Mass Effect 2 is on the PC too...

I give up upgrading my PC for PC gamings, and bought a PS3 after watching GoW3 review by Gamespot.

What does that have to do with anything?

Story for both games has it's issues but Mass Effect 2 crapped on GoW in that department. But this is games, and you know what's epic? God of War's kickass action sequences. The boss battles are a spectacle in one sense, and exceptionally intense in another. Throw a pretty good conclusion to atleast make up for the lack luster opening 2/3rds of the game's plot I'd say God of War 3 was just more epic as a game than ME2. ME2s "epicness" really came from the presentation itself, and that final mission. Everything before that was just a fun adventure intself, but nothing overly "epic" I guess.

Better game is up to the gamer, but I think when it comes to epicness GoW3 has that won hands down.

[QUOTE="KRaDOSIV"][QUOTE="akbar13"] And one of those is Mass Effect 2.Dead-Memories

In what way is it epic? Epic is not being used as a synonym for great. I don't see how Mass Effect in general is epic. God of War III you are a powerful human taking on some of the most powerful creatures in history and knocking off all the GODS of Olympus one by one, starting with Poseidon, which ends in you killing him from his perspective. You are a single man with only one person in the world helping you, and they can't do much. As opposed to Mass Effect where you are a space soldier with teammates backed by an entire corporation, armed with heavy weaponry and taking on enemies who are often just other humans. Mass Effect is a fantastic game and I'm sure ME2 is better, but I don't see where the "EPIC" factor comes from. It's great for other reasons. Of course the multiplat is going to win the poll though...

Umm, Kratos is one of the most helped hero in all of gaming :|

Not in GOW3 :|

ME2 for sure. Its not about how big are the enemies you fight against. Its about the scale of it´s universe and all stories behind it

Definition of "Epic" as an adjective: 1. Of, constituting, having to do with, or suggestive of a literary epic. Does not apply with either games, so that's excluded. I'll shotgun someone in the face if they dare claim that GOW has something to do with epic literacy just because it has Greek mythology in it. 2. Surpassing the usual or ordinary, particularly in scope or size. ME2 wins this hands down. Greater scope both in area, storyline and much longer game length. ME2 has more content than GOWIII. 3. Heroic and impressive in quality. Both have these qualities. The games themselves are impressive in quality, the protagonists are also some of the greatest gaming heroes.

Since when does that make a game "epic" Infact what the hell is epic in general? because to me epic is "movie epic" or "zomg i cant believe he did that" in which case I felt NOTHING like that in Mass Effect 2.

The correct word for that would be either "shocking" or "impacting". That is not "epic". (see definition above)

ME2 of course. Based solely on the endings really. ME2's final boss was bad, but GoW3's was worse. Both great games though.

Yea I read that after I made this post. But your giving number 2 to an RPG.... since when is that a comparison of "Epicness"? ME2 in terms of RPG length is average 20-40 hours... so by its own genre comparison is not epic in content. but unfairly against GoW3 it is... Epic is just such a bad word to use... infact this is an incredible bad comparison, its as bad as the Diablo 3 vs God of War 3 one...

I'm sorry but epic is the first world I would use to associate GoW, it defines Epic, both in scale, scope and story, and brutatlity. That doesn't mean it's better then ME2, I think ppl are voting ME2 because they like it more, not because it's more "epic".

That is what I think aswell, considering ME2s content outside of the main missions is very very "filler-esque" to the point where alot of it is a shoot out with the same generic robots in a boring room with boxes, then a little conversation sequence. for thr ratio of time spent playing, and the quality you see within that time I would say it goes to GoW3 hands down.... but then again doesnt make it better, I dont like hack n slashers much.

Brutality has nothing to do with "epic".
ME2 has greater scope than GoW both in content and game length.
The quality of story has little to do with this comparison here, since both GoW and ME2 can be considered as having epic storyline.
Scale and scope fit in the same category when it comes to comparing games to being "epic".

You have defined in your own assumption that GoW is epic. You have not declared its superiority over ME2 in terms of epicness.

Your assumption of the meaning of the word "epic" is incorrect, and that also brings into question whether your assumption of the words "scale" and "scope" are correct or not. Scale and scope don't represent the size of the monsters you kill.

Are we talking about the entire trilogy or just one game? If it's an entire trilogy, I would take the Mass Effect series, simply because all the decisions you make in one game could have major repercussions in the next game or the game after that.

In my reality of things and educated opinion, Mass Effect 2 is more epic and the better game than God of War 3. God of War 3 tricked me. I really thought the game was going to be epic throughout the game but it fell short after the beginning. While the better game Mass Effect 2 was epic from beginning to the end and made your mind linger wanting some more. If the two were described as a roller coaster, God of War 3 only have one good part that made it epic and that's the beginning with the Titans. While Mass Effect 2 had crazy loopty loops, insane spirals, breath taking upside turns, mind blowing maneuvers, heart pounding speeds, breaking the sound barrier, the game is just totally epic. God of War 3 failed to sustain its epicness from beginning to end. Only Mass Effect 2 delivered the epicness of infinite epic proportion from the very beginning until the end and beyond.

God of War 3 is the more 'epic' game, due to its scale and setpiece battles. Mass Effect 2 is the better game overall.

"Which one is more epic or better" Makes no goddamn sense. I never really pay attention to polls, this is why really. Anyway, I won't comment on better as they're completely different and I've only played GoW3. But, at the same time, having played and loved ME1 I find it VERY hard to imagine it being 1/1000th as epic as God of War 3 is, going by my definition of course.

Naturally you can see why. God of War itself is a game based around exaggerated spectacle and is well known for boss battles typically described as "epic". Well, that and God of War's epic status is obviously forged through it's links to mythology, the whole god killing act Kratos has going on, the scale of the battles/setpieces but mostly that's how the game was marketed, even from the first trailers.

Mass Effect, Honestly what is with the end of God of War III that makes me face palm so much. I do realize that its a cliffhanger but why did it need a cliffhanger? Unless Kratos is going to become the new zeus, kind of like what happened in god of war 1 where he becomes the god of war. Whatever i digress.
