at the facts:

1. PS3 last place in hardware sales. Went from first place to last place. How sad.

2. PS3 has lost Sony's gaming division billions of dollars

3.PS3 has lost Sony 80% of their marketshare following the almighty PS2last generation

You see... this is the reason why so many have spent this entire generation trying to spin and manufacture reasons why they think PS3 is a success. Because all the facts that matter point to it being a failure. Sorry.

What you fail to realize is that the 360 too, cost MS billions. Twenty-million sold is not a success? Wow, you must have built something very nice to have sold more! You must be a genius! Oh wait, you're just a fanboy.

"All the facts that matter," eh? To whom? Sony executives? Shareholders? Competition? Consumers? Different people value very different things in a free-market economy. You need to specify which group of people you are talking about. As a consumer, sales figures are of no concern to me. I care about price/value, games, and reliability. For all that is included in the box (as well as free online play), as a consumer, the PS3 is a huge success in terms of price. The PS3 is a huge success in terms of games, too. Even with a year head start, the 360's library is arguably no better than the PS3's in terms of quality games. As far as reliability is concerned, the PS3 is a tremendous success--for very obvious reasons. All of the facts that matter point to the PS3 being a success. Sorry.

And yet I own a PS3, and really enjoy it. I don't care about sales figures, or exclusives, or any of the stuff that usually gets thrown around in SW arguments. I love the games that I'm playing. To me, that means the PS3 is a success.

Ps3 has ensured Blu-ray's domination over the market earning Sony BILLIONS of dollars.

And as a bonus, it's got the best games this generation.

The real failure is 360, literally, like 33% of them fail?

Funny that Sony (the entire company not just gaming division) posted a loss in their last fiscal quarter. Where are these billions in earnings you speak of?

I don't care to convince anybody of anything. I just know the PS3 is the console for me and that's all that matters to me. I couldn't care less whether other people think the PS3 is a failure or not.

from a completely non fanboy point of viea aka not system wars then yes the PS3 is a failure in the sense that it lost every advantage it had last generation, and has yet to see the rewards of putting a Blu-Ray drive in the Playstation 3.

Lol,doesnt affect them because their the cheapest console on the market..... A 400$ console compared to 300$ console which appeals to every 1, and a console at 199$... Which do you think is going to sell better during a economic crysis?

Wii sales are down, and every company has felt the effect of lower consumer spending.

It has affected all 3 comapnies in some form or another, so don't single Sony out. But I do agree w/ you people need to read up on Blu-Ray and the BDA because Sony is NOT the sole beneficiary of profits for Blu-Ray.

The Wii sales are "down" applies only to Japan. In North America, it is not the case as shown in February's NPD sales report.

1. It's sales not sells

Correct. Wii sales are up overall. Wii is selling much more in NA right now then it's not selling in Japan.

That's an argument you would lose. The PS3 has a nice year set up this year, but as of right now, it isn't really that close.

Well, cows have changed their definition of success to fit this generation. Success just means it lasts the entire gen and it pumps out some pretty good games. And it has met those standards of success. And you can't blame the entire market share loss on the PS3. Even if it launched at $400 at launch and cost the same as the 360 does now, the wii would still dominate and take up a huge portion of the market share.

Well I think we all had to change our definition of success. The wii is a bit of an anomoly. It was always thought that the best sales would get the best games because thats the way it's always operated. I guess not.

But I wouldn't say the PS3 is anymore successful by 360, if not less successful.

hunh :? ps3 has an amazing lineup of exclusives, excellent hardware under its hood, and has a fun, but free, online network. oh wait, you are talking about its sales and what a profit it has brought to SONY, and how that should somehow affect US.

So you actually are agreeing with TS, since we are talking about the real world's view on "success", not the fanboy's. Anyway, the reality is different. PS3 is selling ok, however it's just sad when you have to think shallow, uninspired games like KZ2 are "good".

FAIL. The PS3 and the 22 million people that own 1 disagree with you. Sales means nothing Quality Games means everything. The PS3 is not a failure but you thread dose Fail.

I'm sure Sony doesn't share your definition of what it means to win a console war. Losing billions and 80% of your marketshare is something they're probably not too enthusiastic about. Sony will probably be back next gen, but their approach to hardcore big budget games won't be. The Sony you know now will be dead.

lol, you say that in every thread that I read in SW, you're not just a bot programmed to type that are you? say something interesting for once just for a change man, maybe like what tc is doing.. to tc,I think sony fans are not trying to convince you that ps3 is successful, they usually trying to convince you that ps3 got quality games and hardware and awesome features, they wouldnt convince you that its doing good in sales since its in the last place

Sorry.

The Sony you know now will be dead.

so it will become a wii .... God forbbid that!...Anyways the 1st party studios are very good, so I am not really afraid of the future of SCE they are doing fine, yeas they lost a lot of marketshare, but right now the are doing a fantastic job in the games department all they really need right now is just one thing: a pricedrop
