[QUOTE="110million"] Good, its also one of my favorite genres, and I will never accept someone who is "uber pro" at smash bros to be close to as "pro" in general as someone who is "uber pro" at something like SF or KoF.jg4xchamp

That just doesn't make any sense, but hey, i can do it too, DOA4 is not as deep as Tekken because of the boobs.

I wouldn't say DoA 4 is deep, but it's actual a lot of fun to play. The defensive side of the game is entertaining. Tekken on the other hand? Ewww Either way I wouldn't say Smash Bros. competitive scene is honestly comparable to a Street Fighter or whatever big time "evo" fighter. But knocking it for that is missing the point. Smash Bros. is fun as hell. Like a powerstone. More choatic, loose, and frankly entirely built to be more fun than pure competition.

I'm actually agree and just for the record i freaking love DOA4 (and not for the boobs), and Tekken was cool but only until Tag Team IMO.

Like i said, i'm agree SSBB is fun as hell, both in party mode and "serious" mode, sure, the competitive scene is nothing like SF4 scene and however people considered Melee competitive because of the glithces it had and now, even if SSBB follow the same route (no items, fewer stages) somehow is not as competitive, is just that i don't understand how can SF4 can be more competitive than SSBB when they are both fighters.

You didn't explain why, all you did was say that you liked one game over another. So what? Why should we care if you like Marvel Vs Capcom more?

In general it comes down to it being more of a complex game, and the other part being more "satisfying" to the fighting game snobs. One is an area where even the smash bros. fanbase can come to terms with. It's not anywhere near a Street Fighter or something like Virtua Fighter in depth. The satisfaction thing can be hella subjective though. I mean I like how awesome Virtua Fighter can feel when you win, but it's also hella bland at times as well. I don't know Smash Bros. is fun. Any game that makes a decent replacement for powerstone is a great game in my book.

I would pay good money for a PSN/XBLA port of Powerstone/2 with online/

Both Games play SO Differently, You might as well be comparing Apples to Chicken.

You should have said this.

Marvel vs Capcom 3 ROFL STOMPS Tatsunoko vs Capcom because Tatsunoko vs Capcom is a Wii Exclusive while Marvel vs Capcom 3 is a Multiplat to 360 and PS3.

While I enjoy Tatsunoko vs Capcom I think it's more fitting to say that Marvel vs Capcom 3 is Better.

Well, when EVO rolls around, you can bet we'll see a MvC3 tourny with some high level play. Any complaints will be validated or dismissed there.

110million

Unlikely to have them dismissed, Justin Wong is one of the top MvC2 players, and he said MvC3 is the cheapest and easiest game ever made. :o

Of Course Justin Wong would say that.

Diago Umehara was at least in the Credits I think.

yes this post is edited.

[QUOTE="110million"] I like how some people who don't play proper fighting games can actually believe this. I've seen people so full of themselves on this topic that they've written essays on what they think makes smashbros so hxc .110million

there are such things as *proper fighting games* now?

No, it started in 1991. Doesn't help smash bros' cause that its own creator doesnt consider it a fighting game.

And I take anything Sakurai says with a grain of salt. This is the man who destroyed the balance of Brawl with overpowered items, assist trophies and pokeballs that can royally screw you over if they hit you, and some of the worst stages to even appear in the franchise. He removed many of the advanced Techniques that Melee has because he wanted to close the gap between pro and casual players.

I love Brawl, but there are times where the items are too much.

I'll say this much, the average gamer out there considers it a fighting game. 64, Melee, and Brawl have all appeared in tournments devoted to fighting games and it still follows a variant of rules common to other fighting games.

To win, you have to damage you opponent and knock them out of the ring.

How in your eyes is this not a fighting game? Ignore the items, the randomness, and the comments of the creator for a second. It follows rules that are common in certain fighting games. To win, you rack up damage and throw your opponent out of the ring.

Does it have to follow Street Fighter II's rules to be considered a fighting game in your eyes?

By the way, Smash Bros began as a seperate fighting game that was being developed by Sakurai and his team. He wanted to create a fighting game for four players, and as the project developed Nintendo characters were eventally plugged into the game. My point is that orginally Smash Bros was born as a fighting game that broke away from the rules that SFII had established in 1991. I'm not sure why he's running around spouting off nonsense about Smash Bros not being a fighting game, but when the franchise was first created it was intended to be a fighting game.

The only difference being that it did not follow the rules and standards that Street Fighter II created years before.

They are not the same.. The only thing that can be said is SSBB should be the gold standard in what features a fighter has to be shipped with when it comes to features, modes and options for the game.
