The battle mode and frame rate fix knocks it up a notch.
Alas I can't play anymore MK8. But for those about to rock...I salute you.
Now does the Switch version support online play? Or was Nintendo too incompetent to even implement online play on the Switch yet?
Remember system warriors: If you slagged off sony for HD remasters early on in the PS4 life (Uncharted collection, last of us remastered) you can't talk this one up now.

Online play has been on the switch since day one.

Halo Collection, God of War III, Gravity Rush, GTAV, Tomb Raider Definitive Edition, Resident Evils 4-6.
Good of them to do a remaster of a good game to fill up their library
It worked for Sony and Microsoft, so it only makes sense to do it here. And I like the additions and what it brings to the overall value.
Like many people I skipped the WiiU so this will be totally fresh to me. I'm really pleased it's coming to Switch.

Yeah but the Switch is in a much worse position than Sony, and Microsoft were.
A port of a 4 year old game with no online play. Ugh. Nintendo has hit a new low.
MK8 Deluxe has online play. Where are people getting this from?

Worse how? Selling like gang busters. Hit day one with a 10/10 game. Has a feature no other console can match aka portable console titles. With Arms hitting on June 16th, Splatoon 2 in July, MK8 is a good stop gap between those two. And there's tons of indies filling up the roster in between.
And yes indies are the switch third party and it was a genius idea for Nintendo to go in that direction. If Ubisoft,EA, and Activision don't want to play ball then indies will.
Well I suppose it is technically an improvement. I'm just not sure if I want to purchase it considering I already played the game on Wii U quite a bit.

Lol indies... That's practically the same as mobile games. The switch is just a handheld with a controller. I can also stream my ipad to TV, and play on it with a controller.
But we were talking about games, and Switch doesn't have many, and sure there are games coming, but currently they are doing worse than Sony, and Microsoft did when their console released in games.

Downplay indies and the switch all you want. Enjoy your laugh. Nintendo is laughing to the bank and me as a switch owner I'm having a great time.
When their consoles released in games? You mean COD, Ryse, and Knack? LOL okay.
@FastRobby: The Switch is breaking sales records, so I would say whatever metrics you use to determine success don't matter in the real world.
Thrilled to have this coming. Looking forward to the epic bouts in Battle Mode splitscreen!
Same. Is there a thread to share friend codes? I wanna play with Gamespot people on top of my friends. It'd be fun to get a small tourney going with people on here.

He's using system wars fanboy metrics.

I don't care about handhelds, and I'm not laughing, or downplaying it. And we were simply talking about the amount of games, and Sony/Microsoft clearly had way more games than the Switch has at launch.

We weren't even talking about sales, and stuff like that, but about the library. Are you really going to say that the library of the Switch at launch was more diverse, and bigger than the one from Sony, and Microsoft? Because the answer is no, it wasn't that diverse, and big.
Currently sitting at 94 on metacritic. That means Nintendo owns the top 2 games of the year as of right now. (I know it's tied with P5 for 2nd)
Meh. I need a better reason to buy again than battle mode. I hope this doesn't mean we have to wait years for a proper new Mario Kart on Switch.

You don't care about handhelds? The Switch can be docked and played on your TV! Think it's underpowered? It's running recent 3rd party games at a higher resolution than the Xbox One! And who cares about the total number of games in the library or the diversity? The console has been out a little over a month! With games sitting at 97 and 94 on Metacritic, (10 and 9 here at Gamespot) I think the argument for quality over quantity can be made. I will take Zelda BotW and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe over Killzone Shadow Fall, Ryse, Forza 5, Dead Rising 3 and Knack any day!
I have no doubt this is a super fun game, but quickly reading the GS review and considering the amount of new stuff and features this game has, if it got a 9 then Forza Horizon 3 should be a 10.
This isn't to knock the game, I'd love to play it one day....its like how Forza 5 got a 9 but FH3 is so much better and it got a 9 too. Reviews scores(numbers) very rarely stand up to scrutiny, that is why I rarely take them seriously .
Might have to grab this one. Still it done with Zelda, but will be a welcomed break.
"Might" have to buy it? Who are you attempting to con?

"Had way more games." Okay most of those were multiplatform games or awful launch titles. I fail to see how a ton of crap is worth bragging about.

Or perhaps game scores aren't all in competition with each other? MK is a kart racing game. I don't think anyone is playing it and thinking "how does this compare to forza horizon?"
@Bread_or_Decide: I don't think that's the point Alucard is trying to make.
He's saying if the changes made to MK8 in Deluxe warranted the bump in score from 8 to 9, then he feels the progress Forza games have made in each iteration deserve to be higher than their predecessors too.

There is! On the Nintendo Fan Club forum we have a stickied thread for Friend Codes for Switch, Wii U, and 3DS. Make sure to post there and I'll add your FC to the list.
If you're going to add a friend though, make sure you PM them over Gamespot so they know who you are. I have a couple of Switch friends who I believe are from Gamespot but didn't tell me otherwise and are using their real names or something. :P
@Bread_or_Decide: I agree, I consider them 2 different (sub) genres. I'm not saying FH3 is better, apples and oranges, I just have the feeling Forza Horizon 3 had to work a lot harder to get that 9 and barely make it to 90 Metacritic, in comparison to all the features and new stuff it added compared to its predecessor.
I feel like if FH4 doesn't do the same, there is no way it is reaching that score again. But its my impression from reading stuff, my opinion could change if I actually played this Mario Kart game and the previous WiiU version. Bottom line is the game looks really fun, I should not overanalyze reviews.
I'm just fine with ports. Hell, I have quite a few on PS4 which allowed me to sell my PS3 without worry of not being able to play my favorites.
I never got a Wii-U so getting a few ports on the NS is great. I'm hoping to see ports of New Super Mario 2, Mario Maker and Smash on the NS as well.
It's great game and would double dip most likely. I must've spent a couple hundred hours upon 8 at least.
First Mario Kart I ever brought was 8.

Like I said, it's a handheld just like an iPad. Yes it's underpowered... Everyone knows the hardware in it, but again why are you bringing up things we weren't discussing? We were talking about the game library, and Switch library is not as diverse, and not as big. There's no shame in it, these are just facts... And OK you can talke Zelda, and MK8 over the other games, that's good for you.
