It looks like Bioware will be letting all Mass Effect 2 owners take the short cut and use the interactive comic to import decisions from Mass Effect into ME2 without having to play the game. People who own the PC and Xbox versions will now be able to download the interactive comic off the Cerberus Network. LINK

It could save a lot of miles driven in the Mako for people who have already been through Mass Effect before, and just want to change their choices.

Awesome! Though I still love playing ME1 so I may not end up using this at all, but still good to have the option available. :D

Oh thank god I never have deal with Mass Effect 1's crappy combat ever again. Hopefully they do the same for Mass Effect 3.

It's nice to have the option though just in case you want to go back and tweak something without having to go back and play the whole ME game over.

Given that I have played through the first I quite like this. It would be great for there to be a similar option for the second game as well. Its not that I dont like the game its just that I do have a limited time available and it is nice to able to flip and switch your in game choices to see the outcome in consecutive titles.

..

For those that have not played ME1 though, at least once. I really recommend you give it a shot. It is an amazing game in what (in my opinion) has been the best series of this generation. Dont skip it unless you have at least seen what you are skipping...

Awesome! I wanted to start another playthrough as female shepard, but I didn't like the fact that the entire story is chosen for you. I don't want to sludge my way through Mass Effect 1 before anyone asks.

Im suprised they didnt have this at launch for 360/PC users. Didnt they think some might want to go straight to ME2 without playing the first?

Anyway i probably wont download. Id rather replay ME1.

Thats cool. Still i think every ME2 fan with a PC or 360 should play the first game. One of the best RPGs this gen in my opinion.

Taken away?

I dont' think anything was taken away.

Quite the opposite in fact, considering that they Bioware is giving everyone the opportunity to play the comic.....that's an addition, is it not?

There are some questions about this that bear answering....

From what I read, the Mass Effect comic on the PS3 will be available via a password key like many of EA's other games.

So how are XBOX 360 Mass Effect 2 users gonna get this comic if they already own and perhaps traded or bought this game from Gamestop?

Is this comic only going to be available for new 2011 versions of Mass Effect 2 leaving all of the other 2010 versions requiring a $10 purchase for the comic?

I'm curious how they are going to make this happen.

EDIT IN:

Wait, did new 2010 XBOX 360 versions of Mass Effect 2 come with password keys?

If so, what in game content did those key's provide?

Not for cows. They still miss ME1 and what appeared to be the comic exclusive to them it isn't now.

All new copy's of ME2 came with a ket to access the cerberus network. It gave us seom free missions and Zaheedm etc. Nothing special, but nice additions.

This Comic will only be accessed through the Cerebus Network, so only those who purchased the game new can download it ... Unless they want to buy access to the Cerberus network for 800 points.

Thank you.

I understand now.

The keys were already in existence for 2010 Mass Effect 2 versions.

Calling it Cerberus is just a gimmick term for CD Key.

Got it now.

Not so much a CD key as a portal for downloading DLC and getting the latest ME2 news. Although like mentioned before every new copy of ME2 gets the Cerberus Network Card with a code to access the network though ME2. It's not so much a CD key because you don't need a key to make the CD work. It's additional content.

When you start up a copy of ME2 before you go into the game on the title screen is a little laptop. It opens up and allows you access to the Cerberus Network. Basically what it's doing it checking for new DLC, and ME2 news. Similar to what you get when you start Dragon Age, when it scans for new DLC, etc.

Hopefully that cleared it up for you, and I didn't make it more confusing...

Well, it still is. Mass Effect 2 on the PS3 has the more advanced engine, and the game with all of the DLC is all on one BluRay disk.

There's no question that BluRay > DVD because BluRay's are difficult to scratch....but we'll save that for another time.

It's the definite version 'cause it came out a year later on a more reliable disc format?

I gotta say ... That's a piss poor argument you have there my friend.

Can we not let all this "definite" version nonsense go away and just enjoy Mass Effect 2 in anticipation for the final episode?

Agreed. The whole DLC thing was shot down right away by people pointing out it's cheaper to buy the game on PC or 360 and just buy the DLC separately, all the talk of superior graphics gets shot down in the Digital Foundry analysis, now the comic is getting ported too. Frankly all they have going now is that it runs without changing disks like on the 360. ...so much for all the 'definitive' gloating.

The ownage wouldnt have been so bad had they not flip-flopped on a number of issues such as better looking multiplats and 'console exclusives.'

Yep you're paying $60 to play the game on one disc compared to paying $20 to play it on 2

http://www.psuni.com/why-mass-effect-2-is-undeniably-better-on-ps3-5437/ this article makes a good point why it is so. what haters have been doing is trying to put off that PS3 version isn't the best (which imo true if you hav a rig PC does those AA thingys much better than ps3), but does nothing to prove that me2 on other systems are 'better' in any sense, or to be specific, all lemmings have done is to play down their once console exclusive but do no help to suggest that their version is better. in anycase, a win for PS3 owners to get to play me2. .. so much for all the "me2 only on 360 for consoles" gloating back earlier this year.

A poorly written blog with silly reasons is why it's the definitive version?

Honestly, given the choice would you have waited for this version over the one everyone has already played to death?

its still a good article with good and sound reasoning with solid stats to back the author up. . and of the many awards ME2 as won around the net including GS, i don't think the phrase "played to death" would suit this great game. if any reaction is to be inferred from your comment, i would suggest jealousy and despration.

Oh, wow. Great news. I had imported my character from ME1 my first time around, but I started a new game in ME2 with a new character recently and the choices they made for me were not very pleasing.

The article was pretty crappy tbh. In regards to the first two points you have to do a manual install on the PS3 so the whole point of it being on one disc and not having to download the DLC has gone right out the window. The third point is trying to say the PS3 version of the full game is better because of a demo!? That doesn't even make sesne.... The fourth point doesn't mean anything considering the Digital Foundry comparison: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-masseffect2-demo-analysis And the last point just blows off the first game, and the comic is coming to all platforms so again his point is out the window.

.....so how is that a good article?

[QUOTE="Ilikemyname420"][QUOTE="blue_hazy_basic"]sweet, will enjoy messing with it. All those definitive version threads have blown up in some peoples faces now completely lolsdu_1111
Agreed. The whole DLC thing was shot down right away by people pointing out it's cheaper to buy the game on PC or 360 and just buy the DLC separately, all the talk of superior graphics gets shot down in the Digital Foundry analysis, now the comic is getting ported too. Frankly all they have going now is that it runs without changing disks like on the 360. ...so much for all the 'definitive' gloating.

http://www.psuni.com/why-mass-effect-2-is-undeniably-better-on-ps3-5437/ this article makes a good point why it is so. what haters have been doing is trying to put off that PS3 version isn't the best (which imo true if you hav a rig PC does those AA thingys much better than ps3), but does nothing to prove that me2 on other systems are 'better' in any sense, or to be specific, all lemmings have done is to play down their once console exclusive but do no help to suggest that their version is better. in anycase, a win for PS3 owners to get to play me2. .. so much for all the "me2 only on 360 for consoles" gloating back earlier this year.

I completely agree that its a win for PS3 owners, the more people who enjoy ME2 the better, I'm just happy I get to see what the comic adds too :P Completely OT, the girl in your sig is absolutely smoking but the hell is up with asian (just in my experience that seems to be who does it, could be others I haven't seen!) chicks who do those odd routines?

I'll re-dl ME2 from steam and try it then delete it again I suppose.
