Rocket League doesn't have to pay Marios salary :P

@Solaryellow: Thats a used price mate, you can buy it for $8.99 at Gamestop right now. Can get it cheap used bout anywhere cause its resell value is so low.
No mate, they were brand new sealed with the original price on them. It was a Black Friday price yet quite a drop from full price. I don't believe for one second it would have been sold at a loss.
Nintendo knows they can shovel out budget games for full price and their fans will eat it up gladly and bend over for more.
Say what you will about MS and Sony's shady practices, at least the games they sell usually are filled with content before they throw dlc/MTs/season passes our way.
This is just insulting.
People are just hating because its nintendo
Says the person who doesn't know about the game...
What game?

Can you name us a budget game that Nintendo sold at full price?
@mesome713: I'll name you two. Mario Tennis Super Smash and Animal Crossing Festival.
KK, cause neither is full priced. Mario Tennis Super Smash is by Camelot that features online play for free and sells for $49.99. Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival sells for $59.99 and includes two $12.99 Amiibos, so this is a value of $26. It also come bundled with 3 Amiibo cards, this is valued at $3.00. Anymore we can address? Im sure you got something better then that. At least i hope so.
Shove out content-light games quickly to pad your list of video games. It's how you do, with the WiiU.
@mesome713: I dont think you get the point of this thread compared to rocket league a game that has 10x more modes/quality/polish mario tennis should not be a full priced game. Nintendo is getting trying to get by on the fact that its mario if the game didnt have mario characters it would be have been a 19.99 release
@xxgunslingerxx: No, i dont think you get it, yall have no right to try and dictate what a games price should be, thats the developers dicision. Your only job is to either buy it or dont. Rocket League has more content, modes, and polish then Mario tennis? I doubt it, and Rocket League has microtransactions were it charges you for skins etc. They also charge for DLC.
@Solaryellow: Youd be surprised. Companies penny things out all the time. They also mark things as damaged and just take the lost.
Best Buy had a large supply of new copies of Metroid Other M since 2011 when a fire sale was offered on it with prices ranging between $4.99 and $10.00. When the game was available it was cheaper (brand new) than used at Gamestop....just for reference.
Walmart seems to have a healthy supply yet the five year old game is still full priced. Target seems to have the game on a steep discount if you can find it in the cheap aisle. No one is losing money. These kinds of business are not charities.
@Solaryellow: Its still $49.99 at Target, yes, some Target stores are clearanced at $24.99, but again, this has nothing to do with Nintendo, Nintendo already cashed the check. It doesnt matter if they sell it for $49, $29, $19, or $9, Nintendo got paid the same regardless.

So let me get this straight: a $10 disparity is the basis you are using in determination of whether this is a budget title or not? A game that has been getting critically panned almost universally, for nearly the same reason: it's bereft of content. Things such as no different stadiums, no campaign or career mode(!), and a variety of match options absent. Games in the series that came out OVER a decade ago (Mario Power Tennis, GCN) had much better features and value for the dollar.
Price is not solely what determines claiming something a budget title, what's also to be taken into consideration is the ratio of content against cost, and the sad fact is this game is the most stripped-down Mario Tennis to date being sold for $10 under what is today considered to be a full-price title. If those $10 are your only means to stand in such defense and justification of this then you're really reaching. Ultra Smash is the definition of gap-filler garbage, a hastily pushed out bare-bones product, and it shouldn't be priced as if it were anything but. It is a budget title and needs to reflect it in its price.....which I'd say $19 would be fair.
You damn well know if it were $59 you'd still be spewing the same old apologist crap using some other moronic metric in its excuse. You are the problem. As long as Nintendo has people like you in their corner salivating to jump rabidly to their defense for shoveling shit in a box and calling it brownies, they will never have to work or better themselves. There is nothing wrong with holding a company accountable.
BTW $19.99 is too much for Soccer Cars. Hell, $14.99 is too much for most indie games.
If Rocket League had quality matchmaking and common sense rules for ranked matches I'd gladly pay that much of it, or more, but as is those things ruin an otherwise great game.

Those old Mario Tennis games came with Dual Screen local Coop, Amiibo functionality, HD graphics and online? Hmm, i think not. You stated full retail, i stated you were wrong, which guess what, you were again like you are bout always. They added a bunch to this game that other Mario Tennis games never had, but you dont care, your only concerned with what it dont have, you look at the glass half empty.
A small budget game can look this good? What??? You cray cray, this game has been tested, polished, and gameplay mechanics has been worked to flawless perfection. You think $19 is fair? Your crazy, we can compare Rocket League to this game since it a $20 game. But yet that games is missing so many modes and content that is expected from a "sports" game. And Rocket League has to charge microtranactions and sell DLC to help make money. But let me guess, you praise that game dont you?
Also, you cant put a price on fundom, this game is worth whatever amount of fun you can get out of it. Doesnt matter if the game is $5, if its no fun, its not worth it. You love to hate mate, but you need to learn to love. I look at the glass half full, thats the difference between you and i, you can call it fanboyism all you want, but youll figure it out one day.

If you're content with paying $49 for this, then by all means. I'd put forth an argument that there is an objective metric that can measure not fun, but value for the money contrasted vs. the content you receive, but that's a big can of worms to open. I can't much present a counter point to such an argument as "fundom" as that's a wholly subjective criteria which I know your counting on to hide your argument behind, but again, money vs. content. This is an equation that has a solution with only so much wiggle room. There comes a "c'mon!" point, and Ultra Smash has crossed that line.
The difference between you and I is I am able to understand when a glass is half empty or half full. In your case, it is thoughtless blind fandom that is making the glass appear much fuller than it is. You contribute no original thought, and anyone can predict any argument you make about Nintendo. Why? Because all people have to do is ask themselves, "what is Nintendo doing or a proponent of?", and they have their answer. I hope you'll figure this out someday so you can actually make points on your own merits instead of being a simple parrot towing the company's line.

Yeah, thats something we will never agree on. If i spend $5 on a game and its no fun, i have wasted my money. If i spend $100 on a game and its fun, money well spent. Its all about that fun factor, for thats why we play games in the first place. But if you have no other points to make, then take care mate.
Yes, it is unnecessarily overpriced, and it is shit. I don't think you will find anyone arguing otherwise.

You would be surprised. Well, maybe not.
Im surprised by people who havnt even played the game. And can you name someone claiming the game is awesome? You sure talk a lot of shat for someone that barely ever makes any good points. You just beat around the bush with mobo jumbo talks. Its what you get, say silly stuff and youll get called out.
@mesome713: You haven't played the game neither but this iteration of MPT looks very underwhelming and unneeded. Mario Sports titles haven't been good as Wii Sports.

I never claimed i have, nor have i ever claimed the game is horrible, or awesome. Ive already wrote two letters to Nintendo asking them to implement lobbies for online friend play through the internet and another for installing more single player content. I did this because Camelot stated they would only focus on multiplayer for the Wii U and Single player for the 3DS.
So i wrote a letter stating that this was a mistake, that even if we had to suffer graphics i would rather have the best of both worlds and have it ported from 3DS to Wii U, i also wrote that i hope they do this for the NX. I included in my letter the stuff i felt was a good ideal, like the dual screen play where two players use two screens, i stated this was awesome feature, i wrote how the Amiibo functionality sounded awesome and was getting positive feedback among critics. And lastly i wrote about the solid and fun gameplay mechanics that where also getting positive reactions.
I always do this with Nintendo games, if you dont like something, its best to tell them. They have the power to make changes.
People are just hating because its nintendo
Says the person who doesn't know about the game...
What game?
Exactly!

Oh, how cute! You wrote letters two Nintendo for them to improve MPT? HA! As if they will ever read them! Nintendo doesn't listen to their fans nor care about your suggestions! Nintendo also think Western Fans are inferior and can't understand their games compared to Japanese fans. They're so caught up on how much better Japanese Culture is compared to Western Cultures, yet they can't figure out why the Wii U sucks at sales.

Enjoy that tin foil mate.
