Why did no developer except Naughty Dog and a few other 1st party optimize for the CELL processor? It was a hassle and there was no benefit.
Well there is a lot of benefit from the cloud. Even Bioware have talked about using it in Dragon Age 3 if it makes sense. No point just adding some gimmicky feature to use it just for the sake of it.
For something like match-making, yeah. Let's say this Cloud computing thing does have great graphical benefits. If developers are seriously considering using CLOUD computing to improve graphics, AI and/or physics, they'd have to make 2 versions of the game on the same platform - One where the console is connected to the internet and one where the console isn't. Considering this would only raise development costs, I doubt any publisher would put their stamp of approval on the making 2 versions on the same platform. Most likely, games that use Cloud will be "always online" like titanfall, meaning that the audience that the games would go to is smaller then having non-Cloud computing games, which would work for both those who aren't online and who are online.
