While you do have some points I just have to address some things in your post.- texture pop up delays: sometimes ten (10!!!) seconds
- slowdowns in framerate
- loadtimes at the strangest moments
- bullits seem to have no impact on bodys
- all weapons sound the same
- sometimes you have to sit trough long cutscenes again and again..
- graphics very inconsistent: some faces and textures are just ugly. some times the game is beautifull (citadel = wow)
- Free exploration my *ss.: You can only visit a small amount of planets. Most are very restricted and most side planets are empty wastelands with only a tiny area to move in. they are basicly the same.
- Coversations: sometimes multiple answer with exactly the same outcome (don't give us options then...)
- Team mates are retarded and totally useless when it comes to combat.
yeah, it's a great game, but also a game that could and SHOULD have been better.

These points are all lifted DIRECTLY from the idiotic Dean Takashi article and they are all incorrect.
A. depending on the type of ammo you use, you will knock an enemy on his/it's ass. That's impact.
B. The pistol, shotgun, assault rifle and Sniper rifle all have distinctive sound effects. they do however sound the same no matter what ammo you use, but the weapons themselves all sound different
C. There is a setting in the options where you can adjust the AI behavior of your teammates. Switch it to active and at the higher levels they will pretty much kill everything before you do. Almost to the point where the battles become chaotic because emeies are flying all over the place.
D. The longest cutscenes are the main plotpoints of the game.. YOU DO NOT REPEAT THEM UNLESS YOU PLAY THE GAME MULTIPLE TIMES. The dialogue trees can loop on you, but you can always just say "goodbye" or "Return" out of them. You can skip through every single regular conversation in the game.
Mass Effect has a lot of problems, I will be the first to tell you that. Bioware seriously dropped the ball on a lot of things with it. But once you figure out the quirks, it's awesome. The problem is you shouldn't have to.
[QUOTE="froidnite"][QUOTE="marklarmer"]Yeah...right. Because Crysis, Uncharted, SMG didn't get any hate in SW. :roll:I find it disturbing how 360 exclusives are hated on more than any other platforms exclusives. I don't understand the motives behind it, is it just because of MS? maybe someone can enlighten me.

hmm, what a huge list.
You want me to list every game hated in SW......Well that would be a long list....a vey very long list.[QUOTE="marklarmer"][QUOTE="froidnite"][QUOTE="marklarmer"]Yeah...right. Prior to release of Crysis, there was one Crysis hate thread every 5 minutes. :PBut yeah...Halo is hated the most....but that maybe because it was hyped the most.
Its my Game Of The Century personally. I'm annoyed about the technical problems but its my most perfect game ever.tomarlyn
It's an OKish RPG derivative of Bioware's earlier works with a host of technical problems. Mask of the Betrayer was far superior and that was only an expansions
Shows how much lemmings know about RPGs

I think its a matter of taste.
That's right, the People's GOTY.
A game that true gamers play.

I actually voted for Call of Duty 4. I'm not upset that Mario Galaxy got it though. It was in my top 3 for GOTY. I'm sure Mass Effect got GOTY on some other website. I wouldn't sweat it too much. In the end it's only a bunch of gamer's opinion. :)

I've been playing RPG's for years and I think it's fantastic. Andif you were as knowledgable aboutRPGs as you try and make it seem, you'd know ALL of bioware RPGs are full of technical problems.[QUOTE="tomarlyn"]I think its a matter of taste.

In this case, you're exhibiitng bad taste
In a year when galaxy, orange box, halo 3, crysis and other AAA titles were released and ex staffers from Black Isle released their best work so far you're choosing a mediocre KOTOR ripoff with technical issues as your GOTY. Great job genius
lol excuse me?
They're all worthy GOTY's. Mass Effect is the one for me because I love its setting, atmosphere, story, characters and yes gameplay (as an action RPG). Its rough around the edges but delivers exactly what I've wanted from a great sci-fi RPG.
Don't be a moron

Sorry about that, it was out of order. I was referring to one lemming in particular
As for Bioware's RPG's, you are right in saying that many of them suffer from technical problems. But never as noticeably as Mass Effect. And in Gameplay terms they seem to going backwards from Baldurs Gate 2. Hell even KOTOR was great but Bioware seriously need to remeber what they're good at.
You said it yourself (albeit more succintly)
