Awesome, can't wait to rebuy a game I already own. Backward compatibility is for losers.

this is remaster with updated visualls and brand new battle mode with new tracks plus all prior dlc included.

this is better than backwards compatibility.

No its not better than backwards compatibility. Stop being a fanboy. Geesh.

are you serious?

if you were just able to play mk8 at 720p 60fps for free and thats it....it's like it wouldnt even matter.

There's a large number of improvements and changes, plus the fact that it's portable makes it a big interest for me :)

Man, I would kill for 60 FPS in 3 or 4 player. What was the last MK to have that, DD?

Let me get this straight, Nintendo was able to do split-screen but 343 industry couldn't even do Split-screen for Halo 5? Really 343 really?

Different rendering tech.

I mean, for using Nintendo's Ancient technology, they were able to do Split-Screen but MS & 343 using state-of-the-arts tech couldn't work on Split-Screen for Halo 5. Something's wrong with that but then again, as the old saying, sometimes old tech beats out new tech I supposed.

Rendering technology is complicated. Some of the newer tech comes with draw backs and its the reason why some games look dated due to the newer tech directly affecting the game. MS and 343 has indicated that future games will support split screen.

@Epak_: Fast RMX has dynamic resolution scaling. Presumably MK8D sticks to 1080p.

They could add that to 4 player split-screen, 30 fps Mario Kart is horrendous.

I didn't play MK8 that much as I prefer MK on handhelds now. This is a must buy!

I already have Mario Kart 8 on the Wii U, but I'm still definitely buying this on day 1 for the new battle mode alone. The battle mode on the Wii U version was a disgrace, so now that Nintendo looks to finally be giving us the kind of classic battle mode that fans have been begging for, plus more items, more characters, portability, and the ability to hold two items at once, it pretty much makes it feel like a brand new game to me.

Glad I didn't buy this on Wii U, but I'm looking forward to playing this with my friends in portable mode.

I wouldn't mind Mario Kart 8 Deluxe being the only Mario Kart game on the Switch. It is large enough to hold itself for a long time. Yeah it is not new, but who cares.

Would prefer those resources to be put on other games....like a new F-Zero or a new Diddy Kong Racing game. :)

@ShadowDeathX: A lot of people care about it not being new I assume. I've spent around 100 hours with the Wii U version so for me the Deluxe version is kind of disapointing.

@SolidGame_basic:

https://mynintendonews.com/2017/03/15/factor-5-nintendo-switch-performance-is-somewhere-between-wii-u-and-xbox-one/

Julian Eggebrecht, Co-Founder of Factor 5, has recently participated in an interview with German website Spieleveteranen to talk all about the Nintendo Switch. Eggebrecht says that the console’s performance is somewhere between the Wii U and Xbox One and that the Switch is as easy to develop for as the PlayStation 4

i suck at the racing... stopped playing on wiiu.

ill try it again to see if they changed the handling or if holding two items makes me better.

either way im buying mostly for the battle mode....hopefully its better than the racing.

Same. I put so much time into that game....I'm just done with it. It's hands down the best mario kart game ever made but once you've had your fill there's nothing new to warrant a second purchase. I envy anyone whose never played it cause the switch port is going to be nutter butters.

Lazy port in the place where a new game should be.

I skipped the WiiU and actaully feel more and more justified for doing so. I suspect they will port many of it's sparse hits to the Switch. Still, I hold out hope that this E3 they reveal a new Metroid (prime based hopefully) game for Switch.

The game is really fun. If you like F-Zero it's a no brainer.

Yea man it looks intense, impressive performance for the Switch. I'll have to put this on my to get list when I can nab a one (hopefully soon.....suffering Zelda withdrawal, ugh). Have you played any of the MP?
