Once again, I don't think anyone has ever said Nintendo should cancel all Mario Kart games or that MK8 should never have existed. And neither should MS or Sony cancel all future Halo or Uncharted games.
The point he is making is that Nintendo has the least amount of new IPs (as I proved above), and out of the three companies, their variety and game volume is simply the worst of the three consoles.
All three consoles have and will continue to milk sequels and successful franchises, but it looks worse on Nintendo since they don't have enough games or new IPs, making their milking action even more prominent and desperate-looking. And it IS worse because this will hurt overall sales of the Wii U. The millions of average consumers will see droughts, lack of genre variety or lack of future support as more solid reasons to not buy the console. Nintendo, even with this recent ND, has done a poor job of changing their beliefs.
Sheep need to develop a better ability to grasp the meaning of something and why it is significant.
So why not make a thread about Nintendo not having new IPs? People make those all the time and then in the face of facts they end up looking foolish every time.
You're quick to jump to that guys defense, even though he only made a brief off topic statement about a new Mario Kart coming. You sure managed to interpret a whole lot from so very little, kind of funny really.
Yes, Nintendos variety and volume is absolutely pathetic compared to other console makers... it's called lack of 3rd party. Otherwise, Nintendo still has the leading 1st and 2nd party in terms of quality with plenty of variation in genre. Sony only just started building a 1st party last gen and it's still far from being on Nintendos level. MS isn't even in this race. Nintendo built their main stable of franchises from the beginning through trial and error across 3 gens before they settled on their mainstays. Even then they're still making new IPs quite frequently. Sony has just finished their 1st gen of true 1st party effort and you can bet your ass they'll settle just the same when they find a sweet spot of franchises that are extremely successful both critically and commercially.
I'm not sure where you're pulling desperate from though. They release their sequels far less frequently than the others and as a result, they actually make meaningful changes and manage to keep IPs fresh. You don't see 3 or 4 Mario Karts, Smash games, 3D Marios, Zeldas, Metroids, Donkey Kongs, Pikmins, etc.. per gen.
Back to the new IPs bit, I think that maybe you should look it up for yourself bud. Nintendo makes a LOT of new IPs. People beg for them, get them and then pretend they don't exist because they're not the next Mario or Zelda. As if it's just that easy to compete with some of gamings most established icons.
It would seem that your biggest gripe is that Nintendo consoles are in a 3rd party wasteland. And yes, that truly sucks for Nintendo big time. I guess all I can say is welcome to the late 90s? It's been this way for a long time, the last time Nintendo made a good stand alone console was the SNES. Only a fool would expect to see a Nintendo console with 3rd party support these days.
But as far as 1st party goes, they're doing an excellent job. They're still leaving their competition in the dust. Sony is catching up and that's great. By the end of this gen they may even rival Nintendo in 1st party which is awesome... and again MS isn't even in this race lol
