I agree with you!
It's the worst Mario I've played EVER.
It doesn't feel Original at all. The 3D effect is ok, but everything just felt Bland.
It's like Mario hit his Peak at Galaxy 2 and is now Sliding down to Retirement.

I wouldn't say it sliding down to retirement but I would have to agree, and this is coming from a huge Ninty fan. 3D land has to be my least favorite Mario game I have every played. It does not have the creativity of the Galaxy games, the game is somehow very bland and incredible reminiscent of New Super Mario series which should be entirely different art direction, styles, and gameplay.
You can't pull off Galaxy-scale on 3DS running smoothly plus you need the zoomed in perspective in small environments to best utilize the 3D effect.
They're all design choices, you are free to like/dislike the new direction, but bear in mind this is EAD Tokyo we are talking about, Wii U 3D Mario is going to be shockingly amazing.
3D Land reeks of NSMB because it's made with the same cost-effective model in mind. Minimalist soundtrack, recycling of assets and low in content. 3DL and home console 3D Marios have different target audiences (with some overlap of course).
I feel lucky because I appreciate both types. I like the more gamey & light hearted 3D Land as well as the more epic, large scale, AAA 3D Mario for diffrerent reasons.
Let me demonstrate what I mean: 3D Land vs Galaxy 2. I'm betting most people on SW consider Galaxy 2 to be "better". It's orchestrated and more sophisticated as opposed to a simple bleep-bloop tune, but I like both equally.
