Mario Kart 8 Is Already Sold Out on Amazon

It's the number 1 reason I bought a Wii U on launch day. People always say they're gonna wait to buy a console when games come out for it, but I don't see the point. It's gonna be the same price anyways, so I don't see the point in waiting. That said, I'm probably the biggest Mario Kart fan there is. I own all 7 of them and play the hell out of them.

Agreed, but it'll do the job of moving a good deal of units. Those 34 million people who bought and, odds are, enjoyed the game are probably going to look forward to the next one. No one is saying that it'll sell 28 million consoles, but I'm sure it'll sell a great deal of them.

It's cool that it's sold out, but my god is it taking its time to come out, especially if it's coming out on the month of May.

I understand they need to spread out to cover the huge drought they got software wise, but it's still a bummer.

Yeah well i hate to say this, but it's selling out everywhere first and foremost because it's one of their 1st party hit titles, and secondly it's selling out because their is nothing else to play on Wii-U.

It's not selling out everywhere. Amazon is the only store (at least, that I see) that has it sold out.

Rebound in the console race? I'd say more like a little boost in the big scheme of things, and it will continue to struggle overall. As expected, the way games have sold on the Wii U and Wii U sales suggests that the main reason Nintendo's games sold so well on the Wii was due to the massive userbase. The Wii Sports craze sold the Wii more than anything, and many of the extremely casual gamers bought a few others like Mario Kart and New Super Mario Bros Wii because they were very easy for them to get into. Plus, Mario Kart was actually bundled with the Wii for a while.

I agree since they butchered Smash Bros and made it Multiplat for 3DS also. Mario Kart is going to be the game and I'll be maining Morton probably

Selling out can be impressive but it's useless without knowing how many were shipped. The only real figure is the overall sales. If you ship 10 games and sell them all it's not impressive. Still, this is one of the reasons the few who did bought a wii u. It's a bit of a turn off for a gamer like me to rely on games like this for a whole console but I've no doubt this will have a very high attach rate. It's not going to sell even Tomb Raider figures though, because that sold 6 million, and there aren't that enough wii u's.

I know I know, as a Nintendo fanboy people jump at the chance to be all "LOOK ITS SOLD OUT!!!!! OMG NINTENDO IS SO AWESOME HYPE HYPE HYPE!!!!!" when in reality this happens all the time. Something is up for pre order and amazon stops them because they don't have an official date, or they stop pre orders because the final product info isn't released, or because they aren't sure how many units are getting allocated for the first wave to them, a simple mistake is made, or any number of other reasons. But just a basic game like this will not sell out.

Just like how everyone was all hyping dark souls 2 because the black armor edition and collectors edition were sold out for pre orders on amazon but they came back in stock and are still in stock. Or how titanfall CE was sold out everywhere but now you can find it any number of places.

I know you desperately want Nintendo fanboy hype to be through the roof but it just isn't going to happen. Not enough people care about the wiiu or want one to sell enough games to actually sell out. Its a dead system from an outdated company.

Yeah I am. Well I only am because bestbuy messed up a pre order I placed and they gave me a 50 dollar online gift card that expired in a week so I had to use it on something and my girlfriend loves Mario kart so I used it on it for us to play. But no way in hell Id spend my own money on a tired old franchise being jerked off yet again.
