I could buy it off steam later because my pc kind of sucks for current games (can barely play orange box at 30fps) but I've heard the pc version is waaaaaaaaaaaay better in everything, but I could get the platinum htis version and get some nice things, so, any suggestions? I'm more of a console gamer by the way, but I like mouse and keyboard as well!

PC later. There are many improvements that just make it a more enjoyable game. These improvements pushed it from a AA game to AAA one.

I recommend the PC version if you get a good computer later on. The combat is much more fluid since you can map yours and your squadmates Biotic Powers to hotkeys as well as weapon changes, so you don't have to pause all the time to select them, and the lock-picking/hacking game is more interesting. You can't go wrong with either version, though, since the game is totally awesome.

The 360 just has some slight technical problems like the framerate drops really bad sometimes mostly when saving the game. It's kind of annoying but not really that big of a deal and doesn't take away from the experience. I think that's the only difference beetween the two of them but not quite sure. I would just get the 360 version although ive never played the PC version.

I heard the PC version is better, so I would say that one. But I still love the console version of Mass Effect.

I picked it up for about $10 on the 360 because I didn't want to spend more, not upset in the least even though I have a PC to run it. Just cheap sometimes.

I own both, 360 version had texture pop-in and framerate dips which were both kind of annoying. PC involves a GUI adapted for PC, higher resolution, zero texture pop-in and good frames. I say pick up the PC version.

Why don't you just rent it for the 360 and decide later?

If you can play the best version: PC then go for it. If your mostly a console gamer as you said buy it now. The game is great, period.

It still slows down quite a bit in spots but it's bearable.

PC version will be technically superior (better looking, steady and high fps, ect). That's all. This is of course assuming you have a a good PC.

360 version will definitely have more technical problems then PC version however it isn't deal breaker if you can only run Orange Box at 30fps i suggest a better PC or else it won't be all that different then the 360 version but i definetly liked the controls for the PC version much more. Less pausing and just more fluid combat

Unfortunately that PC version has a really bad bug- the guns can overheat and not cool down. Granted the solution is just to quit the game and reload (you can still save with the gun overheated), it's super annoying and sometimes you can't save. I was furious when fighting the last boss and my shotgun and pistol overheated, leaving me pretty much unable to attack.

Really? I haven't come across it yet, I must just be lucky. However I think i'd take the trade off in order to play at 1920x1200.. it just looked sooo good.

PC later. You have heard right, the PC version is superior in controls, graphics (if you play on a decent PC), menu navigation, and everything else. If I were you, I'd sell your 360 and games and accessories and build a nice, but cheap, PC off of newegg. You probably have most of the parts (RAM, mouse, keyboard, monitor, case, maybe a decent CPU) just get a new motherboard and GPU and your good. Besides, PC games are cheaper, especially when Steam does deals.

The only thing I can think of is where the gun overheats and takes a little while to start cooling down, but it was on the 360 as well :?... ahhh well

I would wait for the PC version simply because of the much more handy GUI and hacking minigame. The PC version also doesn't feature the texture pop-in issue, which nearly killed the 360 version for me. I also believe the DLC costs money on the 360 version while you can get it for free on the PC version.

You can get Mass Effect for less than the 360 version on DVD at your local game retailer as well.

I think the person that said the guns overheat and don't cool down doesn't realize the biotics the enemy was using. Some of them cause your guns to overheat and remain overheated for an extended period of time.

ive played it on both. more on the 360, but i brought it cheap on my PC when i upgraded it. the PC so clearly superiour but not by that much, the 360 does an great job, dispite the odd framerate probs here and their.

i used a 360 controller to play on my PC though. but that was maybe because i was so used to the way the 360 played

alot of the texture pop in and frame rate issues are cured by installing to the hard-drive, but the main advantage to installing i no read errors, mass effect 360 suffered terribly from disc read errors but as soon as you install those problems go away, the only bad thing I have to say about the pc version is garrus' face textures in the menu screen which is a widely documented bug where the face becomes obscurred, thats the only problem.

Only if you refuse to listen to facts. The PC version features higher FPS, higher resolutions, less graphical bugs, better GUI and interface, better controls, slightly improved graphics, better hacking minigame, you are able to issue squad commands individually and tech/biotec hotkeys are included. I own both versions, and playing both is the only way to see why the PC version is the definitive version.

If you the most out of Mass Effect, get it for PC.

First, the controls in the PC were horrid, i liked playign with a pad 100x more, plus the game feels more fake when you have to give individual commands, i was far more immersed with the 360 system tbh, felt a LOT more realistic

The graphics are about same, the resolution is of course better and yes the frame rate better, but the difference is minimal, unless you have a fps counter and base the fun you have playing, on the number there

Controls are fine and haven't given me a problem, due to the better GUI. It feels fake? Doesn't at all, just slightly different tactical options really. There is no frame rate dip now and no texture pop-in at all, plus at a high resolution it just looks so much better than the 360 version.

I own both versions and while I believe the PC is better, you stated that you are a console gamer so the controls may throw you off. I would recommend the 360 now (especially if it's on the cheap) and if you really like it, graduate to the PC version later when or if you upgrade.

Are you kidding? The console controls were far more clunky. It made ground combat frustrating due to the bad interface on the 360 version coupled with the controller, which is bad enough by itself. The PC fixed all of these problems. LOL at the PC version feels fake ! Deeper gameplay mechanics make a game feel fake? What if Bioware took away your squad, so you wouldn't have to issue those commands at all? Would that make the game feel more 'realistic'? "Bu...bu...bu..Teh imershun!!":roll:. For the record, your rebuttals are just your biased opinions, not facts like I posted. I thought you were delusional before, but this is just crazy!

The higher resolutions, more FPS and no texture pop in alone makes the PC version worth it over the 360 version any day of the week. Playing one version then the other and you'll notice how much smoother, crisper and better the PC version is, not only graphically but also with the gameplay. It seems you are still finding it hard to listen to facts! Not surprising.
