Greg Miller's opinion is duly noted. Anyone who needs to preface their opinion with "Just remember, I said this..." is just hoping to avoid the inevitable backlash.
This was already posted and had dozens of hate filled messages then. I expect the same from this thread. Although I agree with them this time, I would really rather prefer if they stopped making these articles. They never solve anything; just cause more problems
Read the article, it seems IGN is "trolling" in a way to stir up the fanboys but read it. They say multiple times that the two games cant be comparedCould be old, it's been doing the rounds: http://au.xbox360.ign.com/articles/106/1064323p1.html

Thank you, my friend. It is a reality most will never come to. None of us have the authority to say what is truly better or worse. It comes down to preferenceopinions are like a**holes

These two have to be hands down my top games of this gen. But Mass Effect 2 wins in my books, but Mass Effect 2 may have been placed as my favorite game of all time. But that's not dissing Uncharted 2, I think if you have a 360 and PS3, these games are must haves!
Already posted...infact, I'll gift you with a link to that very topic regarding the same article:

Hmm...I haven't played ME2 yet but soon I will! As for this blog entry posed as an article, I think it's done to stir up the community and generate hits. I've yet to read it, but I was wondering: - Besides production values and simple shooting mechanics, what exactly can be compared? These games a very different. - It is this dude's opinion. And I'll have to play ME2 to make mine.Episode_Eve
The same way GS chooses the GOTY, its their opinion on which game is better, regardless of genre.
Is it me or reading the comments on every article they post there is unbalivable MS/360 hate like i mean almost malicious.
I agree[QUOTE="Gamelova79"][QUOTE="Panosola"]I agree.....Mass Effect 2 is just amazing game and better than U2.Regisland
You wouldnt if you saw the other posts of Panosola.
I er, don't think someone's opinion of the game changes from reading a fanboy's posts.[QUOTE="Episode_Eve"]Hmm...I haven't played ME2 yet but soon I will! That's true, and it makes sense. But it seems to be handled in an unprofessional way akin to a random blogger on the net. Especially pointing out Uncharted 2 specifically. It's not an article I expected from them, or at least not a method. When you boil it down, I guess the author could be implying that he believes Mass Effect 2 would have been GOTY last year if it were to release then. And since Uncharted 2 was their pick for 2009 GOTY, that's why they singled it out. I still haven't read it yet, or play ME2, but I can't wait to :).[QUOTE="Episode_Eve"]Hmm...I haven't played ME2 yet but soon I will! Gamespot never handles there GOTY picks in a manner to take a shot at the fanboys. They give reasons for why that specific game stood out at the top of the mountain. What made this the GOTY. This was just unprofesional to be quite honest. When the dude is starting an article saying Fanboys started saying yada yada yada oh and as a way to make myself look better remember i bought a PSP go, and all that crap. If this was just purly about the games, thats fine. But this is about him taking a shot at fanboys. Thats 2 different things entirely.[QUOTE="Nagidar"][QUOTE="Episode_Eve"]Hmm...I haven't played ME2 yet but soon I will! This guy, just straight out said ME2 was better then UC2, the only difference is, with GS' GOTY, they don't flat out say it, but thats what the GOTY is, the game thats better then the others, in their opinion of course.

I don't think the method was professional.Initially I was wondering what exactly were they comparing. Because when you single-out two games in a duel (for lack of a better term), it's usually on a basis of comparing similar design elements. Mostly within the same genre. But it's definitely fair to think one game is better than another.

As for GS doing the same thing: that's a broad way to look at it. Every site picks a GOTY, but this article's purpose doesn't seem to be doing that. I do retain the notion that they did this to stir up the internet and generate hits.
P.S. Yes I'm back!
Well, I'm not a big IGN reader. So I guess I was ignorant lol. I just don't expect professional "journalists" to do this. Still, it's fair to have an opinion :).Why is it now that people have suddenly become so offended by IGN's actions?(I'm in SW of course I know why)I really do not understand, IGN does this ALL THE FRIGGGIN TIME. Have people just now realized this?

Lol at you calling IGN "journalists". Anyway, I don't read IGN at all, I learn about there antics through other sources. IGN is immature, this article is just another example of that. This isn't an opinion, this is flame bait. An opinion from a leading site should be properly thought out, coherent, make sense, and not try to offend. This is just a joke site trying to get a rise out of system warriors and they have accomplished their goal. If ME2 is better than Uncharted 2 and IGN wanted to say that, they could have done it in a mature, interesting and proper fashion, they didn't exhibit any of those qualitieshowever because they are nothingmore thanan unfunny joke. Also, welcome back :)

Theres no such thing as a game journalists and ign fully admits that. They said they are just guys who write and talk about games. Anywho the ME2 and uncharted 2 thing seems very pointless in genrial. I mean both are different experiances. Of course ME2 has alot of replayablity its a freaking choose what to do rpg. In the end he writes this
Yes, Uncharted 2 and Mass Effect 2 aren't the same type of game, they won't necessarily appeal to the same players, and comparing their pros and cons is a bit like comparing apples to oranges – but as gamers we need to be able to put aside system biases and say that one is better. For me, it's Mass Effect 2. The content, story, depth, action, and characters just dominate the competition -- even the mighty Nathan Drake.
That right there should just stop the comperison. He himself says it doesint make sense.
No i've hated IGN for a long long long time. any reason to throw them under the bus, is worth taking in my case. It amuses me :)Why is it now that people have suddenly become so offended by IGN's actions?(I'm in SW of course I know why)I really do not understand, IGN does this ALL THE FRIGGGIN TIME.
