Mario coulda been a nice looking game....

too bad the Wii is underpowered....could you imagine if the Wii was on the level of PS3 and 360? It probably would have looked as good as this Mario.....

Games can have great graphics in 480p.  Games can also have crappy graphics in 1080p.  Nintendo 1st party is quality.  Their games will look just fine.

Perhaps, but Mario still looks great. As somone who has played Gears of War, I don't think Mario looks bad... I don't expect it too look the same as Gears of War...

It's very good for it's style.
