Best use of stereoscopic 3D yet

EAD Tokyo

90% Metascore

I'm glad 3D Platformers have become obstacle courses, like 2D Platformers, but in 3D. Good riddance to the mission and exploration based platformers.

Sure I love them too, but I want "3D Platformers" to be like EAD Tokyo's 3 recent outings, while the Banjo/SM64 style should be called 3D adventure games with platforming elements.

I agree Rayman Origins is one of the Best platformers this generation. SM3DL is a good game though; it's just a little overrated.

I agree with you!

It's the worst Mario I've played EVER.

It doesn't feel Original at all. The 3D effect is ok, but everything just felt Bland.

It's like Mario hit his Peak at Galaxy 2 and is now Sliding down to Retirement.

IM so tired of SW overhyping any game that is pretty good and make it seems like it beats every other game. especially genres nintendo are really good in.

RO is great i platinumed it but it isnt gods gift to platformers and the music is beyond annoying

While I agree that Rayman Origins is the best platformer this gen, Super Mario 3D Land is absolutely superb. In many ways it's a lot better than the Mario Galaxy games.

IMHO Rayman Origins is at the top of platforming right now and it has one of the best soundtracks this gen.

When it comes to Mario I don't really judge how difficult they are by how many lives you get/lose or how many game overs you get, since Mario games due tend to get VERY generous with extra lives. A better way to judge the games' difficulty is by how many times you die and have to restart levels.

This is probably one of the biggest reasons why Mario and other platformers should probably try to imitate what Super Meat Boy did. cuts out the unnecessary 1-ups.

And even when you do die a bunch of times on one level, the game gives you a powerup that makes it impossible to die unless you intentionally swan dive into a bottomless pit.

I didn't read the posts after the one I quoted, so I must have missed that, sorry :P Anyway, the game is on the easy side until the very end of World 8, but then it hits it big time. It's an incredible game, and it manages to straddle the line between being satisfying for core gamers and accessible for casual gamers wonderfully well.
