Nop, is not better, i've been playng SSBB since day 1 and is still one of our most played games in reuinons with friends and family, MvC3 looks great sure, but i don't even know when i'm going to get it, not to mention i will be the only one playing it.

And I prefer Guilty Gear to the way that MvC plays. To be perfectly fair, Smash Bros plays unlike any fighter, including MvC. It has a much different feel, and even if you turn off items, the combat is diverse enough to allow for some very top-tier techniques that many fighting fans enjoy.

Gotta go with Smash on this. But MvC3 looks amazing (MvC2 is a blast).

To bad Brawl keeps its rooster and adds some new characters while MVC3 gimps theirs and will probably sell characters as DLC

As much as I loved MvC2 on the Dreamcast back in the day. SSB owns! I remember having friends over and we'll play multiplayer for hours. Especially when Melee was released, ahh... good times.

This is like saying "Halo stomps mud holes in Gears of War." You are comparing two entirely different kinds of games here.

Either way, classic fighting style is way better than the boring SSB.

ssb was always meant to be a party game. dont get me wrong, i love it. but it doesnt have the depth or strategy of capcom and snk fighters. of course the mvc games are better, its because they are meant to be fighting games while ssb is a party game.

Its really fun, surprisingly, but compared to Brawl MvC3 is as bare bones as it gets. Hell, even Brawl has spectator mode. Plus Brawl is just straight up about having fun. I like that.

Well, when EVO rolls around, you can bet we'll see a MvC3 tourny with some high level play. Any complaints will be validated or dismissed there.

Unlikely to have them dismissed, Justin Wong is one of the top MvC2 players, and he said MvC3 is the cheapest and easiest game ever made. :o

From what I've seen and heard MvC3 is pretty damn easy to play and the balance looks pretty bad (of course things change and people might figure out how to fight sentinel better...maybe). The two games are hugely different though so it's kind of hard to draw a comparison.

If you can't adapt to a character, you deserve to lose. Every character, it seems, is able to do near 100% combos. Yeah, some can do it easier. Oh well.

No, it started in 1991. Doesn't help smash bros' cause that its own creator doesnt consider it a fighting game.

To be totally fair some characters like Phoenix look like they can't afford to make a single mistake against damn near anyone while some characters like Sentinel can mess up and still manage to take out an entire team with what appears to be relative ease.

perhaps you are right. It's just that I find fighters a poor genre all together, and that smash brothers gives me incentive to play it. fantastic multiplayer, limitless replay value, tons of nintendo heritage, things to collect ect. ect. I should've said smash bros was just better than *proper fighting games*.

Then don't mess up. ;P

Thats what high level MvC2 play was like, since a lot of characters (atleast the top 4 used) had infinites. The players could do them on instinct. You technically couldn't mess up with any characters in that sense.

And Phoenix can revive herself, and is pretty frickin strong. Gotta balance atleast some things. Atleast it's not Storm. With X-Factor, she can kill a character through chip damage.

I like smash bros, I find it fun with 4 people, items, on random maps. When a game has to limit itself to its bear essentials to be competetive, 2 people, no random stages or items, its really, really boring. Imagine what Smash Bros would score as a competetive fighter, if they could only use like 10 characters a few stages and no items, it would be like the lowest scoring big budget fighter ever.

That just doesn't make any sense, but hey, i can do it too, DOA4 is not as deep as Tekken because of the boobs.

I wouldn't say DoA 4 is deep, but it's actual a lot of fun to play. The defensive side of the game is entertaining. Tekken on the other hand? Ewww Either way I wouldn't say Smash Bros. competitive scene is honestly comparable to a Street Fighter or whatever big time "evo" fighter. But knocking it for that is missing the point. Smash Bros. is fun as hell. Like a powerstone. More choatic, loose, and frankly entirely built to be more fun than pure competition.

[QUOTE="110million"] Good, its also one of my favorite genres, and I will never accept someone who is "uber pro" at smash bros to be close to as "pro" in general as someone who is "uber pro" at something like SF or KoF.110million

You just wish you were uber pro at SSB don't you?

I like smash bros, I find it fun with 4 people, items, on random maps. When a game has to limit itself to its bear essentials to be competetive, 2 people, no random stages or items, its really, really boring. Imagine what Smash Bros would score as a competetive fighter, if they could only use like 10 characters a few stages and no items, it would be like the lowest scoring big budget fighter ever.

I donno.

I think it's pretty awesome that the game can be both competitive, and a 4 player party game.
